So I saw a stack of 4GB Vita memory cards at Best Buy for $7. Is worth getting a few as opposed to waiting for a better deal on a bigger card?
No. Because every time you switch Vita cards it has to redo a bunch of stuff internally. Not worth the headache, trust me. At least get an 8GB. I have a 16GB and I still have to delete stuff. I won't defend Sony on the proprietary decision, it is a bit annoying. But, the Vita is such a good system, I don't know why they don't market this thing right now. I honestly prefer it to the 3DS.

Sorry for a D/P

I am debating between SS and NGS2, didn't see anything on the last post, but which do you guys recommend and why? I'm a huge NG fan, but I've heard bad things about the port of NGS2, and SS looks pretty awesome, but it does look repetitive.

If you're still on the fence about Atelier Totori, Eldritch, you can do what I did and play Infinite Undiscovery and Last Remnant, both of which are part of Gamestop's 3 for $10 sale starting tomorrow. Both are fairly unique as JRPGs go and scratched the itch for me. Likewise, God Eaters Burst makes a satisfying alternative to Soul Sacrifice, though I don't know if you can still play multiplayer in that. (Maybe through ad-hoc via PS3?)

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/08/18/the-drop-week-of-august-19th-2013-new-releases/

Here's The Drop for this week:

PlayStation Network

Saints Row IV (Also on PSN) – In the next open-world installment of Saints Row, Deep Silver Volition continues the story of the Third Street Saints by elevating their status to the highest level – the leaders of the free world.

Saints Row IV lets players delve into an arsenal of alien weaponry and technology that will turn each Saint into an ultimate entity of destruction. Utilize out-of-this-world superpowers to fight all the way to the top. With intensified action and enhanced customization, players can use their newfound superpowers and leap over buildings, outrun the fastest sports cars, or send enemies flying with telekinesis in the greatest, most insane installment of Saints Row yet. Save the world, Saints Style.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified - The battle of humans against an invading alien force erupts in The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, a new story and unique gameplay experience set inside one of gaming’s most storied and beloved franchises. Set in 1962 at the height of the Cold War, The Bureau tells the origin story of the clandestine XCOM organization’s first encounter with a mysterious and devastating enemy. Originally established as America’s covert defense against the Soviet Union, The Bureau must adapt and overcome a threat unlike anything the world has faced before. As special agent William Carter, players will call the shots and pull the trigger, leading their squad of agents in the high-stakes secret war for humanity’s survival. Paramount to repelling the outside threat is The Bureau’s ability to cover-up the enemy’s existence in order to prevent worldwide panic.

In the spirit of the XCOM franchise, The Bureau’s calculated combat design requires players to think and act tactically. The game’s third-person perspective gives the player a sense of spatial awareness and grants them the freedom to transition in and out Carter’s unique Battle Focus ability seamlessly — heightening the tactical shooter action. The Bureau also fully embraces the concept of permanent consequence. As our last line of defense, every command can mean the difference between life and death for Carter, his squad and mankind.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist - The United States has a military presence in two thirds of countries around the world. A group of 12 have had enough and initiate a terror ultimatum called the Blacklist — a deadly countdown of escalating terrorist attacks on U.S. interests. Sam Fisher is the leader of the newly formed 4th Echelon unit: a clandestine unit that answers solely to the President of the United States. Sam and his team must hunt down these terrorists by any means necessary, and stop the Blacklist countdown before it reaches zero.

Unleash the power of the most lethal agent to ever exist. You’ve been given the ultimate freedom to protect innocents against the Blacklist terror attacks known as — the freedom to use limitless force, to break every law, and to become the globe’s deadliest operative. If you succeed, the President of the United States will deny you exist. If you fail, millions will die.

Divekick (Cross Buy + Cross Play PS3/PS Vita) – You can only dive into the air with the Dive button (it’s a jump) and then propel yourself toward the ground with a mighty kick, using the Kick button. Kicking while on the ground will cause you to bounce away from your opponent. The first hit wins each round; first to five rounds wins the game!

As simple as this sounds, trust that underestimating your opponent is a dangerous mistake. Movement is unorthodox, and players are unable to guard against incoming attacks. Finding the optimal spot to stand in order to score a counter is key, but actually standing in that position is a lot harder than you’d think! Players can also build up their Kick-Meter to activate Kick-Factor, a super charged mode in which your character dives higher and kicks faster. Watch your head, however, as one solid foot to the face scores a headshot and leaves you with a concussion in the next round. Stunned players don’t dive as high or kick as fast, leaving them at a massive disadvantage.

Air Conflicts: Pacific Carriers – Air Conflicts: Pacific Carriers combines authentic Second World War settings and a fictitious story that will lead the player through arcade-flight action.

Demos

  • NHL 14
  • Rayman Legends
PlayStation 2 Classics

Naval Ops Commander – The true sequel to the original Kurogane no Houkou, Naval Ops: Commander returns to the series’ heavier tactic-oriented roots and emphasizes construction and strategy over action. New features include the TBG Tactical Battle Group System (which allows players to have real-time control over their primary warship), additional camera viewpoints, 200 different weapons, 1000 different ship parts, and over 80 varied stages.

Kessen III – Follow-up to Koei’s first two strategy games, set in ancient Japan.

Gah! I was really hoping Spelunky would drop this week... That and Runner 2 are my most anticipated Vita releases. I'm trying to stay strong and not start them on another platform but the lack of release date announcements is making it really tough.

I don't think there's any harm in trying Runner2 now. The levels demand to be played repeatedly, anyway.

Yeah, I like the NG games too but I'm going to pick the Sigma editions up on PS3 instead. That's there's no videos of anyone actually playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus on YouTube to see how bad the performance issues are is a bad sign when everything has YouTube videos.

Yeah, I had both when I had a 360 and Gods Eater Burst I believe is still free through Plus but it didn't click the way the SS demo and Monster Hunter did. I'm pretty sure I'm grabbing Atelier Totori though since I had some stuff sell on eBay today.

I actually played the whole first world on PS3. My thing is I don't want to lose a ton of progress; I'd like to go for 100% completion eventually and I'd rather make that effort on the Vita than the PS3.

i don't know if this is anything, but i was at target and was looking around and saw PS+ cards that heavily leaned on 'Instant Game Collection'  (as in, that phrase seemed more prominent than PS+).

Anyway, the card had a pile of games pictured on it.... games that aren't in the IGC.   Games like CoD: Blops, Journey, and more.

Is this news?  Possible new entries to be announced on tuesday at gamescom?  I took a photo and can list all the games, etc, but don't want to waste my time if this has already been discussed to death in some other thread that i missed.

I actually want to see the photo.

photo is from an iphone, so a bit fuzzy.

Games include

CoD: Black Ops,

Journey

Far Cry 2

Altered Beast

Infamous 2

Uncharted 3

Borderlands (not sure which?)

God of War (not sure which?)

Infamous Festival of Blood

Resident Evil 4  (i think?)

Ghost Recon (not sure which)

they were all easy to make out in the store, i just can't remember and the photo is just blurry enough... someone here should be able to name em

Interseting. While I would be totally down with Journey showing up next month, starting to get the two year old COD games is far less appealing. I'm sure if none of it comes to PS+ they'll just chalk it up as a representation of the games available on PSN and what could be available at some point.

Looks like a standard PS+ card to me -- it exactly matches one I've got sitting here that I bought from Best Buy a month or so ago.

odd that they'd have games not in the IGC on an IGC card, though, isn't it? i'm wondering if this represents some of the big 'yearly switchout' games.

This is the same splash image that's been used since the IGC launched at E3 2012. Pretty much everything pictured has been offered free (Borderlands, UC3, Far Cry 2) or with a special Plus discount (Journey). There's not much you can draw from it at this point.

Well they just did the yearly switchout so that won't be happening again soon.

I don't think the pictures have any significance, but that's just my 2 cents.

ok, fair enough. i have so much ps+ stacked i haven't looked at cards in awhile and just happened to notice Blops and Journey and thought it was odd. if this is standard, it's standard.

Looked different than the cards I've gotten but maybe I just had old ones or something.

What sale is that? I saw their BOGO sale last week on select games and was tempted to pick up Enslaved and something else. That sounds better.

ill have soul sacrifice by tuesday. iv been playing mp with bumslie and getting$ on r.o. it should be same fun or better hopefully?>
I already finished SS and it plays way better than RO. I wish I went from RO to SS than SS first. I enjoyed SS a lot especially with a good online team.

I'll go with this option. Most of the games on that card haven't had anything more than a sale for PS+, so it seems more like random items that are pictured.

Here's the high-res version of the card that's currently up on Amazon's page for a PS+ 1 year code:

There are at least 10 games on the list that haven't been in the IGC, so I doubt that it means anything in terms of what's coming next month. They've probably all been on sale at some point for PS+, but that's about it that ties them together. If it were a

Tried the demo for Soul Sacrifice and the story presentation is very interesting and the combats fun. Is the entire game arena battles? I'm not sure how much enjoyment I would get out if arena only battles, little too restrictive for me.

Yes, only arena style battles. (Its MH style gameplay.)

So I bought totori plus, touch my katamari (owned the cartridge before, but traded it in.), and Silent Hill (figured I might since the physical copy is still $20 at GS).

Next week will be little kings story for sure and maybe muramasa.

Now I just need to get a card big enough to download all of this! My current card is pretty much consumed by GR and I have yet to beat it. (About 1/3 thru it. Beat the spider boss.)

One more day to decide on soul sacrifice, $17.xx is a good price but i have a feeling the physical cart will be on sale around that price in the near future. I think I'll save that memory for DOA plus, Ultimate MvC, and Dynasty Warriors next. Anyone have thoughts on New Little kings story, is it worth the Hamilton($10)?

i'm picking up NLKS for $10. I played about 1/3 to half of it on wii and found it quite enjoyable. It didn't quite live up to its potential tactically, but it was still fun. The vita version completely changed the visual and story presentation (more anime, less cutesy) which pissed off some people, and made others happy. The only serious complaint i've heard is that during certain scenes that are very crowded there is slowdown, but i'm okay with that.

i've been wanting to finish it ever since i found out it existed on vita, and nows the chance.

basic gameplay is that you run around with a squad of subjects in various formations. iirc, different button presses send off your subjects. so, you could send a lumberjack at a tree to cut it down or a soldier at an enemy to fight it. iirc, you can send the wrong class to do something, but they won't be as good at it.

you start out with untrained subjects, and basically unlock 'jobs' for them. so you can rock a squad of soldiers to go beat a boss, or switch it up for a more mundane mission. it's fun. the biggest issue with the wii version imo was that when you sent off, say, a soldier to do something, it was very much like firing a rocket... if you missed by a fraction of an inch, you missed, and the solider wouldn't be like 'oh, i'm supposed to fight that giant spider!' and instead come back to you. not the end of the world, though.

fragmented memories, it's been a couple years since i played it. but i have fond enough memories to buy it this time around.

I hope they book Dragon Fantasy Book 1 on sale for half price (or more) to celebrate the release of book 2.
Really that's a pretty badass sequence of new psn releases. Divekick -> Spelunky -> KickBeat -> DF Book II? Dang.

Yeah, Kickbeat looks surprisingly cool.  And I'm starting to get more interested in Divekick now that I've seen some gameplay videos.

I don't think I'll be buying any of them day 1, but I'll probably own 3 of the 4 of them eventually.

Am I crazy for considering a Silent Hill for the vita purchase? I like the demo and it has multiplayer? Is the whole game the same, kind of mind numbingly redundant feeling? I could see that turning me off.
How is it that you like the demo but then refer to it as "mind numbingly redundant?"

Spelunky is a day one for me with the discount. I still haven't bought nor played DF Book 1. But I'd like to get into it someday so both of those are a future purchase for me down the line.

guess i should look into dfb 2 a little more now. it was going to be a day one, but now that they upped the price, i should go see if they improved enough to be worth it.

wow, big week for me. star wars pinball, nlks, dead or alive 5+(thinking about it), and killzone mercenary beta. probably more excited for the beta than any of it though.

Wow add Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon and Nun Attack to the list of games I'll be buying this week.

Guacamelee is great for anyone who hasn't actually played it yet.  A little short for my tastes, but the combat is shockingly good.  Mutant Blobs Attack (the Vita one) is a must have for any Vita owner as well.  Tales from Space (the PS3 one) is very good as well, but not quite as good as MBA.

So this week for sure for me will be:

Star Wars Pinball

Darkstalkers

Nun Attack

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon

New Little Kings Story

That's a big week for me, even though I won't bother downloading Darkstalkers.  And there's a very outside chance I end up with Muramasa as well.

The previous game from Drinkbox.. is Mutant Blobs.. or Tales from Space.. or are they the same game?

I keep reading that I should also play their previous game (and it was on PS+ at one point right?)
