:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

That new Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions update is huge and in the same tier as the Challengers update for Resogun that adds a ton of content to the game for free. There are two new modes with one being a hardcore mode (no drone/supers, 20 levels) and the other being a new campaign with 40 new levels and at least one new type of level (no shots, but you have a Snake/Tron-style lazer tail following your ship with which to take out enemies). The Classic mode has a new level that is basically the original Geometry Wars' Evolved mode with no geodes to collect, though the progression at the beginning seems to be a little quicker than the original. They tweaked the progression in the main Adventure mode, which means smaller requirements to unlock drones and it should be a little bit easier. There are also a new drone (Sweep that orbits around your ship to take out nearby enemies) and a new super (Detonate that creates several small explosions to take out enemies around the level). I don't see any new trophies to go with this, so there's nothing new in that regard.

Hey Frisky, I just noticed your WiiU name is friendlytanuki.

Is that your choice because Nintendo is a family friendly console or did they make you pick a different name?

"Crash" was blocked by their filters as an inappropriate word for usernames, so I used the same username my Japanese PSN account has that is a Mission Hill reference ("Orange Friendly Frog. The Spicy Pants of Champions") to lampoon that.

Yeah, I mentioned it earlier. Amazing amount of content. Could have easily been paid DLC. Great game support by the devs.

Wow! Thanks for the heads up. I remember hearing it was huge but I'd done everything but the local coop trophies for the plat (really?! coop trophies in a dual stick shooter?)

Sounds like i have more to go back to. And maybe the 60fps shareplay/remote play will make shareplay coop workable? anyone good at it want to grab those trophies with me?

So OT but for those Bloodborne fans out there a new bug was discovered. If you leave the game on for 12+ hours the bosses all become much easier to defeat.  So anyone who has been doing marathon sessions they may have run into this and not even realized it.  It also makes you wonder about the speed runs and low level feats we have seen.

Excuse me while I turn Bloodborne on and finally get further into the game :whistle2:

I love how the PC people are throwing a fit over Bloodborne not being on PC. Petitions and everything, But the odds of it happening are pretty much nil. Should always be a PS4 exclusive :D/

Those "PC people" are actually xboys crying over the sad truth that they will never have an exclusive like Bloodborne

Bloodborne was amazing...but for some reason I dont feel like playing thru NG+

I just want to play through DSII since I never beat it.

Yep Demon Souls never left the PlayStation and Bloodborne will never leave either. From Software will probably just release another game called SoulBorne or WaterBorne and make it multiplat. like they did with Dark Souls.

Gotta ask a newb question because I can't figure it out.

I bought a bunch of games from the flash sale recently and started to download the rest.  On a few of them, mostly the episodic ones like Back to the Future, I can download from episode 2 on fine but I always have an unlock key and a demo for episode one, after downloading the key it starts downloading the demo.  I figured I could just go to the ps store and download episode 1 there but even though it doesn't mention a demo when I choose episode 1, it still downloads it as a demo.  Can anyone help me out here, the same thing happened with Payday.

Also thanks in advance to whoever can explain this in simple terms for me.

The demo is the full game but requires the unlock key to be turned into the full game, so download both and you'll have the full episode.

It does with SharePlay.

I got LEGO Batman 2, but I was thinking of getting Injustice, or Arkham Asylum. I wasn't really impressed with Injustice compared to Mortal Kombat 9, but $12 with all of the DLC seems like a no-brainer. Which of the two is the better game? I've heard good things about the Arkham games, but never played any of them.

I have Injustice. It's fun to play, but not nearly as fun as Mortal Kombat 9. It'd probably be a lot more fun if I was really into DC or something, but a lot of the characters don't hold any sort of personal feelings for me, so it's just a Mortal Kombat clone with no fatalities and with characters I don't care about.

That being said, even though I like the style of game Arkham Asylum is, because I'm not really a huge DC/Batman fan, I enjoyed the demo but didn't really feel I needed to put any money into playing such a game. It looked like it really was probably quite fun, but I wouldn't really have enjoyed the characters all that much. In terms of gameplay and action though, if you can either live with not being interested in the characters or think you'll actually enjoy them, the game is fairly awesome. Good controls, good combat, it's pretty fun in terms of those aspects.

Arkham's probably the better game, but they're both good. I just started playing Injustice today and was surprised at how much I'm enjoying the story, but I doubt it compares favorably to AA.

Was hoping they would have an Easter flash sale..
Same here.

But.. Last year they had a big flash sale (someone already posted the old blog link) that dropped *after* easter..

Then again, we did just have a big flash sale a few weeks back. Maybe that was the Easter flash sale we've been looking for.

All the PSN credit values are back in stock at Amazon. I guess they simply did go through their stock. It seems the PSN store is doing pretty good.

Need advice about Arkham Origins. I have it on disc, still sealed. I can either keep the disc and buy the Season Pass, or try to sell/trade the disc and get the "Ultimate Bundle". As far as I can tell, the bundle includes the game, season pass, and the Knightfall pack, the last of which seems to be free anyway, is that right?

I think if Origins was going to get a retail release with all the DLC on disc it would have happened by now. $10 for the whole package might be the best deal for a long time.

ok guys quick question regarding the persona 4 ultimax dlc. Is it possible to unlock the persona 4 arena story through regular play or do you have to buy it? Also are the characters worth it was thinking of buying them since I haven't seen the dlc on sale ever.......

Anybody get the email from Sony regarding the Vita settlement?  Had heard some people were getting it, but I havent received one yet

never heard a thing and i got my vita march 2012
I hadnt either and saw it mentioned in passing in the Vita for $170 thread. Then i looked it up myseld. Google Vita settlement. (I'm sure you already have). I cant say this to be 100% certain but i think it applies to anyone who purchased before June 2012 and it appears we will get either a $25 refund, or $50 worth of crappy preselected games

Someone in the thread about the class action lawsuit (in the CAG Vita forums) posted a link to the actual form that you need to print out and send in. Assuming you have proof that you purchased it when you did (Serial# / SIRIS# work).

I guess the link from the email was done incorrectly, so not sure how the right link was found.

Here's The Drop for this week:

New PlayStation Games This Week

Aaru’s Awakening
PS4, PS3 — Digital (Cross Buy)

When Aaru’s Awakening started out as a school project at the University of Reykjavík, the team wanted to create an original platformer. They thought the genre is congested, so new ideas were essential. Inspired by the teleportation gun in Unreal Tournament, the team came up with the idea of a teleportation themed platformer.

Bastion
PS4 — Digital

Bastion is an action role-playing experience that redefines storytelling in games, with a reactive narrator who marks your every move. Explore, upgrade weapons, and fight your way to victory.

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin
PS4, PS3 — Digital, Retail

The definitive edition of Dark Souls II, including all the Dark Souls II content released to-date in one package. Upgraded visuals leap from 30 frames per second to a targeted 60 frames per second with 1080p gameplay, adding a whole new level of smoothness.

Element4l
PS Vita — Digital

Element4l is an immersive and experimental platform game, with a strong focus on flow and smooth gameplay, wrapped in an exceptional soundtrack by Mind Tree. In Element4l, you control four elements that are bound together on a journey to shape life. Your only hindrances are nature and the sun. It takes a different, innovative approach to classic platform games and challenges you to rearrange your reflexes.

Krinkle Krusher
PS4, PS3, PS Vita — Digital (Three-Way Cross Buy)

Krinkle Krusher is an action castle defense where you cast elemental spells to defend your kingdom from twisted and hungry creatures called Krinkles.
After several generations of peace, they happen to come back exactly when the Ancient Tree bears its first fruits in centuries, and of course a cake was made from it.

MonsterBag
PS Vita — Digital

Forgetful Nia leaves behind her monster backpack, V, on her way to the bus stop. In a world afraid of monsters, help V catch up to Nia while avoiding being seen by the humans. Oh, yeah! Watch out for the apocalypse.

Stealth Inc. 2: A Game of Clones
PS4, PS3, PS Vita — Digital (Three-Way Cross Buy)

Stealth Inc. 2 is a puzzle platformer where you play the role of a clone escaping a sinister and high-tech testing facility. Stealth Inc. 2 tests both your brain and your reflexes across 60 varied levels linked together in a sprawling overworld. Death is never more than a few moments away, but one of the few advantages of being a clone is that death isn’t all that permanent.

Tower of Guns
PS4, PS3 — Digital (Cross Buy)

Tower of Guns is a fast-paced, bullet-hell, first person shooter with randomized levels and enemies, power-ups, epic bosses, and tons of unlockable items and weapons. You never know what to expect next! It is a pure FPS experience for players who just want to shoot stuff, battle gigantic bosses, collect loot, and upgrade their abilities.
If you liked the original Stealth Inc, the sequel basically takes that idea and puts it in a Metroid-esque overworld to explore between stages.

I took advantage of that $4 for 500 rewards points deal (got 2000 points), but Sony Rewards is taking their sweet time processing my order.

You can buy Asylum and City for a reasonable price at Gamestop. But if you don't like your blu ray drive emitting lots of heat, go digital. Origins I'm not sure.

I posted a few weeks ago about the servers for NBA 2K14 shutting down and asked about how that would affect the game. Apparently, if you had a career going, you'll have to start over because those saves required an online check-in to keep functioning. This has been one of my big issues with 2K's microtransaction/server-based functionality of the past few NBA 2K games, though 2K14 took a turn for the worse with this stuff.

Granted, NBA 2K14's career mode on the current-gen consoles is pretty bad with the fact that there's no free agency at all, so you could only get traded to move to a new team. 2K15 doesn't even let you get drafted as a sign of how story-heavy their career modes have gotten to remove player agency from the narrative that most other sports games offer in this genre.

I finally went out and got a $20 PSN card. Which should I pick up - Axiom Verge PS4 for $18 or the Batman: Arkham City/Arkham Origins PS3 bundles for roughly the same price?

If you want a reason to get Axiom Verge:

That screams bullshit to me. You do sales depending on how a game is doing, sales wise. You lower prices to get buyers. It will be free for ps plus in august im guessing

Yep, I mentioned that the saves are online connection dependent. We learned that when their servers couldn't stay up. I don't remember which modes at this point but there's some that you wouldn't expect that weren't even accessible offline.
