and just think, the PS4 is built from the ground up to work with it. can't wait.
It'll be pretty awesome if they can get devs on board, but that would really require the Vita to be selling better from the looks of it, and that would require a price drop.

Come on Sony, my money is waiting!
didnt sony say the same thing about the psp when it first came out?
yeah, but that never actually worked well enough. The Vita is clearly already capable of doing it on PS3, so it should work even better whenever PS4 hits:bouncy:

But I suppose it could all fall apart, but I'm trying to be optimistic:D

From what I've read, Sony requires every PS4 game whose controls can work on Vita to submit a Vita control scheme because supporting Remote Play will be required for those titles.
So, weird question, I got my $10 credit message but I can't click the link. I can't even highlight the link portion of the message. Anybody else have this problem?
I felt likt an idiot too since I couldnt redeem it. And I got no email. Figured out that you cant redeem it if you are currently on a game. So go to the initial ps3 home screen and then redeem it.
Remote Play barely works well on the PS2 HD Collections, I highly doubt Sony will pull through with the option on the PS4.
it wasn't baked into the ps3 like it is with the ps4, so that's apples and oranges. and 'ps2 HD collections' has nothing to do with it... it's not like the Vita (or PSP for that matter) are processing anything of import when using remote play. it's the console providing the horsepower.

Kind of off topic but with the Vita talk...It's funny to me how long it's taking for handhelds and tablets to basically merge. Great graphics and such of the Vita with the apps and functions of the iPad is pretty clearly where things are going but it's just taking so long to get there.

It annoys me that the tech is obviously out there today in millions of peoples hands and they just aren't really combined yet. Still.
so remote play has been pretty useless this gen basically
I think it's been extremely useful to me. It's just been tragically under-implemented.

Well, mostly for me, yes. But there are some games that work incredibly well with the feature. Of the top of my head, Retro/Grade and Pixel Junk's Shooter. If Sony can pull this off next gen, it'll be a huge plus (haha, plus...get it?).

I don't, please explain.

It's simple; if my iPhone or iPad had buttons and an analog stick I wouldn't need a vita

There's just no way for hardcore gaming to work on touchscreen only devices unless they are all menu based games like an old school rpg

personally I don't want people to try and make it work. I like my console games on my console, and cool mobile games like Cut the Rope, MegaMall Story, and Tiny Wings on my phone/tablet. The vita is the best of both worlds, but people keep trying to put these games on iPad. I just hate virtual buttons...so much...
Thanks to the cag who said to backup your 'The Cave' save before updating.
I did so, updated and yeah no save found. so i just restored my cloud save.
Thank you again and as a future note to others.
Thanks for bringing that up. I completely forgot to give my thanks to whoever brought that up (come forward and claim your praise). Was on my very last run, too, so I would have been extremely sad to find out I would have to do everything again to 100% the trophy list.

Definitely would have preferred the multiple runs if the "in-between" stage sequences were skippable (or randomized). Also wish the character powers actually meant something outside of a character's personal level.

Let's just say, I snatched that key from the knight's level using the time traveler without opening the door, and it makes no difference for the story. Seemed lazy to me.

Edit (found it)

The lack of stability in the iOS and Android platforms is what kills them as a serious gaming platform for me. The constant iteration of the hardware means that I have to keep investing in new hardware to make sure that the games I bought continue to be playable. There's too much bullshit there for me to keep tolerating at least the iOS ecosystem.

Traditional handheld systems are very stable platforms that only require the initial investment to have all of your games performing well, with exceptions, for the entire life of the system. That's the main reason why I'm more than willing to support the 3DS and Vita with my money than mobile devices.
Has there been any further word on the what the Resident Evil sale will be next week?
It'll be a sale on Resident Evil games. There are a bunch of them on PSN, so most of them will probably be on sale.

Not unless you don't know how to read:
Starting February 26 and throughout the month of March, we’ll be offering you the chance to get $10 back for EVERY $50 you spend using your SEN Wallet! This means that if you spent $100 you’d receive $20 back at the end in April. Everything from games, movies and TV shows — anything that accepts SEN Wallet funds — is fair game. If you were thinking of subscribing to PlayStation Plus, now’s a great time to do it. Grab the 1-year membership for $49.99 to get the most of your PSN experience, plus a little extra cash back.

Probably just the typical 10% discount for retail games on PSN. You probably won't see a PS+ launch discount.

one could say the same of PC gaming, but I don't think we really want to go there:drool:

Started playing Guacamelee today and got the platinum. Fun game, not as easy a platinum as some people make it out to be (some people were calling it a 2...), but still solid experience.

if you got it in one day, I'd say that's pretty easy;) I wish more PSN games had platinums, it would give me a lot more incentive to finish getting the trophies.

Not really. If your PC can play certain games now, it'll always be able to play them barring catastrophic accidents. You can even make upgrades to improve the system if you wish, which you can't do at all on mobile devices. I've had mobile games get updates that disabled them from being playable on my iPod Touch, which is a low that no platform touches.

Doubtful. You hardly see any significant release date sales on handheld releases at all.

I'll most likely rent it and opt to keep it from Gamefly effectively getting the new game for about $32 or so instead of the $40.

I kinda want it. Hopefully the demo gives a real taste of it. I've been playing lots of Japanese games lately, and have been enjoying them thus far.

if my iphone or ipad had buttons and an analog stick and was made by sony or nintendo, maybe. but after around a year playing ipad games i never want to touch another one. i absolutely despise what the itunes store + inapp purchases have done to the quality of games (especially intentionally breaking balance in an otherwise solid game to encourage iaps). Plus, i really appreciate 'big' games like P4G, Soul Sacrifice, etc.

plus everything said about the ipad's lack of... consistency. my older ipad grows more useless by the day as they update games to be unusable on it.

I agree with several of your criticisms, however I think if the iphone/ipad had analogue controls, more of those big games would find their way over to the system. This would encourage players who only feel comfortable with analogue controls to move into the iOS demographic, which in turn may effect the overall iap/pricing strategy. I suspect it would still be more lucrative to sell games through piecemeal iap, and until that changes iap aren't going away.

Unless hard mode proves to be much more of a challenge, I would say it's not much higher than that. I cleared normal with 100% a little while ago and 2-3 for difficulty seems ok. The only actual challenge was in a couple jumping sections but after all my frustration, they didn't take more than ~10 minutes each anyway (Orb in Tule Tree and Sierra Malone).

I'll burn through hard mode tomorrow and see.

Opinion-wise, enough people have sang the game's praises, but I have only 2 words to add: Henry Hatsworth. The combat system is similar enough, and LOADS of fun. It's too bad that the 300 combo trophy is so easy to cheat, I would have enjoyed finding an actual combo for it (which would have proved QUITE hard since there's probably only a few arenas in the game that have enough enemies for it naturally).

Edit: Plat get, 3/10 difficulty is about fine.

They have a sequel already?

[Sorry for all the periods in stupid places. It's a phone/browser incompatibility issue with certain mobile format forums. ]

A note for those with NFS:MW. It's not cross save, exactly, but you do have access to your autolog score and the cars you unlock. I had
it on Vita first. I found 60ish jackspots and unlocked 30ish cars, and then I played the Wii U version for the first time. I could jump into.any of the cars I unlocked on.the Vita version with the upper left screen menu (easydrive?), and I could see the jackspots on my map, and unlocked all the most wanted races I had access to on the Vita. Although oddly, as I drove to the jackspot on the map I "found.it" and got speed points all over again for the other game. Same with breaking gates and billboards. After finding a few more jackspots on the Wii U I went back.to Vita and had my new SP total. Only part that stinks is Vita doesn't have the DLC. So the races and cars and jackspots are tied to origin, not the console. The "achivements" are tied to.console, not origin.

I'm tearing through my PS Plus backlog. Mainly, if I don't gain interest in 30 min, I move on.

My thoughts on a few.

I somehow missed what battle fantasia was. A fantasy JRPG themed fighter? Very odd. And bored me very quickly.

The Cave was a nice surprise, platformers have.to be pretty good and interesting to.keep my interest. Simple reflex testing doesn't do it. The narration was great. Graphics were well above par and.detailed for a.simple short game.

Rochard was good, got repetitive last few hours. I.appreciated all the graphical detail, it looked nice. Story was underdone imo.

Choplifter HD was mindless fun, but the last few "chapters" explode in difficulty with no warning. I'm not saying its very hard, its just the previous parts are so easy its a jarring jump.

NBA Jam isn't as fun as the original, IMO.

i love all the praise for Guacamelee but reading about 1-2 day plats means i can wait til it's $7.50 or ps+ freebie. iv got backlog for ages. the praise for a psn game platinum is great too.

which brings me to my other point, wtf happened with borderlands 2 dlc trophies? the first game had like 10 trophies per dlc and even trophies for level 51, 61 etc. The borderlands 2 dlcs have 3 trophies each, and the level upgrade pack has no trophies. Did they just forget how to make dlc trophies or is this just a money grab or what? I was down to get the dlc but if the base game is 20, all the dlc even on sale is 27.50. that's crazy ill just wait for a bigger sale. thanx frisky great thread.
Agree with the wait for cheaper even with the $10 back.
I'm in the same boat. Sounds amazing but I've got enough to play right now, might as well wait for it to go on sale.

So I think I'm going to pick up one Soldner game but I can't decide whether to get the first one or pick up the sequel + DLC, is the sequel $2.40 better than the original? Watching some of the gameplay videos the first one seems to have catchier BG music is that an accurate assessment? Or is the DLC a dud and I should just pick up a the 2 pack of the base games?

Does anyone know what would make my PC suddenly stop recognizing the Vita is connected via Content Manager? It was working fine 4 days ago, then suddenly, nothing. I switched it to wireless transfer mode for now but this is rather annoying. The only change I can think of is the new vita firmware...

Not sure about the DLC but I had a ton of fun playing X-2 - the original not so much.
X felt a bit amateurish. X-2 felt refined. Highly recommend the sequel over the original.

which brings me to my other point, wtf happened with borderlands 2 dlc trophies? the first game had like 10 trophies per dlc and even trophies for level 51, 61 etc.
Something weird is going on at Gearbox. It's almost like they just want to make a game that people enjoy just for the fun of it. As we all know, the only true reason to play is to increase trophy count. Personally, I wish these game developers would just stop all this game creating non-sense and just start selling trophies on PSN.

You know that Gearbox outsourced the DLC and the DLC has an overall negative opinion, so I have no clue what you're going on about...
i love all the praise for Guacamelee but reading about 1-2 day plats means i can wait til it's $7.50 or ps+ freebie. iv got backlog for ages. the praise for a psn game platinum is great too.

I don't think Gearbox really cares, I mean they have always claimed the level cap increase was not their intention (despite the trophy / achievement name). I also believe trophies cost money to implement (sorry there isn't any official source to verify / source), so they probably wanted to keep costs down too.

My comment was sarcasm in an attempt to prove a point. My point was that he seems to be significantly weighting his decision for purchase based on the number of trophies available. Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion and preference, but a lot of people seem to be so consumed with the idea of trophies/achievements, they lose sight of the fact that the purpose of gaming is to have a good time. I'm sure there is more to his specific decision of Borderlands 2 and DLC, but I was simply making a point to the overall issue.

Regarding Borderlands 2 specifically, I have found the DLC to be a lot of fun. It seems to be pretty close to the same level of quality that the main game has.

for some people, the good time is in getting the trophies.

i can relate a bit. i've been gaming for ages, never paid attention to trophies after plat'ing Uncharted when it first got them, then about a year after that got 'the trophy bug'. and now i like to get them, even though i wish i didn't because it
a) gets me doing things i don't actually enjoy
b) gets me to play games longer than they deserve based on quality/enjoyment
c) gets me to quit games once i plat that i'm still actually enjoying.

i can't explain it. but as someone who disliked trophies to begin with, and now play with them in mind... it just is what it is. in rare cases, i actually appreciate the trophies (when they're well thought out).

ultimately, a plat makes me feel like i'm 'done', even if i wish it wasn't so. but the urge to get them, once i caught the bug, is undeniable. (it actually started because i wanted to do every last thing in Demon's Souls, actually, and after that i started paying attention to them.)
