hmm so FFA.. seems to be a NAY :/
Tokyo Jungle offers remote play, at least.
Just got a PS3 and spent all my game playing time last night downloading the PS+ stuff. Now to install it all tonight...

$15 seems like a pretty reasonable price (relative to retail even for used) for the Sly or Ratchet Collection so I might grab one of those. Any thoughts on which since I really missed both series on the PS2?
Picking the best PS2 platformer, is like choosing a favorite child to me. I heartily recommend Ratchet, Sly, and the Jam collections, as they are all incredibly fun games.

That said I will always have a soft spot for Sly. I just love the stories and characters so much. Sly 2 is the best, so if you don't want to spend $30 for both collections, then you could just get it (though 1&3 are both excellent as well).

But just a note, the sly collection has been stuck at $20 for quite some time, versus the R&C disc has dropped to $15 a few times recently IIRC. So its probably a safe bet that you can get it at its sale price without to much trouble.
excuse my ignorance, but is the MGO everyone is talking about the online game that came with MGS4? I remember digging that, and i think i remember they dropped the servers, but by that point i wasn't playing anymore.

EDIT - a later post suggests it's a ps2 game. ok, then.
MGO 1 originally came out with Metal Gear Solid 3 (Subsistence edition), but MGO 2 was packaged with MGS4. Unfortunately the first iteration of MGO is long gone, and they recently dropped the servers for the second one last June (the 14th, I believe).

Off-topic, but does anyone think with Lucas Arts closing their doors that there is a chance SW: The Force Unleashed DLC will go on sale? I bought the game for $5, but the combined cost of the DLC is $30....

If you want more of a pure platformer with a bunch of various mini-games added in the vary the gameplay (although that really started in 2) you want Sly. If you like a bit of over the top weapons added to your jumping and searching then Ratchet is the best.

Really, you can not go wrong with both. Word of warning though, playing all the Sly games back to back makes it feel tedious and I am a huge fan of the series. Sly is my PSN Avatar.

Since you mention Plus, do not judge the Ratchet games by All 4 One. That game is a tedious pain in the ass compared to every other Ratchet game.

You've already got some feedback on this, but I will throw in my two cents. I enjoy both Sly and Ratchet and Clank, but there really is no contest (in my opinion), R&C is better. The characters are hilarious, the weapons are amazingly fun and upgrade to even crazier versions of them as you use them. Plus they each game has an awesome amount of content with them. Challenge mode (essentially New Game+) is even more fun than your initial playthrough as you get crazy amounts of bolts and buy and play around with everything you couldn't afford.

RC is definitely my favorite. But thats also because part shooter and the weapons are a blast literally and figuratively. Sly is just blah to me. I never could get into them.

Actually, the second iteration of MGO came with MPO (Portable Ops) and the third iteration came with MGS4.

Both Sly and R&C have pretty entertaining writing and characters, Sly is more focused on the platforming aspect and R&C is more focused on the shooting and weapon upgrade aspect. Depending on which of those types of gameplay you enjoy more, you might enjoy one series more than the other, but they are both quality. I think I have to give the edge to Sly personally, because I finished all 3 of those games when they were originally on the PS2, but I lost interest in the Ratchet and Clank games partway through the second and then didn't play another one till the 5th, Crack in Time.

You're right, I forgot about Portable Ops' version of MGO. That was a pretty fun multiplayer too. A tremendous shame they scrapped the online on that as well - especially since Portable Ops Plus is sorely lacking without the multiplayer mode.

It's been more than 5 months since the release of full frontal assault on PS3. I wonder how Vita development is doing since the last update we got, which was in early February.

I think you can still play it locally if you really want to go that far, which may be able to become an online game with the PS3's AdhocParty app.

The trophy list for Ratchet & Clank : Deadlocked HD just leaked, so it's possible it will be out soon. Sony has said that Deadlocked and R&C FFA Vita will be released at the same time.

Well, you guys aren't making this any easier. ;) Seems to echo my impressions on the games though. I think I'm still leaning more towards Sly since the little I had played of the first game reminded me of that perfection that was Rayman 2. I'm sure the combat in R&C is great but that's often the least interesting part of platformers to me. That and I worry I might find combat heavier games less engaging when I have six God of War games to play at some point.

The first game is structured very differently than the rest of the games, which have open/hub worlds that you move around in to get to the individual levels.

but I really want SS pre order DLC ... the Japanese language pack ..

Wait, what? Why wouldn't it come with the preorder dlc, I've had it preordered since November? fuck!
Any other options for getting it by now? My Newegg shipment should be here tomorrow, but I'd rather pay the extra $10 for the bonuses.

Tested this PSN download queue on the SEN website.

It downloaded and installed during my automatic update without a problem.

Quite nice, it looks like this is how I'll be doing all of my PSN browsing from now on.

they're selling the japanese voice over pack on psn, for 1.99. don't remember what else the preorder dlc has, not sure if every place got costumes or not.

Sony Retail Loyalty site is giving them away, so you can ask a friend working at an approved place to hook you up. There is also the CAG PSN code trading / buying / selling thread. Also as a future FYI, I haven't known Newegg to ever offer a preorder bonus.

Oh, so that's how it works. I turned on my PS3 when I got home last night expecting the games I bought to be on the active download list. When I didn't see anything, I went to my download list and manually activated the downloads. From there, I turned off my PS3 and let the games download automatically overnight during the regular auto update period.

man, I had basically decided not to get FFA, but knowing Deadlocked is near, and reading the list and remembering the game is making me think twice again. Didn't they put up new servers for UYA HD? I never got to play Deadlocked online, but had a blast playing splitscreen UYA, so that might be worth it alone. I wonder if there will be any players though:whistle2:k

I loved Sly 1, but had to force myself to finish 2 and stopped after the first section of 3 because it was a chore (like Sly 2).

I probably like the R&C series better though I hated A41. A Crack in Time is in my top 5 on PS3. Just an amazing experience. What happened to THAT Insomniac? :(

Just a heads up, there is a PS Store software update, v1.05, to download when you try to access it via console, size is 29mb. Everything looks the same as before so I assume it's for improved stability.

newegg never comes with preorder material, unless the entire first printing of a game has a special offer.
download version = preorder version, from what i can tell. so if you buy it now, the dl version is best with the caveat that you can't resell.
What is a caveat?

I hear you on not listening to reviews but I have actually loved demos and disliked the game. As well as hating demos but loving the game. It's not easy to accurately judge a games total quality in one tiny bit.

I've been waiting for Trine 2 for the PS3 to go back on sale for about a year now, and it's just not happening. Anyone with any idea if Trine 2 will ever be on sale at 1/2 off again?

Each game's page should say whether it's playable on both PSP and Vita or just PSP and this thread will tell you whether it's playable at all.

I just opened my physical copy of Sly 4 and tried redeeming the disc benefit so I could play on Vita, and it failed. I initially thought it might be the store update, but it was not that.

The error code is 80025A76 and there are no useful hits on google... Ugh.

Willing to bet the digital sale on it is why this is broken.

Yeah, I saw that a bit earlier tonight so gonna swing by there tomorrow though I'm not expecting much.
FYI Sly Collection is $10 @ Kmart on clearance. Picked one up today. 3 easy platinum trophies for each game.
Searched every Kmart in my area before I brought them on PSN and found none. Probably got snatched up long ago in most places, I remember seeing 1 sole copy here last year
I don't really see that happening with how close this sale is to E3, when they'd be doing the big turnover.

If I had to put money down on it, I'd expect MotorStorm Apocalypse, Starhawk, and Uncharted 3: GOTY Edition.

Going by the notion that what's on sale right now wouldn't be up for the three highlight spots, there's not a ton left from Sony on there. What's left is Carnival Island, Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds Complete Collection, Ico/Shadow of the Colossus Collection, Jak & Daxter Collection, MAG, Medieval Moves: Deadmund's Quest, MLB 13: The Show, ModNation Racers, MotorStorm Apocalypse, PlayStation Move Heroes, SOCOM: US Navy Seals Confrontation, Sorcery, Sports Champions, Sports Champions 2, Starhawk, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves GOTY, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception GOTY, and Warhawk.

It's safe to say that the Move titles won't be a highlight title and I'd rule out the collections, as well. MLB 13: The Show is too new and MAG, Warhawk, and the first two Uncharted games are probably too old. Starhawk and MotorStorm Apocalypse are fairly recent under-the-radar titles with Uncharted 3 being the blockbuster of the group.

Of course, if I include the titles on sale right now, I could see LBP Karting getting a spot over maybe MotorStorm Apocalypse.
I doubt there will ever be a Move game in the IGC unless it's an extra. I can't see a whole PS2 HD collection being given away because those games are old and there's no money to be made by offering them for free. Then again, Infamous 2 is a year-long game and there isn't much DLC to buy for it, and surprisingly none of the Jak games are on sale right now.

Uncharted 3 would be a big mistake to add to the IGC because it's a 39.5 GB download and its MP is now free-to-play. The Resistance and Killzone games would be no-brainers if they were even on PSN.

When you limit it to what's available on the Playstation Store, 20GB or smaller downloads, exclusives, and recent releases, there's only a handful of games to choose from. I can only think of Starhawk, LBP Karting, Twisted Metal, Sly 4 and PSABR as games that fit this description. Starhawk's SP was already given away and Twisted Metal is rated M, which may be enough reason to rule them out.

haha, still very confused. Is that an ability? What exactly does the DLC do?

I'm feeling the same way and think I'm off to go get FFA right now. Don't forget you should get Deadlocked and the Vita FFA version, too! I wish they were putting out Deadlocked on Vita as well but I guess they learned their lesson from what a headache it was for FFA.

Uncharted 3 isn't actually that big since it's broken up into a bunch of individual files for the add-ons and such. I believe the single-player and MP are also separate files, so the bundle size is a bit exaggerated though I can't find anything that states all that is included and the sizes. The free-to-play MP is just level-capped at level 15, so you don't get all of that part of the game without paying up for it.

Starhawk's appeal is the multiplayer, which they didn't give away.

So, do they usually post the next PSN+ games near the beginning of the month, or just previous to the first week of the PSN update?
