:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

I wanted Chrono Phantasm but with Extend coming out with all the DLC and even more characters.. I don't think it is much of a deal.

Had no idea Citizens of Earth was coming out this Tuesday. That's supposedly heavily inspired by Earthbound and I remember when it was on Kickstarter, nice to see they kept their promise and finished the game. However, I looked at the trophy list for (just to get a idea of how how small/big the game may be) and it's pretty small so that makes me worried it's a very short game while Earthbound felt huge.

I really hope that I'm wrong.

EDIT: Pre-ordered Resident Evil since I never played the GC Remake and never beat it when I was a kiddo so I'm looking forward to that. Would of been nice if we got the pre-order theme Japan got.  :wall:

The Kickstarter failed, so they were under no obligation to finish it until Atlus stepped in to publish it.

I got an early copy for review and will have a video up tomorrow morning of it in action, but it's not a short game from what I've seen so far unless something changes or you turn the difficulty way down.

Had no idea it failed to meet the goals. TIL.

There are many games with few Trophy's but are actually huge.

Also if you buy Citizen's this week you get 20% off!

I can't decide for myself so can some one recommend or choose the games to buy on the anniversary sale?, i.e., I am a pushover.
Well as affa pointed out for another person, it would help to know what platforms (ps3, ps4, vita) and styles you like. If you don't like a certain style of game, there's no point in buying even if its on a great sale.

Personally, I bought: Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Daxter, and Ratchet and Clank Collection all for Vita. I'm considering NFS Rivals PS4 just to have it digitally, since I really like arcade style racing games.

When is the last time the PS Store had a PS+ deal?  Like spend so much, get something?  My Plus is up in February and I was hoping to cash in on some deal before resorting to GameStop credit.

I wasn't sure what to get for the Vita. So I picked up FF VII, FF VIII, FF IX, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, GTA CW, HM: Back to Nature, Ratchet and Clank Collection. Hopefully some good picks.

Edit: Harvest Moon wasn't on sale but 5 bucks ain't bad. I wasn't aware of any on the Vita.

Oops. I own the ps3 and vita. I like most genres except sports games.

Just finished chapter 1 of Danganronpa: Happy Trigger Havoc and I have to say any praise on this site doesn't give it enough credit.

I say it's a mixture of Telltale Games, Ace Attorney and the Saw movies. I have to ask: does this summary of my first impression hold up as the game goes on?

I often give the description "Phoenix Wright meets Persona 4 in the world of Zero Escape". But yeah, the rest of the chapters are more of the same as the first (though not quite so blatantly obvious). So if you've like what you've played so far, you're in for a treat.

Ok... hmm.

You might love Dragon's Crown. It's an arcade brawler with a heavy dose of Rpg style lewt/upgrades. I don't like it, but many love it. Since you love arcade/fighting and a touch of RPG, it sounds perfect for you.

You'd probably like Dissidia Final Fantasy for the same reason (it's a fighting game with rpg elements), though I believe it's generally recommended to buy Dissidia 012 Duodecim instead, which isn't on sale.

Chrono Trigger is a light hearted romp and one of the best rpgs ever. PS1 version has load time issues, slightly alleviated by putting vita into 'fast load' mode. Some act like these load times make this unplayable... they're wrong. If you only have a vita or prefer using your vita, and want to play it, it's definitely worth it.

Blazblue are fighting games, right? I don't like the genre. But you do. Look into them.

Lumines is a fantastic game. It's in the general vein of tetris, though has very different mechanics.

You might love Persona 4 Golden. I don't, but I'm in the minority. Dungeons and high school drama and a murder mystery.

Ys -- you might love this game too? I believe it's an action oriented RPG, I haven't played it, but just bought it based on all the love the series gets.
Did you see affa's post (above)? It's a great start, and I agree with everything he said.

I do like fighting games, and bought Blazblue CP for Vita, looks and plays great.

I'm personally more into action rpgs than jrpgs, but if you like jrpgs there are some great ones on sale for Vita.

imho, here is the 'best of' the sale. I am including games in genres i don't even like that I know others love. I am deleting a LOT of great games (including ones I love) simply to get down the list to something reasonable to research.

All in all, the entire sale is above average game quality wise. There are plenty of games I'm omitting that are solid deals.

Buy anything you want by end of tomorrow (Monday)... sale could come down anytime Tuesday morn.

Yeah, Citizens of Earth was already a day 1 purchase for me, but a 20% off deal makes it that much sweeter, and I'm getting it on 3ds, or maybe vita for portability.  I don't really give two shits about trophies, because I'm going to play the shit out of this game.

It gets even crazier, and don't worry, the mystery won't be as stupidly obvious as it was in the first case.

The upside down LEON was god damn insulting

ProTip for Citizens of Earth people: Save early. Save often. Been having some crashing issues with my PS4 copy, which I'm hoping are just pre-launch update issues and will talk to PR about in the morning to see what's up with this because it's frustrating. The autosave can be pretty bad, so don't rely on that to save you in those extreme instances.

Yeah I was really bummed about that because I knew the instant you find the clue but intro into trials was really fun and the punishment video was really disturbing to me.

Danganronpa is awful

Edit: It's funny every time I say this I look back at what I gave it and see a 6/10. So no it's not awful, but it's no where near good, especially the abhorrent, one more characters and dull writing. I liked the gameplay enough.

How often do they add free games that aren't PS Plus for a limited time?

A month or so ago they gave away Mirrors Edge and two other games, is that a rare occurrence?

Your views on Danganronpa, your avatar, and member title are all so very confusing.

It's just a visual novel mixed with Ace attorney and mini games right?

Review score manages to alter entire thinking over game's worth... Have you ever considered a career in video game journalism?

It's fairly rare, that offer in particular was an anniversary "gift" from EA during the PS Experience. Last ones I can recall were the Vita 1st anniversary PS1/PSP titles, and the occasional Home PS1 classic giveaways.

And hey, does anyone remember that dumb kung-fu game Sprint gave away in the early days?

Thats worrisome. Earthbound is my fav game ever, and was excited for this love letter to come out.

Still gonna buy it, but hope its fixed by Tuesday.

Rag Doll Kung Fu?

Yep, VN with less fun but more guided Zero Escape rooms, and pseudo Ace Attorney cases

I lol'd, gg.

Point was really to quickly summarize I don't dislike the game, it was just extremely disappointing based on the merits (or lack thereof) people were hyping it on. Comparing it to Zero Escape was worse

Guess we aren't getting the 10% coupons before this 20th anniversary sale ends :(  Gonna grab ratchet and clank and chrono cross/trigger I guess before the day is over.

Not sure about Uncharted 3 - was gonna play UC1-3 this summer if ND doesn't release a PS4 remaster of the trilogy, but I have high hopes they will since TLOU:R did pretty well (1m+ copies sold) and I'm sure there are lots of others like me who haven't played the series before UC4.

I am also considering Ratchet and Clank for Vita since it's only available digitally and the Far Cry 3 Ultimate Edition for PS3. I hate playing FPS games on the Dualshock since the 360 has better trigger buttons, but FC3 is one of my favorite games of all time. And I might scoop up a few cheap PS1 games.

I love Uncharted 2 and 3. Played them to death, but would definitely do it again if Naughty Dog decides to release them on the PS4. But Naught Dog did say recently during an interview that it wasn't going to happen. We'll see after Uncharted 4 comes out and does well.

On a separate note about Uncharted 1. That game made me so dizzy throughout the entire game. I gave up on the end river sequence and didn't go back to finish the game until 2 years later, because it made me so dizzy I got sick for a week. UC 2 and 3 didn't affect me at all.

Isn't Ace Attorney just a VN with Ace Attorney mini games?

I picked it up and just finished the first chapter. If you don't like VNs, this might help. It is better paced than most VNs I have played and the story is pretty interesting. It plays off a lot of character tropes, so whether you take that as satire or laziness will probably have a good impact on your views on the game.

I think its tough to recommend at $23 if you're not already looking for an AA-style game. It wouldve been easier to unviersally recommend at $15. Unfortunately, it probably won't get that low.

I dislike Danganronpa too.    High school drama with hyper-stylized characters (cool kid, sports kid, modelista, fat nerd, librarian girl, etc) mixed in with surreal murder mysteries and [not-that-great] mini-games.

The best thing about it is that the game is about murder mysteries, so you get to watch all the annoying characters die off.

That said, I do recognize people -love- this game for the story, so if you like VNs in general I'd say it's well worth picking up.  I just hate VNs and mini-game based games.   I do like mysteries, I just didn't find the ones within compelling.  For reference, I found the plot/drama in VLR and P4G annoying too, so feel free to ignore my criticisms if you swear by those games.

Anyone know of any ps plus deals? I am getting desperate for one right now. I can't see myself paying $50 when it has been $30. I will pay $40 though.

Is this 20 year anniversary a replacement for 15 for 15'?

anyone think

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky

or

Ys: The Oath In Felghana

worth the cash  while they are on sale

thinking just  Heroes . Ys  looks  sort of blurry and wonder how bad it looks on vita

They're both available on PC too and likely to go down to $5-$6 during a winter or summer sale.

I've played Ys on a 23" monitor. I don't think the blurriness will bother you. It moves pretty fast anyway.

Here's my Citizens of Earth video, for those interested:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZHHvJR7Y3A

Just sent a query about the crash issues, so I'll update you guys on that when I can. It's been good otherwise, so I'd be disappointed if this isn't addressed in a launch update.

I dislike Danganronpa too.
I know I rib you constantly about it but I seriously don't know why you would have ever even thought you might possibly like this game for a single second.

Ys rarely goes on sale (like less than FF at this point) and I'm picking up Felghana after enjoying Celceta. Trails though I don't think has ever been on sale (I'm sure Frisky will correct me if I'm wrong) and it's extremely highly regarded.
