I am very happy about the addition of X-Com, it was one of the few titles I was really hoping to get. I already have an untouched copy of Uncharted 3 so I'll have to decide between unloading it or saving some HD space by keeping it, either way I'm satisfied. LBP Karting isn't a big draw for me but I'll probably still check it out. So thrilled about X-Com though that it wouldn't have mattered what the other offerings were to be honest.  :bouncy:

I am jealous of people who will be playing Xcom for the first time... and Deus Ex. This is really a slam dunk of a month quality wise (even though I already own all of the "must play" titles.

As a reminder, those aren't the only free games that we're getting next week, as either Saints Row The Third or Machinarium will also be out next week.

yeah, fantastic month all around really. i bought lbpk back when it was on sale too, but i've played and beat it since. already own uncharted 3, deus ex, and saint's row(for 360), but i'm definitely down for going through saint's again on ps3. even though i'll probably grab the ps3 full package whenever i find a deal on it. looking forward to playing x-com, vlr, and even gods eater. i just need to start chewing through some of these plus games i already have to make space.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/06/07/may-2013s-psn-top-sellers-mark-iv-style/

Aaaaand we’re back with the top sellers from May 2013! Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon claimed its spot at the top of the PS3 chart (deservedly so, if I have anything to say about it), Call of Juarez: Gunslinger made a mighty strong debut, and Journey keeps drifting around the top ten.

Mens Room Mayhem grabbed the number 2 spot on PS Vita… I’m not sure whether I should make a joke about that or not. Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery — a personal favorite — had a great first month as well.

Our fine European blog counterparts keep a list of their most popular games too; be sure to check ‘em out.
I wonder what will take the top spot next month.

Two great games, and one I haven't played yet in LBPK. I almost bought it in January, but unlike Tyler, the talk of it probably being free some day convinced me to hold off. I did get XCOM for Christmas, and have yet to touch it, so I'll probably trade it somewhere.

Also, did anyone notice in the blog post where it says: "We’ve got more to come next week, so again, make sure you watch for all the PlayStation announcements to come at E3."

Kind of weird wording...I assume they mean they have more for the Playstation brand in general, but the way it's right after talk of free games, seems like they might have something up their sleeves for next week.

With all the stuff that Microsoft has been saying about the Xbox One in the past day, I'm pretty sure Sony execs have a permenant grin on their faces. Granted, we don't know too much about PS4 and it's used game/DRM/always on situation, but at this point Sony just needs to say 2 things to already win the next gen wars:

1. PS4 will not require an internet connection.

2. You can do whatever you want with your used games, like it's always been.

Wow! I'm excited for XCOM. I already have UC3, and not interested in LBP Karting, so 1 out of 3 is not so bad, especially since it's a really good one. Thanks.

The first one is definitely doable. But I'm afraid the second one is not. Sony has already stated that it will be a publisher's option in regards to how used games are managed. It's a game developers' initiative. So if Microsoft said yes to the developers, and Sony said no to them, who do you think they are going to develop games for?

Awesome update! I've been wanting to play XCOM for a while now. Also, adding Uncharted 3 to the collection can only mean one thing....Uncharted 4 to be unveiled at E3 on Monday!!! :bouncy:

Really surprised by XCOM. I was expecting PSASBR and am actually kind of disappointed we aren't getting it since I bought LBP Karting and Uncharted 3 for $10 a piece already.

The "being left to the publisher" term is being blown way out of context, I think. That's what Sony and Microsoft are doing right now, but people act like it isn't happening. An online pass for a used game isn't required by Sony or Microsoft, it's left up to the publisher on whether or not they sell an online pass for a game. We're already being charged a fee for used games...and that's up to the publisher.

What I'm referring to, is the fact that it's been widely reported now that Microsoft is putting clear limitations on used games. They've even come out and said so themselves, which caused the giant firestorm against the Xbox One this morning. I'm not talking about charging for an online pass, or requiring a fee, I'm referring to the fact that Microsoft is imposing restrictions on used games. You can only give a game to someone who's been on your friends list for 30 days...and you can only do it once. And these are disc-based games they're referring to. Oh, and this won't be something that's ready at launch. These are the restrictions Microsoft has imposed, and publishers can build on top of them by either charging a fee or blocking used games completely.

Good job showing restraint. It was definitely the right decision.

As for the "we've got more coming next week" I just assumed it meant there will be a couple discounts on games, or extra PS+ discounts on the "Some sales on some big games" sale.

I agree, I'd assume Sony's plan regarding used games will be very similar to Xbox's. However I really don't think Publishers are going to put used game restrictions on their games right away. But we'll see.

Unrelated, but even in the dark theme, these quote boxes need WAY MORE vibrant lines.

Well fantastic - three games I haven't played yet and three games I wanted to play.  I think all 7 or 8 games for the month of June are new to me.  That alone would be worth a year of PS+ (especially since it'll take me a year to get through all of them).

I wonder will they replace some Vita games in IGC soon. Currently playing Gravity Rush, which is awesome. I might play Uncharted Golden Abyss next.

wow nice new additions to ps+, I already have LBP Karting and Uncharted but I'm glad for XCOM. I got it on black friday last year but never got around to playing it, so I sold it last month for the same price I originally paid for it.

I just bought Uncharted 3 from Blockbuster's sale.  Oh well, still hoping for Catherine and ICO/Shadow of the Colossus to be the next freebies.

Liking the dark background more than the bright light one.

In regards to ps4 and xboxone, I definitely think Sony will implement something new regarding used games or internet connections that they haven't before. But if they're smart, they will do it in a way that doesn't anger their fan base and cause massive rage across the internet. Either by making it so unobtrusive that most people won't even see or know it's being used or have similar policies to Microsoft but which much more freedom for consumers.

Suffice to say, I think it's wishful thinking for Sony not to implement a used game/internet policy at all (even though I would utterly love it if they didn't and shoved it in Microsoft's face) but I'm hoping they at least handle it much better than Microsoft is imo.

I see the point you're trying to make. But aren't Sony already imposing the same restrictions will all games purchased through PSN? Whenever I buy something from them, I get a message stating that I'm only allowed 2 downloads. Never had a need for it, but if I were to purchase a replacement PS3 and redownload the games again, that's it...I would have used up the 2 download restriction.

Edit: Why is it quoting all of my quotes everytime I reply to someone? This is really annoying? Is there a way to turn it off?

I think you're referring to the two system restriction aka gamesharing, right? You can have two active systems with the game on it, but you can download it an unlimited number of times. You can purchase an infinite number of PS3s, but only two at any given time can have that game active on it.

No, because you can deactivate the old PS3 system. You can download as much as you want, but only on 2 registered systems.

Probably in November, 1 year after they've been available in the IGC

No, they're threaded quotes and they're awful. You can go in and delete them though when you're typing your reply.

Well, I got Uncharted for Christmas and haven't touched it yet. I also have Uncharted 3 from some time in 2012 that I haven't played yet either.

Maybe I'll trade both in to Amazon and/or Gamestop, I just got a new 3DS and am looking for some Mario or Zelda titles.

No, because you can deactivate the old PS3 system. You can download as much as you want, but only on 2 registered systems.
Really? How do you do that (deactive the old PS3 system)? What if I'm upgrading the Hard Drive, how do I deactive the older hard drive?
Two ways. You can either deactivate directly on the system, before you remove your old hard drive. This is under the Account Management option on the XMB. If you don't do it on the system, and you've already replaced the old hard drive, you can also log into the Sony site, and remotely deactivate the system from there. The remote deactivation is limited to something like two times every six months or something like that. No limit on deactivation if you do it on the actual system.

Maybe I'll trade both in to Amazon and/or Gamestop, I just got a new 3DS and am looking for some Mario or Zelda titles.
Super Mario 3D Land ftw! lol Love that game.

Not excited about the retail games this month. We already got deus ex, saints row, uncharted 3, and xcom for close to $10 each from all of the best buy sales as well as other retailers over the years. At least I didn't own most of the previous games. Hopefully next month is better.
Were you expecting The Last of Us?

At the very least, I was hoping Sony would give all PS+ users a free PS4. They do nothing for us, and we pay $50 a year. Turds.

Nah, but I think the slightly more obscure games like last reward or the slightly less mainstream sleepings dogs work out better for us. I get that most people would be excited for these but as cags we tend to pick up the big games for $10-$15 over the years. Just a personal preference.

Hells yeah. great update. I already own Uncharted 3 and X-com, and platinum both Saint Row the third and Deus ex. Great for X-com cuz I was thinking about trade it in but haven't finished it, now I can.

You don't need to deactivate anything if it's a simple hard drive switch.  It's tied to the PS3, just back up the old hard drive to an external drive and restore it on the new one.

The big three games are supposed to be big, well-known, and popular games. LBP Karting is the biggest question mark of that group, but the rest fit that bill really well.

Ive paid about 35 dollars for 2 years of plus service. I have no right to complain when you consider the absurd amount of free games and savings Ive gotten

I actually thought Dark Souls would be a good addition, we had Demon's Souls and it would be natural extension and advertise for Dark Souls II.

So can you still get the platinum for UC3 with the free to play multiplayer? Isn't there a couple trophies for just playing one game.
I second this question. I have a sealed copy in steel book from the CE. I'll keep it if a physical copy is necessary to get the Plat.

It should be fine since I believe the FTP MP is what you get when you purchase the GOTY bundle on PSN. You can easily check just by downloading the FTP MP game and starting it up, which should add the game's trophy list to your collection. I believe that's how it was bumped up on mine after starting it up.

There is no set time limit for these games. While the previous titles had stayed for about a year; there’s nothing we’re saying about those 3 titles only that they’ll likely be around longer than the usual rotation times for the other Plus content. Hope that makes sense!

Sweet, I won't have to buy Xcom, thus I won't feel bad if I don't like it.  Hopefully I will like it, though.

I wish Vita had bigger memory cards.  My 32 GB is full.  I need to beat some games so I can delete them.

I would say Xcom is the biggest question mark, but to each their own. At the very least, I am happy I sold my copy of Karting for $30 now.
