:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

Don't know if anyone really cares....but I found this interesting

I suppose it's possible, but the line "In my boot camp, reviewers were charging through missions wearing the chicken hat (which makes you invisible) almost completely ignoring Mother Base and all the side-ops in a race for the 'end'."

... seems off. Either the gamespot or ign review [or maybe both] specifically mention how much they loved doing all the side-ops and how they spent a huge amount of time playing with Mother Base. In fact, both went into great detail on MB iirc.

Excellent PS+ lineup for September. Glad that Grow Home won. (I know I am in the minority because most people in this thread think indie games are 'trash'.)

I like indie games but that's a whole lot of meh for me. A lot of people just bought Teslagrad and La-Mulana during the sales and Xeodrifter is great but about 2 hours long. Not sure who's clamoring for Twisted Metal at this point.

Bought Teslagrad for $6 and regretted it.

Now I regret it even more.

At this point I don't even care about the quality of the free games, just how many that I don't already own so this is a decent month!

Also I just realized Super Time Force Ultra shorthanded is STFU.

You should try. Indie just means the devs aren't owned by a large company like, say, Ubi.

genrewise indies are generally all over the place.

Grow Home -- adventure/platforming
Super Time Force Ultra - - side scrolling shooter
Twisted Metal -- that was a joke, i figured you knew what that was
Xeodrifter - metroid inspired
Teslagrad - side scrolling puzzle platformer
La Mulana EX -- metroidvania

most if not all of them get absolutely fantastic reviews from critics and, if available, on steam.
shows sony gave up on vita wheni ts just indie games coming for now on PSN+

at least its better then the last 6+ months probally the best month for the vita and that is just sad saying that

Next month's PS+ line up looks good. La Mulana EX was played during the stream for the countdown to the end of Bloodstained's kickstarter, and I thought it looked fun. I held off on buying it the last two times it was on sale because it seemed like it would be a PS+ game. And now it is.

I'm also looking forward to Twisted Metal and Super Time Force Ultra. I'm not familiar with the other three. It's nice that all three are playable on the PS4.

Excellent PS+ line up.  I own none of those but actually was planning to buy La Mulana EX when it got cheap enough.  I look forward to getting that on my PSTV.

Only own Twisted Metal which is fun, but can be very difficult.  No Armello, but I expected that when I saw the results when I voted.  Don't know much about any of them honestly.

Here's the PS Plus games for September

Grow Home - PS4
Super Time Force Ultra - PS4
Twisted Metal - PS3
Xeodrifter - PS4/Vita
Teslagrad - PS4/PS3
La Mulana EX - Vita

Sigh, I knew I shouldn't have bought Teslagrad from that one sale. I had just bought Twisted Metal from HPB for $3 but then traded it in since I needed an online pass. Now I can play it. I have STF on :xb1: but this is STFU so that's cool I guess. I'm one of the few people from this thread that wanted Grow Home, so I'm glad that won. Don't care about the other 2.

Overall meh month for me.

Same here, though I bought Teslagrad and La Mulana EX as well. I have TM on disc, so I think I only have a couple "gifts" from the Sep PS+ games.

Both LA Mulana and Teslagrad have been on sale recently (separately), and I came dangerously close to buying both of them, so this is a pretty good month for me. Honestly, what little I've seen of Grow Home makes it look like I'd enjoy that too, but I know a lot of people here wanted something else to win (I didn't vote).

PS Plus is a big reason I don't buy any indies.  I'm not an indie fan anyway, but anytime a new indie game comes out that I'm interested in, I talk myself out of it because I assume it will show up on PS Plus (or possibly GWG) eventually.  Months like this just support my thought process.  I do really appreciate a release date PS Plus title.  I think those are pretty much the best possible value you can get out of your subscription (at least in realistic terms).

I hate when Sony puts a game on sale less than a month before it's free, I'm really starting to get bitter about it to the point where I'm going to quit buying games.  If it's an issue where Sony hasn't negotiated the deal yet then they should offer a money back guarantee if it goes free within 30 days.  And if they do know it's going to be free well then that's dirty..

Also I don't get why everyone wanted Grow Home, it's a Ubisoft game so it would be heavily discounted or free in the near future anyway..  add that to the fact the game looks frustrating and boring...

waiting for a  75% off  art hollow online  that should hit sometime in sept or oct so they can hope to pump up sales for the new one coming in  nov.  Would buy it at full price   but  dont have  3.3 GB  of  vita card (what i think is even more like 6 GB needed for it)

I know a lot of people here wanted something else to win (I didn't vote).
I didn't vote either... I just didn't care enough about any of the four options to bother with it. I figure whatever won would be something I wouldn't have considered buying at launch anyway.

So I haven't played a MGS game since MGS 2. Would I be completely lost if I played Phantom Pain or is it a new story with Easter eggs for players that have played the whole series?

I just got my Vita legal thing that was mentioned here a while back - so keep your eye out and check your spam folders if you should have gotten one. I redeemed the $25 code no problem. Kinda funny that it arrived AFTER the Flash sale ... good thing there was nothing in it I really wanted. Now they just need a good sale on Axiom Verge or Galax-Z (yeah, I know, too new...)!

If you finished MGS2, then you should be already perfectly well hopelessly lost like everyone else :) . It doesn't sound like they went so heavy handed on the story this time, so at worst you might need a little Ground Zeroes (which was free on PS+ a month ago) time as that plays into MGS5 as I understand. The game sounds really good, the only bad things I've heard is that micro-transaction stuff (I'll probably not mess with multiplayer anyways) and a dearth of boss fights (which were always my favorite parts).

You're going to be completely lost, story-wise. The Snake you play as in Phantom Pain is the same one you play as in MGS3, Peace Walker, and Ground Zeroes, but not the same one as MGS2 or MGS (assuming you played that one). Phantom Pain's story continues from those three games (mainly Peace Walker and obviously Ground Zeroes). I'm sure there will be many Easter Eggs, though, but I'm not sure just how much "catching-up" or exposition the game will have for players new to the MGS games.

Of course, here's the obligatory comment about how even people who have beaten every Metal Gear game 7 times don't understand the story since it's so convoluted.

There is zero correlation. Sony really doesn't give a flying fuck when you spend it or what you spend it on. There is absolutely zero reason for them to intentionally wait out a flash sale to give you your $25.

I kind of want to grab Army of Two for $4. I won't be able to play it for a while since I didn't bring my PS3 to college, but it looks fun.

Yes. It's a new story. Will you be lost? Eh, not really. The last game had a giant robot that was going to fire the last nuke ever fired and destroy everyone you know and love but instead it sung a song of peace and then a little girl was launched into the ocean and a guy fired a rocket fist at you with both fingers outstretched shouting ROCKET PEACE. It's a roller coaster. It's not like there's a fricken quiz between chapters nor are you gonna have to remember who the spy traitor in MGS whatever was working for. Hint: The answer is always whatever panglobal ultrasmart organization that controls everything Kojima has in mind THIS week.

The central motivations of half the characters from MGS4 and PW came from MGS3... and yet... nothing, almost NOTHING was built up in a particularly clever manner from MGS3. Yeah, it used the pieces but... well, I won't get into the argument here.

So... you'll be missing a bit, but at the same time, there is almost nothing you will miss that would take more than a sentence to catch you up on. The in jokes, the references, you'll miss those. And without having played Peace Walker, you will not understand the sheer ridiculous grind it was and will most likely continue to be in TPP because the exact same soldier capturing base managing mechanics are there according to reviews.

Long story short, you're clear if you just ask someone to summarize MGS3 and PW in a few sentences.

Some indies are fantastic. Unfortunately there's an abundance of them that are trash which gives the truly good ones a bad name.

The majority of indie anything (movies, music, games) is usually awful...but when indie stuff is good it's really good. I'm always open to try out indie stuff. Especially for free.

If Konami's gonna have a PSN sale for that Phantom Pain hype this would be the week to do it. I just want Peace Walker HD, GZ and ZOE HD Collection, is that too much to ask?

konami pls.

I was ready to vote for Armello until I learned it doesn't have local multiplayer, which to me is crap for a board game. I might buy it at a discount later if reviews are good, but that mostly killed my interest.

Last week, I waited until the last minute, and then I waited a minute more, trying to convince myself I need Goat Simulated. Turns out it's the same price this week, and I STILL havn't made up my mind.

When I go to hit purchase, Jiminy Cricket springs up and tells me it'll be no fun after the first five minutes and it's a waste. Should I squish this bug and do what my gut tells me; or listen to reason (in his stupid little top-hat)?

I think the game looks stupid but it seems like one of those things that if you look at it and still have interest you'd probably get some enjoyment out of it.

Haha...it's actually a lot of fun (if you're into silly open world sandbox stuff with collectibles where most of the "objectives" are finding the secrets/easter eggs to unlock trophies and different goat powers/mutations). I think the $8.99 PS+ price might be one of those permanent PS+ prices like the discount on Q*bert, but I'm not 100% sure, so don't quote me on that.

(Note: There does seem to be an annoying bug in the ps3 version where the sound totally cuts out...even system sounds like the trophy popping sound...and then, when you try to end the game, it hangs and the system does the 3 beep restart. It's happened to me at least half a dozen times...probably more. Haven't heard about it happening with the ps4 version, though.)

Damnit. Only one of the 3 up for vote that i DIDN'T want. I really wanted Armello to win. Or maybe the zombie game, but Grow Home looked absurdly dull. Plus as several people mentioned its an Ubisoft game so it will be super discounted soon enough. WHat a waste.

I was ready to vote for Armello until I learned it doesn't have local multiplayer, which to me is crap for a board game. I might buy it at a discount later if reviews are good, but that mostly killed my interest.
wait what? ... are you kidding me? How the hell does it not have local mutiplayer? Thats insane. Well my desire for it also just went in the crapper then

If you've got an iphone/ipad IGN's mobile site is/was giving away Goat Simulator for FREE. If not then I think the idea is sort of a mix between gta style sandbox shenanigans mixed with old school tony hawk gameplay and scoring.... except playing as a goat.

I think you just sold me. My biggest worry is that it'll be cheaper later (it's only a $1 savings right now). But I've missed out on enough games already using this logic.

I'll be getting the PS4 version so hopefully there are no audio bugs there.
