I've played through RE4 at least 6 times. It does start to show its flaws as time goes by. The village was an excellent setting and things go downhill once you hit the castle and the lab areas. Wish more of it would've taken place in villages.

I'm playing RE4 right now for, like, the zillionth time. It's still better than everything released this gen. So many games tried to do what it did and failed hard.

I can't imagine why someone wouldn't enjoy it today, unless they get hung up on some really petty crap.

Here's a review that most people who've played the game agree with-- The action is flawless, the maps are perfect, the enemy variety is perfect, the AI adapts to how well you're doing, the game throws new situations at you one after another for like 20 hours straight (on your 1st playthrough), and you move forward the whole damn time, barely ever backtracking, so every time you turn a corner, there's some new fucked up situation to deal with. and each situation manages to top the one before it. When you beat it, you get Assignment Ada (decent) and Mercenaries, which you can sink another 30+ hours into if you find yourself really loving the action. and Professional mode, which limits ammo and makes it more survival horror-like, but in a fun way--not just cut your dick off difficulty like most games do. There's another 20 hours or so. This is gonna be the best $10 you ever spend, assuming it's 50% off. Edit: and Separate Ways unlocks too, yet another mode. There's a ridiculous amount of gameplay available on this little 1gb download. More than you get with most current gen games. Capcom is probably pissed as hell they can't chop out all this stuff and sell it at $15 a piece.

so yeah, if you play RE4 and don't like it, i hate you. in fact, i should just avoid this thread next week cause some asshole is gonna come here and whine about some aspect of the game and it'll totally be their fault for being born too dumb to appreciate RE4.

I feel like every game owes me the opportunity to use a samurai sword on a zombie. Just once.

there's always the one guy who ruins it by being serious

back to boring thread time

The most obvious mistake they made with Resident Evil 4 was having you play as Leon, rather than the president of the United States.

It was a good choice to make the demo for Soul Sacrifice so beefy. I'm sold on the game, but I may not have been if it was just one or two small battles.

RE4 is my all time fav RE game. I have it on the PS2 , Wii and then went and bought it again on PSN at it's full $20 price point. Only own one version of Code Veronica. Hoping that goes below $10 I might buy it if so. I already own everything else RE related that is up in the store.

Guys, the best RE game is CLEARLY Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 because I can have Nemesis, Chris, & Wesker fight against Phoenix Wright, Rocket Raccoon, and Deadpool. What other game with RE characters allows me to do THAT?!?!
Okay, MvC2 allows me to play as Jill to summon zombies against Mega Man, Spider-Man, and Iron Man, but that's only one RE character!

In all seriousness, despite not being a RE fan, RE4 is still pretty good. Passed on Revelations despite playing the demo, though maybe I'll try the console version if there's friends to play online with.

Update: Black Star Shooter confirmed for $19.99, trailer released.
Soul Sacrifice is weird and kind of confusing. Isn't this a game a lot of Monster Hunter fans were getting hyped about? I'm not seeing any similarities at all, but I've only done the rat quest so far. It has sort of a Demon's Souls / Dark Souls vibe with the environment but I wouldn't even know what to compare the gameplay with. Its just weird. Not yet sure if that is in a bad way or not.
it's taking me awhile to adjust to the control scheme of Soul Sacrfice, but I'm really liking it. I do love the potential that the control scheme offers, though.

Soul Sacrifice is the best demo I've ever played.

I don't mean it's the best game I've played but rather that the demo is so full of content and a fantastic representation of the full game. It has a meaty single player chapter with its own conclusion along with a handful of multiplayer matches. On top of that, all the progress you make will carry over to the full game which makes me want to play even moreo (I think I put in like 4-5 hours into the demo already).

I really wish more demos were this well made.

Oh and the game feels/plays uniquely and looks fantastic on the Vita. I'm 100% sold on getting the game when it comes out for sure.
You can actually get a sword in RE4? I thought I was just makin shit up, I've never played the game before, it's in my backlog.
heh, i was just being a smart ass, they're not equippable and only used for puzzles. You can get your head cut off by possessed armor that carries swords though.

They obviously had a great time writing the script, and I love me some classic RPG-ing, so I just might have to pick that up. Thanks for posting a gameplay video! :D

Not finding many opinions online about Sacred Citadel. Downloaded the demo last night, haven't had a chance to play it yet. Anyone tried it out?
that DF looks pretty good :O
It's not bad, I was thinking of doing a stream of it later today, the whole "PSN is down" made my review backed up by two days.

It does have one annoying flaw, you have to repress whatever direction you need to go in for any sort of interruption.

Case in point, you leave a shop by pressing down, once outside even though you're still pressing down your character wont move, you need to take your thumb off and press down again to get him started again.

It's a clunky system

Google "Sacred Citadel Review" and I get plenty of info.

I played the demo, it was fun, but not enough for me to want to buy it. However, I'm very picky.

This seems to be a niche that could really help Vita, meaty demos. The Dead or Alive 5 Plus demo is also quite meaty and only excludes the story mode from the full game. Well, it also limits the roster of playable characters you can choose down to just four, but you can still play a normal arcade, survival, or whatever run with the full gamut of opponents. Does anyone know of other meaty demos?

I didn't see it mentioned here, but the description for the Soul Sacrifice demo says the online component of the demo will only be available until the end of the month, so get in your game time now before it's gone.

I got a couple reviews from individuals and such. I guess I'll just give it a whirl soon as I have a chance (16 hour work days the next 2 days ). I like the art style, and a side-scrolling beat-em-up with loot just sounds awesome.
The store was really shitty for me the first week or so, but after that I haven't really had any problems. Though it is fairly moot now that I can look through the store lag free on a computer (which is by far the best part of the store update). Once they implement the ability to queue downloads from the website it will be great because I'll never have to do it through the console again if I don't want to. If they can just make sifting through your my downloads list easier then things will be mostly golden.

Personally I think that IGN article blows things WAY out of proportions in terms of the volume of console and store updates.
amen :)

Wait, so you're saying you can press down as you leave a building and keep going down afterward all while keeping the pad pressed?

Because I've tried it on the PS3 and the Vita and it works the same for both (since it's the same thing, trying to point out it's not the hardware)

I download Malicious but couldn't really tell what type of game it was from the description or screen shots. Some sort of RPG? Some sort of MMO thing?

Thanks for that. Still don't know what it's about or what's going on, but I'll give it a spin tonight. Along the same lines, I played a little Soul Sacrifice last night and I'm not sure it's for me. I didn't know what was going on there either, lol.
Strange i havnt had that issue at all x.x
I'm sorry, I should have explained more

When you press down and you're walking out of a building and someone talks to you even if you're still pressing down and just hit X to skip past it you don't continue down afterward like you do in most games like this. You need to pick up your thumb and press again.

Same goes for a dungeon, you're pressing up and a monster comes out, you're still pressing up and just mashing X to beat him, when the fight is over you need to take your thumb off of the D pad and then press again. Even if you start pressing up when the fight is over and that text is still there you still need to repress the button once the screen is just your character again.

It's something you see a lot in mobile games.

Definitely look through the manual on the main menu to see what the abilities are and what they do since it's not explained at all in the levels or hub. The second half of the Malicious video shows off a successful run against that boss if you want to see a solid strategy for how to take him down.

You basically want to beat up the scrubs that appear all around the level to build up a lot of mana, or whatever it's called, so you can power yourself up with L1+X fully and start attacking the bosses to inflict damage. When powered up, L1+Square and L1+Triangle do attacks powered with mana, though the boss I fought is best dealt with the ranged attacks and the Square attack in particular because it auto-targets. Triangle lets you sweep a cursor over enemies to send attacks at those targeted like a Rez/Child of Eden type of game, but that fight mostly just requires the Square attack.

Once you run out and if you've done enough damage, the boss, at least the one I faced, will start coming after you so that you have to use your triple jumps and such to dodge his attacks and grind for more mana where you can get it to power up and attack him so more. You basically repeat that until you've beaten them.

If you get hit by the boss and notice that limbs are missing, then press L1+O to repair yourself with some of the mana.

Once he's beaten, you get his ability to be able to use against the next boss you take on. It's not as harsh as a Mega Man game, so you can experiment with which boss to take on next.
they are, but are still expensive at $13 for non plus, $10 for plus
He's talking about the PS2 versions that just came out a week or two ago, which was way too soon to already go on sale.

I have noticed that lol after talking to someone or getting out of a fight u cant start moving until after its over. The impatient gamer in me finds it cumbersome, but i just got used to it eventually. I think the reason its so off putting is because your character always appears to be moving.

I don't think I've ever done that, in any game.

GTA Chinatown wars worth it for Vita? GTA games always, always go on sale but never go below $10. (PSP)

You know what, once they drop to $5 each, ill buy them. The PSP versions that is.

Recording videos of GTA3 and Vice City to go with the San Andreas video I made earlier. Listening to Chatterbox brings back a ton of memories of GTA3.

gta 3 is 4:3 you can stretch but looks sorta just ok.. i wish i never bought it im picky hahaha vice has ws option in game didnt try that yet. just info for others

From the video it almost looks like a Dynasty Warriors type game where you're just running out fighting nameless mooks.
Eh, I'll give it a try.

Honestly, I'm working on Lego Lord of the Rings for now. (Although I don't quite like how it's set up w/o a hub world)
