Phalanx? That first boss is tricky and a good challenge (if you try to defeat it without any tricks, cheats, tutorials or FAQs).
I think this is probably the best PS+ update yet. Demon's Souls and Malicious, great additions to the IGC.

I'm happy to get Labyrinth Legends. It seemed like a fun game to play with my nephew but I hear it's kinda hard. Now if it is too hard for him I won't be wasting money on it.

I would definitely recommend the Soldner-X bundle for the price.

I just fought and took out most of the guys that protected him before I lobbed fire bombs at him once he was defenseless.

Getting through levels is actually pretty quick. In addition to being able to unlock shortcuts, you can effectively run through most levels if you know what you're doing.

And regarding the dragon... it's really not that hard to get past, and you only need to do it once. Then kill him. Problem solved, never have to do it again.

The game requires time. If you don't give it that, yea, it's going to seem hard/unfair/fill-in-the-blank but it's actually none of those things.

DS is one of my top 3 favorite games of all time. If it didn't start you at the beginning of a level when you died, it would ruin the entire experience. Games today play themselves... checkpoint after checkpoint making death completely unimportant. Demon's Souls makes death something to care about again.
 
Would have much rather have had Dark Souls but I guess I can give Demon's Souls another try. Was kinda fun but didn't really get into it. Zombie Tycoon 2 and Labyrinth Legends both look like they could be pretty fun. This stuff should have been an October update. It all reminds me of Halloween.

The rest looks pretty bleh. Another fighter? And not just any fighter, but another psp fighter to top it off? It's like an extremely tired joke at this point.

No, I meant you're supposed to use them in the beginning of the fight when he's surrounded by his defenders. Frisky said he used them when he got rid of most of the defenders and the blob was defenseless. That's when you can just go in and whack him a couple of times with whatever weapon you're using.

So, in reference to the Square Enix sale, is the Just Cause 2 stuff like the monster truck unlockable in the game or can you only get them by paying for the DLC?

Already owned Demon's Souls. Nothing else even interests me from this recent PS Plus update. Never even heard of some of these free PS Plus games. And no Vita game this month (lets be honest, its a cross-buy PS3 game, not a retail Vita game, which is what I meant). Glad I decided to not renew my PS+ (since it also won't transfer anything to the PS4, so its days for me were numbered anyway).

Very happy others will get to try and play Demon's Souls. Fantastic game. Quick hint, easy mode is the character that start with the magic wand (of however it was called). Makes game more manageable if you have been holding back from playing this gem because of its internet fame of hard difficulty.

Little disappointed by this month's offerings. Already have Demon Souls and the rest have no interest with me, haven't even heard of any of the PSN games. I agree with every one else too on another PSP fighter, two in a row is ridiculous. March was great though.

That's good news for me! I like playing shorter (free) games that are a good experience at this point since I don't have a ton of time for gaming.

Never played Demon's Souls. The consensus is it's better than Dark Souls?

I definitely have to agree with this sentiment. If we never got another fighter again it would be too soon. And I personally would much rather have a small Vita game (like Bentley's Hackpack, Sunflowers, or Nuns Attack) over a big PSP game. Maybe that's just me though.

It also seems like, unless you did honestly buy a new Vita in the timeframe listed in that promo, you $20 bonus is going to be denied.

You'll hear both sides as to why one is better. Or at least I have. In my opinion both are equally great and Dark Souls just fleshed out a little on in already great experience. Demon's Souls is definitely a must try to see if you like it, especially at it's free offering. If you love it, Dark Souls can be picked up on the cheap used.

I suggest you at least give the game a few hours if you don't like it initially. I know I didn't like it in the very beginning, but it grew on me after that.
 
Demons Souls is great but otherwise, yeah, not a stellar month. I still haven't played most of the PS+ games though so I don't mind taking a month off! Not to mention, the sales that come with PS+ sometimes yield some killer deals, so I really don't care.
 
I'm glad we didn't get Okami HD as I just picked it up for the Spend $50/Get $10 promotion. Not that it would've been the end of the world as I'd like to keep it regardless, but still nice. Personally speaking, of course.

That said, I'm not that thrilled with this month, but I'll give everything a shot.
 
I'm not thrilled with this month either but I did want to try out Demon Souls so I'm happy about that. After watching the videos Malicious and Labyrinth Legends look like they could be fun.
 
I've been a bit curious about this for awhile so I might as well get it off my chest. I hardly ever hear of people talking about the value of PS Plus with the extra plus discounts you get off games. For me at least, I more than get my money's worth with just the discounts, betas, and cloud saving alone. I seem to never get around to playing all the free games due to my already huge backlog, so any free games are just a plus to me. Especially some that I can sell my physical copy to make some extra bucks off of. That's why I generally could care less what free games they offer haha. It's awesome that a lot of other people are taking advantage of the free games though.

Anyone else feel this way?

I love the discounts, but I doubt I could get my moneys worth with only them. It's great to get games for $3-2, but I only spend about $20-30 on psn games in a year, so it's not a huge saving. I do LOVE the auto updating though:applause:
 
In for Demon's Souls and Malicious. I think the latter I saw a trailer for before here and it looks interesting enough. Might also buy into Rainbow Moon since I can go for SRPGs.

How quickly will the $10 for spending $50 come back? I'll probably get P4G this week before the sale ends and would rather use the rebate than add more to my wallet.

I totally agree, although it doesn't help that the free games they offer are almost always things I already own (while the things that are discounted I don't own).

You do know that title sold CRAZY well right? According to YGC there are 84,000+ people tracked for the US version alone, which is pretty high up there. Even after being a sales failure, plenty of people getting copies for $5 dollars and being free in two regions, Vanquish is only beating Demon Souls US by like 10,000 tracked players. Now if you combine all three regions together, you get 172,671 (the US being as high as pretty much JP and EU combined I guess), which puts it in the same league as bigger titles like Fallout 3. Sure none of these numbers are really official in any way, but it does illustrate that Demon Souls has gotten around regardless of how you look at it.

Also "Greatest game of all time", really? Either you need to play better games or you're trying to over hype an interesting game with well done atmosphere.

I tried to like it. The atmoshpere is great. Obviously with all the accolades from both critics and gamers alike it is a good game, but I just couldnt get into it. I dont have the patience to slowly move around every corner and wait for every attack. What really got me was losing all progress if I died and having to slog all the way back through the same enemies to the same spot to retrive the experience. I just dont have the patience and mental fortitude to do it.

If I didnt have a huge backlog I would give it a go again since its free for plus, but I doubt I will ever get to it now.
