:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

Here's another endorsement for combining the PS+ discounts, I've never liked the two separate lists.  But I greatly appreciate what Frisky does for us!

When everything catches your eye, nothing catches your eyes.
it's easier to read. I'm not saying every line be a different color.. just a COLOR other than white.

White does not stand out nearly as good as, well any color.

Which catches your eye better?

This? or This?

(bet you saw the red before you even read my post..)

When the entire thread is white on black, and the sales are listed exactly like every other post... it does not differentiate from the rest.

Frisky's layout is fine, some of the color changes would be welcomed by me for sure. But again, the icons were a little much.

(When I look at the OP, I look at the links long before I read the post for the sales, because the links stand out)

When everything's shades of orange or blue, what do you focus on? None of it, because you can't decide on a focal point.

^THIS Is better. Don't really need the icons, just one at the top with the PS3 section maybe. Change the orange color of non linked games to a color closer to the link color would be my only other suggestion. Or maybe keep them a little different to *show* the link to the store page.

If the above hurts your eyes and you can't focus... I suggest getting eyes checked.

black background, wall of white text. THERE IS NO FOCAL POINT other than the letters at the end... which have pretty much nothing to do with the price, and links to the store pages. The above suggestion, the name AND the price stand out to me. (again the letters at the end though)

The focal point SHOULD be the games on sale, not the letters at the end, or the random links.

I originally posted this in the flash sale thread but I'm sharing it here too because this is crucial information every CAG should know.

For anyone thinking of buying Alien Breed. The PS3 version is 50 cents less than the Vita version and, both versions are cross buy, so there is really no reason to pay more for the Vita version. I'm not sure if it was said earlier but I thought I'd mention it here because I almost made a costly mistake.
DAMN, where was this info two days ago? LOL

I'm a cheap bastard no question about that, but even I won't complain over .50.

I have no idea where to put this question, really. It's not a big deal, though. Anyways, I need some trigger grips for my OLED Vita. Does anybody know of any decent-priced good ones left? Most are for the Slim model, but there are some alright looking old generic ones I've seen on Amazon and elsewhere. Reviews usually say they break easily or whatever, though. and I'm not a fan of that boomerang one really. Anyways, any help would be awesome. Preferably $15 and under. Also, does the old PDP grips really scratch the Vita's triggers or are they just not that good, they look nice at least, but most people I've read complain about them? I might be able to get those for a good price if they're any good. Well, thanks anyways. Oh, and if there's a good discussion I'm sure I've missed already, please just point me in the right direction. I've had a Vita since near launch and all I have is that cheap silicone Sony crap on it. Poor thing.

N++ will be mine. I read the devs plan to raise the $20 price later and don't expect to offer much sales, so if interested grab now while it's $16 pre-order.

I really hope it has online multiplayer ^^;

I just bought a PDP Trigger Grip for the OLED Vita. I ended up paying about $15 for it and I've seen them on Ebay and Amazon for around $40 so I thought why not. However, most people say they scratch up the Vita or cause other problems, yet get favorable reviews most of the time. Does anybody have these or any advice on how to stop damage? I should get them in about a week, and I'm curious if I should be getting ready to send them back or not. Lol. Anyways, I always liked they way they looked better than most of the other affordable older grips. I've seen a few generic ones that look fine nowadays, too. I've had my Vita since near launch and the poor thing has only had that cheap Sony silicone this whole time. Also, my hands hurt like hell now and I decided to cave in. They had a 14-day money back return policy so I guess it can't hurt. Any help is appreciated.

While I don't really get this as being very consumer-friendly, and I really want a Vita version, I'm probably in on this and Galak-Z. Already own Journey, so that's a no-brainer. Need to look more into ...The Rapture. Never got hyped enough for it, I guess. Too bad they said they will only port N++ to Vita if it sells well on the PS4 first. I'm getting tired of that, it doesn't usually lead to anything. Same with Galak-Z. They made a big deal about a Vita port and then couldn't do it, which I understand. it would probably lose a lot of the detail to bring it over and it looks great. I love these kinds of games on the Vita most, though. But lately when they port them after the fact it feels lazy, like Resogun just isn't the same as the PS4 one. Geometry Wars is another that comes to mind. They're good enough just not as good. This probably also speaks highly of how much I enjoy the PS4 now. I haven't had it for a very long time but love it, Vita's still my favorite, though. Anyways, looking forward to the next few weeks just as much. Also N++ comes out on my birthday! So yeah, I'm still alive and getting older. Hooray!

I have the PDP grip for my OLED (just got the 2000 series for my new shiny Vita 2001)

It does not touch the front of the Vita at all. the only place mine even touches anything other than the metal side, is a tiny place on the back near the indents on the back. I just grabbed the OLED and took the grip off, little rub marks right by the shoulder buttons on the front. They rubbed out with a micro fiber cloth.

Back side..

296cj68.jpg

This is really the only scratches that are from the grip. most of the other scratches you see around the edges are from not having anything on the Vita, I don't always have the grip on.

Some of it actually came out with the cloth and elbow grease.

Keep in mind I bought the OLED used also.. It wasn't in pristine shape to begin with.

Before you put the grip on, check for any rough edges that may scratch.

The grip is great on the Vita, the 2000 series is much different.. Getting used to the angle change, but so far I really like it. (trigger button isn't as smooth though.. may just need time/usage)

Well I can say I'm happy with my THC purchase. I never finished BL2 because it was traded along with the rest of my ps3 games to pay for my ps4 when preorders went live at gamestop.

This helps a lot, thank you! I feel a lot better about getting it now. I'm not too worried about a little thing here and there as long as it's doing the job. I also don't mind taking care of my system so that sounds fine. Anyways, thanks for all the info and advice, I really appreciate it. I need to go ahead and grab a new model Vita sometime down the road. I can just tell some games would play so much better on it, but I love that OLED and there's too much stuff coming out to really worry about it. Well I don't want to get into that debate, anyways. They're both great. Thanks, again!

The revamped OP is live.
I'm probably posting too much in a row, but that looks good. Then again, I thought it was fine before, too. It also looks like it would take a lot more time and energy now, but if you don't mind and everybody's happy with it, then cool. To be honest, I just use the web store mostly nowadays and then double check the first post sometime during the week to make sure I didn't miss anything. Anyways, good job, Frisky. Now I'm sure somebody will find a reason to bitch about it. Lol. Have fun! :)

I have two PDP grips for my two OLED Vitas, they work great! The one thing I have read, as a suggestion, is to glue small pieces of felt onto the PDP grip triggers, where they contact the Vita triggers themselves. It is possible that the PDP triggers may scratch the Vita triggers, and the felt makes them smoother/easier to operate. I haven't done that yet with mine, but I may soon. These grips are really nice quality and make the Vita much easier to hold and operate for longer periods of time.

Just to also give my experience with the PDP Trigger Grip. I have three different grips, had one I liked but bought the PDP and another generic one as "backups" because I figured that OLED stuff would be out of production and be really expensive to replace in the future.

I don't think I have any scratches from the grip but I have screen protectors on the front and back. I vaguely remember someone saying something about they put stickers where the pdp triggers touched the shoulder button just on the actual button to prevent them from being scratched. I am not sure if it really helped them out that much, as I didn't bother trying that myself, but maybe something to keep in mind that you could put a sticker or some kind of strip of adhesive felt or something if it's a concern

Edit: chimpmeister beat me to the punch regarding attaching something to the vita shoulder buttons as well as the felt. At least someone else heard of that as an idea so now I won't feel like I was just making it up lol

Cool, yeah i read that about the triggers, it was really the only big complaint, and was thinking of lining or padding it as well. I'll probably use felt or something too, thanks. It's good to hear that these are good grips. If it's just a minor surface scratch but it makes the system more comfortable I'm willing to take that risk. I'm glad I probably won't have to, though. I've had it for so long and didn't use anything but a screen protector and thin silicone case, I really don't think I would notice or freak too much unless it's just something really unsightly. That's awesome, I hardly notice using the triggers much, to be honest. I mean like a lot. I have with a few imports, like Taiko Drum Master, but really just occasionally in most games. Maybe I do and just don't notice, though. I love PlayStation controls, I feel the PS3 and PS4 are a little bit too spacious between action buttons and the Vita is a little cramped, but if they could find a medium it would be just perfect. Anyways, thank you for the input and advice. I really appreciate it.

Thanks. Seriously, It's a big help for when I get the grip in the mail. It's hard to find stuff for the older models, so I honestly appreciate all the input and advice I can get. I was really kind of worried from a few reviews I read that I'd put it on and my Vita would look like hell when i popped it out. It looks good and now I can't wait to try it out. My hands have been killing me for the last 3 years. Lol.

This is off-topic, but I just want you to know I hate you for getting Taiko no Tatsujin V already. Mine hasn't shipped cause there's a Nendoroid in the same order.
LOL. I totally didn't see that coming. I'm sorry. It's awesome, btw, so there's that. How long do you have to wait? My only problem with it is some of the really popular songs were cut pretty short but not too bad considering all that's there. Also. I suck at Donder quest, but that's my own fault. It's killer on the hands, but lots of fun.

Edit: Ok, now I'm curious. If you don't mind me asking, what Nendoroid did you get?

My order was literally ready just Friday.

And it's this cutie:

Was going to post about the Alien Breed deal... but already well covered.  $0.50 may not be much but that's 1/3 the price of Pocket Fighter right now.. so I'll take the extra discount.

I tried to make my purchases for the flash sale and week sales earlier but the web store wasn't having it and then it crashed.  Thankfully I got it all done this evening.   Alien Breed, Pocket Fighter, Manhunt, Max Payne, LA Noir Rockstar Pass, & PowerStone Collection were all I grabbed.   I think I'll save the rest of my store credit for the next sales.

///////

As for the OP changes... I didn't get a chance to chime in earlier as I was busy all weekend... but I never really minded the way things were done.  I don't visit many other  bulletin boards anymore and this thread is the most meaningful to my game purchases these days.

I'm not upset with any of the changes but some stuff is irksome and I have a couple suggestions I wish would be considered.  Oh and there is also some positive feedback.

PS+ IGC being up top is silly.  I don't care how other threads do it... I don't want to have to scroll past that every single week to get to the real reason I'm here... the sales.  Please drop it back down below sales where it was before.  When this thread is replaced in the future, you could make it the second post of the thread ... though at least please put it back below the sales.

I know Pre-orders always came top of the list but that could be bumped below the current sales.  Even pre-orders on sale.   Same for Promotions as they don't change that much very often unlike sales.

Maybe Promotions, Pre-Orders then PS+ below current sales but above Music?

I was at first bothered by the combining of PS+ sales prices in, but I did appreciate the way the PS Blog posts grouped sales prices like that before.   If anything please consider removing the %Off numbers and put the original price in Parenthesis out to the side.  Maybe:

GameTitle - ($OriginalPrice) - $SalePrice - $PS+Price

It'll save you some time dealing with the %'s which ultimately don't mean that much and it'll make the lines a little easier to read without the extra content.  It'll probably even help those on phones and other devices have less horizontal content.   Those of us with basic math skills will see the original price and can tell from that if it's a good deal or not.

I appreciate not having the system logos in the sections for each specific platform.  It looks better with out them.  Thank you for not even considering that change!   Also I like the addons being below the system sales as a collective rather than below the specific system, thanks for moving them.  It makes the thread easier to use.

One last suggestion, whenever this thread gets closed and the new one comes, please consider reserving all the posts that would normally make up the first page so no one posts videos or other content in that first page.  As is, the first page takes a crazy amount of time to load in firefox even on a crazy fast connection due to the embedded media.   Just food for thought as it's the most frustrating part of coming to this thread (easily my favorite thread on the internet).  Maybe use some of the other posts to break out Pre-Orders and PS+ IGC?

You could even put the PS+ IGC historical data in a collapsible think like on the PSTV compatibility thread and make the overall thread shorter.  Or even do that with each section of data so we only have to expand what we are interested in.

Whatever you do frisky, please know that I am very thankful to you for compiling all this stuff, formatting it, and updating it regularly.  Thank you! It has been a key to helping me build a massive PS3 collection.  Also a thanks to the other regs that note the deals outside of PS Store.  This little community has been very helpful to this super cheap old gamer.

Fight Night Round 3 for PSP has been in my cart all weekend mainly because I have a Memory Stick Duo Mini SD card adapter coming in from Amazon. Can anyone convince me to buy the game?

Forgot that Alien Breed was only on sale for the weekend... just bought a $10 card for it....

I'm a special type of special aren't I?

Tried to convince myself to buy Journey and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture pre-orders at 0% off to also get the 10% off, but I can wait on those games and the only two games I want in September are MGS V and maybe Mad Max, which would only get me $12 back. I'd end up spending almost $30 to get $12 off. I think I'll wait.

If you're not married to going digital then Mad Max and MGS V both have $10 reward certificate deals at Best Buy.
