long breakdown of SS.
Thanks for this. I played through the demo and read the manual, but sometimes I have to read it in someone else's own words to have some of the game's finer points sink in to my mind. I'm new to action RPG's(?)--I tired Ragnarok Odyssey, but it was too bare-bones on the story for me. Soul Sacrifice feels like what I wanted RO to be. I have my pre-order for SS paid in full and am ready to go.
I dont play games on iProducts. Find it a waste of time and usually boring.
But on a Vita the same games are mindless fun?

Looks like the Cheapy Awards are now open for voting and I've made the list for the Community Award, so please go over there and vote for anybody but Amazon's paid person. Do the same on the Deal Buster Award, as I'd love to see somebody from CAG win the awards and not the person from Amazon that is paid to post here.
Anyone else really not like the Soul Sacrafice demo? I know some people have mentioned combat being weird, but I just tried it out and I don't think I've been as bored as I just was playing that game. Recently having played Ragnarok for Vita, I'm not sure I can deal with a game that's so similar to it.
The game opens up quite a bit after you finish the first story and get the 'Trials'. There are significantly harder and longer missions. Loving it.

Combat took awhile to get used to, but now that I 'get it' it works quite well.

Put in a vote for ya Frisky. Best of luck.

Alright. The GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City live stream will be beginning in a few minutes, though I'm going to do a few tests to see if I can easily switch platforms without interrupting the stream if anybody here has a little time to help me out. I'd also appreciate if you could check out our live stream page to make sure it works for you since this is all basically using the Twitch stream players. Thanks.

That's really not fair to him at all.

Tony as a person adds a lot to the community here, he's always been a good friend on these boards and in messages back and forth.

If you have a problem with him here then you should take it up with the powers that be that run the site. It's not fair to Tony to get the mob mentality going against him.

I'm not saying he doesn't do great work that's worthy of recognition, but he has an unfair advantage over everybody else because he's paid to come over here and work with the community. He gets all of the rewards that he deserves as an Amazon employee. I don't have a problem with him either, as it's a problem with the Award itself because of things I explain below.

Everybody else spends their own free time to work on their threads and all that, which they don't get any rewards other than enjoyment from helping out fellow CAGs. It's like the same reason that there are awards for independent retailers and the big boys because they operate on much different levels.

I've brought up these issues in the CAG Awards forum for the past few years, but Cheapy doesn't care at all about changing/altering the awards to adapt to the way that things have changed over the past few years. He puts his own site up for the Best Trading Site Award, which messes with the integrity of the award when the only thing it's about now is just to say that CAG is awesome. Most of the people here will vote CAG because they liked CAG enough to actually be active members here. That's why I suggest people vote for the others on the list because there won't be any change otherwise.

Congrats Frisky, my vote goes to you for sure.

I'd argue that Tony goes above any beyond what he is paid to do as an Amazon employee when he's answering questions from the community during his vacations, on flights, and during dinners, scheduling events to meet up and hang out with Seattle area CAGs, and tossing his personal account names around to play games with people. Singling him out the way you phrased it does a disservice to all the extra work he puts in and I truly believe he'd be on CAG even if he wasn't posting as Amazon DVG.
So, vice or liberty city stories for vita? anyone?
I'm curious too. As someone who never played these games or any GTA game, should I even bother with these on the Vita? I really like open world games like Red Dead Redemption, but I doubt that correlates too much to these games.
So, vice or liberty city stories for vita? anyone?
VCS is the better of the two. I have it on my Vita. It's fun, but the lack of right analog control sucks.
So, vice or liberty city stories for vita? anyone?
Haven't played them on PSP/Vita, but based on the PS2 games, I would say LCS over VCS, unless you are a big 80's music fan and haven't played Vice City.
I'll vote for whomever I please, but thanks for trying to influence people's vote.
Well at least Frisky didnt ask for everyone's vote. He just wants someone who isnt paid to win. Which is commendable. Even if the Amazon guy is good, the fact is he is paid to do it. Having said that I dont care who wins any awards.
I'll vote for whomever I please, but thanks for trying to influence people's vote.
what an ass

im voting for frisky even though he hasnt had to help me but I see him go out of his way so much to help others

Ehhh, to be honest, most of Frisky's personal help is usually laden with snark. I'm not complaining since I'm a dick to people who repeatedly ask stupid shit too, but I'm also not trying to win an award.

I rarely use snark at all, so please speak for yourself.
I rarely use snark at all, so please speak for yourself.
Maybe it's not intended, but I am with money on this one.

The only time I ever use snark is for jerks, which is rare in this thread, fortunately. Maybe I should just start typing like an Elcor to make sure the tone is understood.

Explanation. So I played a bit of GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City to see how it works. When you start it up, you choose whether to start up Lost and Damned or Ballad of Gay Tony and from there, you have access to the full world where you only control that main character. I started up Lost and Damned and played through the first mission or so until I had free reign to do whatever I wanted, so it seems like you get two mini version of GTA IV with their own campaigns that have full access to the world minus the missions and such of the original game. I also died in one of the first missions and got a checkpoint to just before the part I died, so the checkpoints are much better than before. If your main complaints about GTA IV were the lack of checkpoints in missions and the story/main character, Episodes for Liberty City might be perfect for you.

Edit: Realization. Looks like all of those posts have been deleted, so, whatever. Vote for whoever you want for whatever reasons you want. I've made my points in the CAG Awards thread, so go over there if you want to discuss it further.
^Rayman Legends I think you mean, and I hope you're right!
I played the demo at Best Buy. The Gamepad is the map. BUT, at some points you actually use the Gamepad to play the game also. It worked very well, I can't wait for Rayman.

can't you map it?

Soul Sacrifice is my new drug. Love the demo. Can't stop playing. I'm going to pre-order it off amazon. Try the demo if you haven't. Get to the point where you allowed to play multiplayer and it will grow on you. At lv 20 you get to be able to level down red and/or blue so don't worry too much about your choices.

You get an exclusive item for the retail game and the save transfers to it. Enjoy! -goes back to play-
can't you map it?
I believe the control scheme for both of the Stories games uses a should button + analog stick for camera controls, which isn't an option to remap to the right stick in the PSP emulator from what I remember.
So, do you guys think God of War: Ghost of Sparta is worth $14.99? Also, what's your guys opinion of GTA Chinatown Wars?
Considering that the Saga had been on sale for countless times for $20 throughout the last half year I have to say no. 5 games for $20 was remarkable. The vouchers are probably expired now though unless they reprinted copies with a future date.

just a heads up if you still havent got your 10 psn credit they are still being issued, i called them and they said the department that deals with it is always behind a week. they assured me i would receive mine.

Some people just carry that vibe, it's ok, no harm done.

developer post #17
Hey guys, I'm one of the developers of the game. We've found and fixed the crash bug that was specific to the PS3, and have submitted it to Sony.

It was a memory leak in our PS3 audio driver, which is why it doesn't happen on the Vita.

And no, it's not made with RPGMaker ;)

Sony is doing QA on the patch now, it should be out in a day or two. It's a resource handle leak, which can't actually damage your system, but it can sure be incredibly annoying and cause plenty of crashes. But the good news is that our resource handle leak was fixed by just adding one line of code. The hard part was figuring out where in our 142,000 lines of engine code that line was needed.
Weird. Thought it was a woman screaming from terror.

Anyone picked up GTA Chinatown Wars and played it on the Vita?
Do the controls remap well to use a second analog stick? I never played is on PSP, and hope it can take advantage of the extra stick and be a smooth experience.

It's a 2D, top-down game, so I don't think there's anything for the right stick to control.

Don't quote me on this, because I don't have a Vita (yet), but as far as I know it just emulates the PSP's more limited controls, so the right analog stick isn't used.

I've played three versions of GTA: Chinatown Wars extensively (the DS original, the PSP version, and the iPhone/iPod Touch version), and I can safely say that the PSP was my favorite version overall. The environments boast a lot more fidelity and detail than the DS version, and the use of physical buttons is a lot more enjoyable than the DS version's touchscreen grenades, or the iPod version's full touch screen controls. Since the game was originally made for the DS, there are some mini-games that are a little more organic with the touchscreen, but I think the diminished returns in this specialized area are worth sacrificing for the gains to be had in the PSP version.

GTA: Chinatown Wars is not only one of the best handheld games ever developed, it's one of the best GTA games ever made. I love the GTA series; I've played each one to completion except for the London 60's expansions and the GTA IV add-on episodes, and I think that Chinatown Wars outshines virtually every other game in the series except San Andreas.

Even if the controls on Vita are 1:1 to the PSP layout, the game controls very well and is an absolute blast. I highly, highly recommend it.
