:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

Has anyone used the Plex app on PS4? How good it is? I don't like I have to have plex pass to use it on PS4 when I can use it free on PS3 but if its good enough I might just pay for it.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/01/21/the-elder-scrolls-online-tamriel-unlimited-launches-june-9th/

Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is out on PS4 on 6/9 with no subscription fees required and some new features for this release. I don't know if the FTP stuff for the PC version have been announced yet, but that's basically the idea for what they're offering here in terms of offering DLC and cosmetic items for an option sub or a la carte purchasing in lieu of a mandatory sub that would provide some of that stuff.
Only about a year late... I might buy in since it's FTP.
It's free to play, but you do have to buy it first. Presumably, it will be the standard $60, but if you bought the PC version by the end of last June, you get the console version for $20.

OT: Best Buy apparently dropped TIV's on all physical Vita games to $1, which is another sign that they can't get units or carts moving at retail. I adore my Vita. Sad to see this long, painful death spiral playing out. Just when you think retail support couldn't get much worse ...

Guess I'm glad I don't plan on trading any of my vita games, or at least the ones I would trade would be ones I paid $10 for.

Has anyone thought of worthwhile buys with this weekend's 10% off? I'm on the fence but considering resident evil hd or the far cry 4 season pass.

I don't get it. You knew they were getting attacked and they said they were aware and fixing it. What more did you expect? Telling you every hour the exact same thing?

Mircosoft didn't really do anything different lol
Daddy: Little Timmy, I know you can't use your PS4 right now, but see this form letter email response? Sony LOVES you. Merry Christmas. Now go play with blocks.

Little Timmy: Daddy, Sony lubs me!

Because, somehow, it's not Lizard Squad that ruined Christmas. No. It's not the DDOS attack. It's... Sony's customer service... because they didn't update us that PSN was down enough. I don't know how that makes any fucking sense at all, but whatever, I need to remember that on the internet, Christmas happiness hinges on customer service form letters.

Did Microsoft even give anything as compensation for the downtime? PSN users are getting a coupon and a 3-day extension for PS+. That's pretty fair for something that's not even their fault. Why don't you just get rid of your PS4 since you're clearly unhappy about it? In the short-term, that might actually be pretty smart since Microsoft will hopefully be aggressive with sales to close the sales gap.
They did fast recover and treated there users well with responses but ms is still the devil and sony is one also but it fell down the stairs and got dumb lol

That sucks but lucky for me I send them all to Amazon. Usually have decent enough tivs for Vita games.

I love my sexy White Lime Green slim Vita. If they stop making games for it as in retail games, I wouldn't be too mad since I have so many games that I've yet to play. I'll always find something new to try.

Also going from phat to slim was the best thing I ever did. Just throwing that out there.

Are there ever really good prices on a bundle or just the system itself? IDC if its used, refurb, sale/clearance, random shit, but I always wanted to try out a PSP or Vita or whatnot...for a fair price :)

Vitas are around $120-$130ish on the Amazon Warehouse for stuff with cosmetic imperfections. That usually means there's a scratch on the box and the system itself is in good to like new shape.

PSPs are roughly the same price on there strangely enough. If you really want a PSP just check Craigslist. I'm still looking for a PSP Go to replace my stolen one.

I'm thinking about getting that along with The Third Birthday and Final Fantasy III when we get the 10% of codes.
Ugh, every time I hear someone interested in FF III... I try to contain myself. The story was decent, but the game overall -- from fights, to levelling was hugely tedious and probably the most grind-centric. I think I finished the game and did not max out any job level on any of my characters.

It's the only FF game in the series that I felt this way about (have not played FF II though). I honestly think you are much better off spending the time on another turn based RPG, but if you're a completionist and want the game in your library, go ahead because there are far worse RPG's out there... but FF III is definitely mediocre at best.

Lots of great stuff for sale, looking forward to the 10% splurge this weekend. In the mean time, I've got plenty to think about...

- Mafia II will be mine.

- Sleeping Dogs is a probable pick up but if I do end up getting a PS4 in the not too distant future then I might want to wait to get the definitive version.

- XCOM: Enemy Within is tempting. I started Enemy Unknown when it was added to the IGC and loved it but I had other games I was finishing up at the time. Does Enemy Within bring new modes/features to the table that really enhance the experience or should I just stick with Unknown?

- The 3rd Birthday, a game I did not know I wanted until the video review was posted on this thread. Thanks Eldritch... $10 is still a little steep, especially for a game I know so little about. I'm still undecided but the gameplay looks very unique.

- Final Fantasy V & VI, and Yggdra Union all come with great praise. I have so many rpgs in my backlog that I can't allow myself to get more than one of these right now. I'm leaning toward FFVI because it's the game I've been guilted into playing the most by my friends over the years.

- Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Gex games, and Pandemonium. I've got to resist the urge to keep buying these PS1 games I'll never play. Will power being tested yet again.

-OR- I could go after DLC that I've had my eye on. Minerva's Den (Bioshock 2), Missing Link (Deus Ex: HR), and maybe some add-ons for Sleeping Dogs. What add-ons are considered to be the best for Sleeping Dogs? I'm really only interested in DLC that add extra gameplay or depth to the story line.

I'm a bit conflicted over all of these choices. Looking for guidance from fellow CAGs.

I think Enemy Within is an expansion pack on the PSN and will not come with the Unknown game. So you're better off getting the Enemy Within Commander Edition from Gamestop at $18 for the complete experience.

Final Fantasy II was masochistic grind, considering you had to keep getting your butt kicked in order to get stronger. I managed to beat the game in the GBA version and plowed through the final castle. Can't say the same for the bonus part of the game.

I had the same question earlier, but someone had answered that this version of Enemy Within also has Enemy unknown as well as its DLC along with the expansion: If you look at the description on the SEN website, it doesnt specifically say it includes Enemy Unknown. The size of the file is pretty damn big for just an expansion (7.6 GB). Thanks for pointing out Gamestop's $20 price on the retail copy... I was going to shell out for the digital copy, but at $20, I'm going to pick it up in disc format instead.

Enemy Within is basically EU with an expansion pack built in. So it's the same basic campaign but with all the new stuff baked in. I just bought it last week on XBL and the new stuff is supposed to be well worth it.

Mwahahaha, fell into my trap!

I'm the same with those PS1 games I want to buy just to buy even though I know I'll never play.

You guys are such complete and utter idiots. No, I don't blame Sony for the attack. But it was night and day how MS handled th e issue vs Sony. I don't need an update every hour on what is going on. But for a robot generic response compared to personalized responses plus a much faster recover did make a huge difference. It made me feel like Microsoft actually cares. Sony made me feel like they didn't give a crap. And to me that response was much more important than any crappy compensation Sony gave us. And with the pick one issue but they didn't give any response at all. It would have been nice on the support Forum for Sony to pop in and just say something. But no, we had hundreds of people wondering what was going on.

Try to call? Wait forever. Call Microsoft? They actually call you back instead of making you wait forever. And they gave me more compensation for a stupid video rental issue than I ever would have expected.

I am not a MS fanboy. Th e PS4 is a better console.

But you have to have your head in the sand if you think Sony is good a handling it's consumer base. They suck.

But whatever, call me an idiot. I don't care. It won't change my opinion.

Your entitled to have whatever opinion you want. And anyone has the right to disagree with you.

No one called you an idiot.

You obviously feel strongly about this issue... so I have to ask, what is it your trying to achieve by going on and on about this here? Do you think Sony is reading this thread right now? Do you think your going to change Sony's behavior by ranting about it on this thread?

Nothing it just started with the whole wasteful 10% discount that is now pretty useless without the preorders.

I will drop this now as long as people don't keep posting things that make it seem as though my opinion is idiotic.

So while they may not have called me an idiot. What they said was far more demeaning than being called an idiot.

I understand your complaint about Sony, but i'm not sure you can fairly make any statement on how well they handled the DDOS attack - especially in relation to Microsoft. Just because Microsoft became stable before Sony does not mean that Sony didn't do as much as they could or had inferior servers, etc. Perhaps the DDOS attack was not focused evenly on the two systems or perhaps Sony, by having the more popular current console with more users trying to access their services, was just bound to have more issues to sort out. It's likely that Microsoft is technologically superior in their server capabilities, but it's not fair to Sony to make the assumption that they handled it poorly and Microsoft handled it better without having some additional facts or details.

Microsoft is a software company with as many servers as they need at their disposal. Of COURSE they could handle a DDoS better than Sony could.

I've owned a white oled vita for two years and I was initially excited about the slim for weight and micro usb.

1. White never got released here
2. Lcd vs oled.

Are there any complications to importing a vita?

Fair enough. But as far as responses on Twitter, their support forums and even on support calls, Sony has a lot to learn still in terms of how they treat customers from personal experience.

But can we just please drop this subject and move on?

Lets just hope that Sony recent announcements that they were going to "improve" the Playstation Online services means that they will actually be investing in more servers, and not just hiring that company to just go through and clean up Sony's servers from the DDoS attacks.

Tried out the Crystal Defenders demo last night and enjoyed it enough to consider purchasing the game @ $5.00. This is the first tower defense game I've liked since Plants vs. Zombies.

Haul so far: Crystal Defenders, Gex, American Mensa Academy, and Legend of Mana.

Decided to pass on Third Birthday since a) I have the disc, and b) I haven't finished Parasite Eve 2.

Also wondering if I should add the DLC for Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark since DLC rarely goes on sale.

Even though The Show is a little over 2 months away, I'm thinking $2 off Super Mega Baseball might be nice.  I'm dying to play it but my luck they'll put it on sale when The Show comes out.  But there's no way I'll play it at that time so I have to decide if it's worth if for 2 months of quality time.

Pretty sure I'm the only one in this thread with any interest in that since I don't get a very "sports gamer" vibe in here... lol  (And that's not a bad thing, I have Operation Sports for that)

I was thinking about getting that as well.

Trials Fusion's online MP update should be live today:

Today, Ubisoft® announced that Online Multiplayer is now available as a free update in Trials Fusion™. Players can now face off against four to eight opponents in three multiplayer modes. Additionally, the fourth and largest downloadable content pack to date, Fire in Deep, will be available next week on January 27, 2015.

In Online Multiplayer up to eight players can face-off on next-gen consoles and Windows® PC and on Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft up to four players can go head to head. This update comes with three game selections that can be found in the new multiplayer lobby:

• Online X-Supercross mode: up to eight players compete on three random tracks, with one winner selected based on the highest score.
• Private Game mode: up to eight players pick which track they want to race on and can customize the race’s parameters with options including track gravity, bike’s speed and bike control.
• Private Game with Spectator: Players looking to watch online multiplayer can select the track and parameters for the race and invite eight other players to ride so they can watch the race. These matches can also be broadcasted using streaming platforms.

Online Multiplayer will also include a global leaderboard for Online X-Supercross times and record holders.

You guys are such complete and utter idiots.
Nobody called you an idiot?

But if you come on and say, and I quote:

"I'm just upset about the whole thing because it ruined my kids' Christmas. And, no, it wasn't Sony's fault"

And then rant on and on about how Sony was responsible for ruining said Christmas, even though as you said, it wasn't their fault... it's hard to take your long rants seriously.

Meanwhile, you arbitrarily negate the things Sony has done (this 10% off thing, for example) because you're choosing not to use it, and instead rail on them for things they didn't do to your standards (ie, keep us updated enough) despite the fact anyone paying attention knew exactly what was going on, why, and that you can not have an estimated 'fix time' for a DDOS attack.

I'll take 10% off a few things over an extra 'update' email any day of the week. You prefer your updates. That's great.

If you simply said 'I wasn't particularly happy with Sony's customer service, but this 10% is a nice gesture even though I'm not planning on using it' nobody would have took issue. Rants about ruined Christmases, etc, full of hyperbole make your post an easy target.

Like I said I'm done arguing. You won't understand my point of view and I won't understand yours. My opinion is that Sony's support paled in comparison to what I have received from Microsoft for even smaller issues. And it's not just about email "updates". It's their whole customer service system. I should have said the attacks were not Sony's fault. But their support and PR afterwards was.

Your opinion is that Sony did great.

We won't agree.

Moving on...

Enemy Within is basically EU with an expansion pack built in. So it's the same basic campaign but with all the new stuff baked in. I just bought it last week on XBL and the new stuff is supposed to be well worth it.
It's not so much that it has it, it's that it's an expanded and modified version. So all the stuff is technically in there but you can't just say OK, now I want to play without the EW stuff.
Thanks. I'm going to pick this one up over the weekend.

I guess no one has tried Brandish yet? Been thinking about picking it up, but $20 seems a bit high for an older PSP game.
It's pretty fun so far. The controls take some getting used to, as you turn with the left and right on the d-pad and up moves you forward. It's also pretty forgiving since you can save almost anywhere and just reload.

I'm using this as an opportunity to get some older titles that aren't often on sale, like Alundra, Klonoa, and GrimGrimoire.

Can anyone here speak for GrimGrimoire?  I'm not generally an RTS fan, but I am a bit of a VanillaWare fan (Odin Sphere was FANTASTIC), and this one seemed strange enough to be interesting.

Couldn't you map the d-pad controls (turning right/left and moving forward) to the right or left analog sticks, and use one of those instead? Wouldn't that make it play a little better?
