I'm buying Atelier Totori and I'll decide on Soul Sacrifice after playing the demo.  Ironically, if I love Soul Sacrifice, I'll skip the sale so I can buy the cart.

I'm getting Katamari and Soul Sacrifice myself; maybe going to cave on Atelier Totori Plus as well. Gravity Rush is great, but free for Plus, and Ridge Racer is mostly paid DLC. Otherwise most of the stuff is kind of in the middle and going to depend on your preferences.

I'm buying you some reading comprehension books for the holidays my friend.
was just saying its not up yet..... maybe you should keep those books for yourself

Anyone have any sugestions for the vita titles for this week and aug 20th? i just bought Ninja gaiden sigma plus 2, and soul sacrifice...but don't want to youtube tons of reviews before i read from other cag's if the titles are good or not.
Getting Touch My Katamari.

Alzheimers patient keeps biting me.

Cheapest I've seen the cart is $30 and it's got an online pass so buying/selling used isn't very attractive to me.

If you're at all a fan of fighting games, I can't recommend Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core +R enough. Arguably the best fighting game (series) that has been released since the PS2 days.

I'm personally eyeing Ultimate MvC3, Street Fighter x Tekken, Muramasa, and Soul Sacrifice. Soul Sacrifice is specifically a weird one for me. I wasn't a fan at all of the gameplay design (dropped in a room, kill all monsters. next level. dropped in a room, kill all monsters) but i absolutely loved the setting, character designs, and what I saw of the plot. Definitely didn't consider it worth the full MSRP, but I think i can warrant it at the PS+ price. :D To those interested in it though, be sure you've tried the demo before purchasing.

After researching Atelier Totori Plus, I'm discouraged by the time limit. I like going at my own pace in games which is usually on the slow side. To those that have played it, can you go off and do your own thing, or are you constantly completing missions as quick as possible in order to reach the goal in time?

Pure Chess standalone doesn't seem to be on sale. Instead it appears a new bundle with all the DLC is what they were talking about on the podcast. Disappointing. But oh well. I got to grab onto some DuckTales anyway.

Curious about Soul Sacrifice since I just got some PSN credit to burn. I seem to remember it being pretty divisive around here. I'll download the demo when I get home. For those who have played it, is the demo a fair representation of the full game?

Yes and no. It gives you a basic feel for the gameplay but it doesn't really let you sample a ton of the build variety you can have in the full game. It does give you a nice taste of the story and world though. Basically if you're intrigued by the demo, you'll probably love the game even more. If your only negative feelings towards the demo come from low difficulty and lack of spell and build variety you can expect the full game to improve upon it a great deal.

Orgarhythm is on sale for $9.99 with no extra PS+ discount.
That looks to be a price drop.
I hope it's a permanent drop. The demo didn't click with me when it was on sale last time, and even at $10 I still won't bother. But if it hits the $2-$5 range it would be worth another look.

Yeah, usually the PS Blog "sales tips" are the worst ones anymore.

By the third chapter in Soul Sacrifice I started getting a little bit bored of it. There's a lot of spell and other customization, and the actual gameplay was fine, just starting to get repetitive. I think I probably only beat 10% or so of the game, so I decided to sell my copy now and I'll rebuy it years down the line if I can ever get it for $10 or less.

So I'm not saying it's a bad game, I had fun playing it. Just that it got repetitive to me rather quickly, and I personally didn't love all the different spell options. I look forward to playing it again in the future at a cheaper price.

that bothered me as well, but after a ton of research... i bought it. it sounds like the time limit is very forgiving, and iirc really only affects the ending you get. ng+ makes even the best ending attainable. so really, the time limit only affects you if you want to plat it in a single run, doing absolutely everything perfectly by a guide. sort of like P4G. Anyway, by most accounts the time given is more than adequate.

I'm afraid to say this, but I was playing the Soul Sacrifice demo and while I thought it was super easy at first, then I had to battle a boss thing (I think) and suddenly it felt annoyingly difficult. If the real thing is harder (the bosses) then I can probably pass this game up. LOL.

I think maybe I'll wait for next week and get Muramasa. Maybe get Touch My Katamari (after I try the demo) this week.

Or maybe I'll say screw it, save my money for Spelunky, and call it a day. :)

I noticed a couple of minis are on sale. Who's That Flying is $2.49 and it's a lot of fun. IT IS HOWEVER VERY SHORT. It's basically an old school horizontal shooter sped up with some humor in between stages. It was fun on the PSP.

Has anybody had any trouble purchasing the "Tomb Raider Bundle" ? Everytime I try to checkout it says "An error has occurred". Same with the website. I was able to download Runner2 and Soul Sacrifice just fine.

$7.99 for Fruit Ninja on Vita? Seriously? That's insane.

Not as insane as the Angry Birds Trilogy release at $40 plus multiple $5 DLC packs. I believe Fruit Ninja Kinect was $10 on 360 so at least that's on par. But any mobile game getting such a drastic markup deserves to be ignored at those prices. I felt like Doodle Jump Kinect at $5 was at least sensible (I still didn't buy it) since it was probably the cheapest they could get away with through Microsoft.

I just downloaded Runner 2 which I'm excited to play. Has anyone bought the Good Friends Character Pack for it? I'm curious how much they change the gameplay. I'll probably bite, but would like feedback first, please.

There are no missions. Shop owners have requests you can complete, but that's really all there is for missions. The rest is just story progression. You have to get points to upgrade your adventurer's license. So to progress the story you'll need to say get 500 points in a year. You get points for alchemy, exploring areas, defeating certain enemies, harvesting all points in an area, and defeating all enemies in an area. The game isn't that strict so don't be worried. I don't really think you can miss a lot unless you're behind by months at a time. You can complete everything in no time at all and have a ton of time left over at the end. I loosely followed a guide and I was still 30-45 days behind at all times. At the end I had to skip a good six months to get to the endings.

It seems to be relaxed enough to just play but to get the best ending requires absolute precision from what I read.

I think the time limit is pretty forgiving. The only real goal is to get a certain rank by the end of the three years, and you work towards your ranks by exploring, doing requests, fighting and making things. I achieved the rank necessary with several months left and I didn't do much exploring or fighting toward the end of it. It's pretty lax and if you get the rank by the end of the three years, you get three more years. Way better than Rorona in my opinion, and the NG+ is pretty good for it, too.

I'd give it a little more time and maybe try changing up your spell list. Exploiting elemental weaknesses and weak points is the main thing that speeds up boss kills, and if you go in with the wrong spell setup you can fuck yourself pretty hard.

It's also meant to be played online with a team of people.

So, apparently I can't buy the "Tomb Raider Bundle" because of the fact that it comes with "Quantum Conundrum" , a game in which I was "given" for free with playstation plus. The expiration date on that seems to conflict with a permanent copy.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any fixes? The Playstation Support person seemed to not know 100%.

Thanks everyone for the feedback on Aterlier Totori Plus. Sounds like the timing is more forgiving than I originally thought. Will be picking up to add to my massive Vita backlog.

I assume you are talking about the final demo boss Cerberus. He is crazy hard in the demo because your character isn't strong enough yet. In the real game you don't face him until later, and by that point you can take him out in two-three tries. The difficulty progression of the full game is good. It's all about learning enemy weaknesses http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/668738-soul-sacrifice/66093552, discovering the best spells for your play style, grinding your favorite spells, and learning how to fight each enemy type.

Whenever you get stuck on an enemy, grind for a while, then come back and wreck it. Even with the right spells, a tough boss is tough, so it's not just a matter of grinding, you need to have skill as well. I played this game a lot and highly rec it (along with Muramasa which I just beat the first story of in about 11hrs... man that was awesome and I want to play again to get all endings).

I ran into the same problem with Street Fighter IV. The copy I bought came with a code for a handful of DLC costumes. When Capcom eventually released the complete DLC pack that bundled all the DLC costumes I couldn't download it because I already owned a part of it.

AFAIK the only solution is to create an alt PSN account just to purchase that bundle. Then once it's downloaded you should be able to play it under your primary account.

The only thing I've ever heard suggested was to get the support rep to remove the PS+ thing from your account.

Thanks everyone! I'm working on it. But like an good support related to electronics, the first thing they always want to do is test the internet connection which takes forever.

Go get it for 1$ from Target by combining a p/m from Best Buy with the 20$ off with a preorder promotion.

Considering Katamari and Silent Hill Book of Memories even though I don't have a Vita yet.

Oh what? Breakquest is free? Sweet.
It's more of a demo with the way they set it up, as you have a limited amount of balls to use before you have to pay. If you like the game, you can just outright purchase an infinite unlock for $7.99.

With BreakQuest: Extra Evolution, we’re testing out the “Freemium” business model. We believe that this model is perfect for our game. Consider it an advanced demo of sorts, with scoreboards and Trophies working out of the box. By default, BreakQuest comes with 33 balls. When balls run out, you can purchase more ball packs with 100, 200, 500 balls. Also there’s an Infinite Ball unlock. There’s also a mechanism in game to create extra balls by catching ball parts.

I can't imagine that difficulty of Soul Sacrifice is nearly as high as the difficulty in Spelunky.

The Zen Pinball tables don't go on sale all that often, but they have before. The single Captain America and Fantastic 4 tables were half off before. They also did a 3 pack of tables for a decent price. I don't recall the other Marvel tables dropping in price, but I could be wrong.

So I guess this new Vita game A-Men is also a PS3 game?  Is that right, I've never heard of it before, but I guess it came out in March.  It doesn't sound like they are cross-buy, but they really should be for that price.  Also, the name A-Men is just terribe because it's ridiculously hard to search for.  Searching on the PSN Store mostly pulls up X-men stuff, and searching on Google mostly pulls up the word Amen.

Speaking of Vita pricing, along with Fruit Ninja, I think Open Me is overpriced as well.  I was expecting the normal AR games prices.

It's not really new, as it was a Vita launch title that took forever to make it over here.

Thanks for the suggestions...i did already pick up ninja gaiden, & soul sacrifice, had it rented a while back). the gimmies are muramasa, UMVC3, Soul, and MGS & SFxTekken to an extent...but what about Ragnarok Oddssey?

It's been stated earlier to avoid Ragnarok Oddessey unless you're dying to play it now because they are releasing an upgraded version later.

I read about some sort of "Gold Pass" for people who bought U.S., retail copies of Ridge Racer Vita... which had more content.  Can anyone confirm if the Ridge Racer Vita on sale is pretty much just the 'barebones'/limited digital download without additional stuff?  Doesn't sound like it's worth getting even at PS+ price, but I do like Ridge Racer :/
