:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

Wow really nice sale!

Anyone know if the digital version of R&C collection is cross buy? If I buy the vita version will I get the PS3 version too or do I have to choose between the two?

Definitely getting P4G and a few others after work today.
Only the God of War Collection is Cross Buy. The other collections require you to figure out which version you'd prefer to play it on.

even though i got rid of my PS3 for a PS4 i'll jump on the dragon age origins for $5. i hope i can play it for free with the PSNow, meaning i'll NEVER pay for an overpriced crap cloud service as long as i can continue playing the games i purchased for the past few years. Sony said years ago, whatever we purchase we keep forever, so if they strip that "forever" in lieu of the PSNow then SO LONG older games, and SO LONG purchasing overpriced digital games.

Damnit, I just bought the R&C collection, always happens.

Anyways, it is quite buggy with framerate drops when there's a lot of action happening, and the sound/music does get cut off/distorted quite often. Strafing is all done with the back touchpad which was frustrating to control.

It's better than the Jak and Daxter port, but it's frustrating.

You better abort that plan right now because PS Now is only a rental/subscription service. They're not going to offer purchasing options nor let you play games you purchased for an actual PS3.

I want Persona for my new Vita but I do not have PS+ at the moment.  The thought of paying an extra $3 is bothering me for some reason.  Anyone know where I can get a 7 day trial or something similar?

Wow, this sale is actually pretty good. I'll probably pick up Danganronpa for $20, since that's the cheapest I've seen it.

I wish Persona 3 Portable would go back down to $5 like it did once; I'd pick it up at that price.

Disgaea 4 is tempting and I am also tempted to pick up Final Fantasy IV, VII, and IX for that price. They will of course sit on my Vita and wait to be played as I have so many games in my backlog that it's absurd.

Has anyone tried the PSP GTAs on Vita? Does it control closer to the console versions because of the second analog?
It's the same as the PSP versions, though you might be able to tweak it a little bit to remap whatever the camera controls are to the right stick if they're not too complicated.

On the PSP it was L+AnalogStick to move the camera around. I don't own a Vita (just a PSP-GO) so I don't now about remapping controls and if it's possible.

.........

The sale seems decent enough but I'm pretty sure I already own much of what I'd want from the sale. I could see myself buying FF VII, VIII & IX for the sake of buying them... but I know I'm not likely to ever put the time into actually playing them.

Definitely nabbing Tactics Ogre for my PSTV at that price. Tempted about P4G, but I'd rather buy a physical copy and save memory card space.

Would anyone recommend Ys: The Oath in Felghana  at $7.50? I've never played any of the Ys games. How's this one?

Best game in the whole sale, and I've never even beaten it.

I guess having Lumines for 10 bucks isn't bad but the PS4 and Vita side are pretty well trod material sales wise. Anyone have opinions on Need for Speed Rivals for 12 bucks, Ys Oath of Felghana, or Danganronpa for 20 considering it may be a while before it goes to plus?
NFS Rivals is great. I bought day 1, sold, rebought on sale, now am selling it to buy digital.

Ys -- i'm buying it based on other people's recs.

Danganronpa -- it's a dark visual novel murder mystery with courtroom minigames. I disliked it, but if you like visual novels it's extremely highly recommended by others.

Lumines should be a insta-buy for anyone.

Trails in the Sky and Tactics Ogre are also worth your money.

Ah, well it's there now regardless.
Oh yeah. He was just jumping to conclusions again. The game was never delisted due to 'poor sales', etc. I don't even know what he's talking about, I don't think any game has ever been delisted due to poor sales. It's a digital storefront, that doesn't even make sense.

$12 P4G is the highlight of the sale. Even if you'll never play it, you should buy it at that price to support Altus, the franchise, and Vita development in general.

Can I use the free trial of PS plus to get the extra discounts? I only have a PSP so I have no interest in actually paying for the membership but I really would like the better prices on P3P, Tactics Ogre, and Chrono Cross.

Finally a real sale but even with all these games being discounted it's just Resistance: Retribution for me. I've reached the point where I feel accomplished for already owning a lot of these games. And then I realize some of them have yet to be played and the feeling goes away.

Yep.

Also how is Persona 3 Portable compared to P3 FES (PS2)? I played the PS2 version for 5 hours before my data corrupted on me.
It's a great fit for a PSP or Vita with the way the dungeon is laid out. The major things it lacks are the Answer and a 3D overworld to explore, but it has a female MC option to change things up and full control of your party's actions in battle.

That game needs a Persona 3 Golden that combines all of the content that is spread out in the two big versions and adds in all of the improvements that Persona 4 Golden added to the overall game.

Support Atlus? But they don't support us. When they released Persona 3: FES not too long after the original game's release and fans were pissed, they said they would never release another version of Persona 4 but they did. And they also have the only region-locked PS3 game in Persona 4: Arena.

Regardless of the company's politics, there's a great anime adaptation of the game that you can watch for free on Crunchyroll.

I do not know if this holds true anymore, but the Android/iOS versions had a promo going where if you get past a certain level you get a code for a free download of the original Fat Princess for the PS3.
Seems like you need to finish level 15 and have a facebook account to get the ps3 game

"Bonus PS3™ Game!
Escort your beloved princess to Level 15 and earn access to a download of Fat Princess for your PS3™ system at no additional cost. You must complete Level 15 in Fat Princess: Piece of Cake and have an active Facebook account to receive the voucher code. A valid Sony Entertainment Network account is required to redeem the voucher code and download the game to your PS3™ system."

Apparently, i've heard rumblings that that may happen. P3 was really popular in JP and somewhere I heard a rumor of a P3G that may happen down the line with FES and P3P stuff included.

It's funny that some games are listed 2-3 times across different platforms. As DJ_Tomato said in the comments

REAL PS VITA SALE
BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma $16.00 $20.00 $39.99
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc $19.99 $23.99 $39.99
Dragon’s Crown $16.00 $20.00 $39.99
LittleBigPlanet PS Vita $7.20 $9.00 $17.99
Lumines Electronic Symphony $10.80 $13.50 $26.99
Mortal Kombat $8.00 $10.00 $19.99

Cutting out the duplicates, is it still 60 games on the list?

Citizens of Earth of out next week for those that might not know yet and Atlus has revealed the launch week deals for it on PSN:

PS4 and PS Vita (North America) -- Launches Tuesday, Jan. 20
20% discount ($11.99) for PS Plus subscribers at launch for two weeks (through 2/3)

I counted 100 total new games on sale as of today. You can just pay attention to the OP, as there are no duplicates there.

If this is true, I will buy it again. I already have FES and P3P from previous sales.

Any news on that 10% discount code they are supposed to send out? I have $10.77 in my PSN wallet and want to buy Tony Hawk HD and Street Fighter Alpha 3 for psp and it's 10.99. I don't want to add 10 bucks just for .22 cents.

Yeah, of course I was just jumping to conclusions even though all the titles I mentioned were delisted (though Valkyria came back). Do you think any company will say, "Yeah, we removed the titles from the marketplace because they just weren't selling"? They never give official reasons for it. There was a game on sale a few weeks ago - I don't remember the title - that was abruptly pulled from PSN.

Over on XBLA, Silent Hill Downpour and HD Collection were just delisted. I am "just jumping to conclusions" but both games were heavily panned and HD Collection was actually based on beta builds of the included games because Konami lost the master builds, so the low sales weren't worth keeping them listed. As the most recent entries of the series, the poor reception for those games can damage the brand. So apparently Konami thought it prudent to pull them from sale especially with the waning days of Xbox 360. Companies will delist properties when they want to focus on other, more lucrative properties. You apparently forget that some years back, Sega thought it was a good idea not to renew the dreamcast.com domain. In the debacle that ensued, they haven't opted to make the same mistake again.

Man... Awesome sale! I am pretty disappointed in myself because I just bought FFXIV and Danganronpa not long ago for more than these prices... Oh well. I like having physical copies anyway.

I will be getting Ratchet and Clank Collection for VIta for sure... Maybe the Final Fantasy games that are on sale..

Is Monster Hunter Freedom Unite any good on Vita?

For anybody that wants Final Fantasy XIV, grab it on PS3 first if you have that available and follow the guide here to transfer the license to PS4 for free to get it much cheaper than just the PS4 version.

You know, I popped on to the Playstation Blog real quick to make sure the newest store update was out and after a quick skim over, I was disappointed to see it didn't bother mentioning that after 2 years, Rock Band has new DLC!!! today. Sure, most people tossed their instruments and aren't playing anymore but for those who do still play on occasion (or live under a rock and missed the announcement yest) it would probably made sense to add that to their new this week list.

It's probably the second best way to play it, behind PS TV, since you can remap the camera controls to the right analog stick for ease of access.

It's pretty easy to find p4g for sub 20, BUT it's a good deal either way.

Gonna have to bite on the R&C collection since it doesn't have a physical release.
Care to share what sale or sales you're talking about?

I'm honestly not trying to be a dick- I've been after P4G for as long as I've had a Vita (over 2 years) and I don't remember ever seeing it for under $20 new, either digital or physical, and I check CAG almost every day! :)

I can't speak for the past since I just got a PS TV, but GameStop had P4G for $20 - $5 Kongregate coupon.  Got a used copy last month for under $13 after taxes and PUR.

This is still applicable?

EDIT: Nevermind... Looks like the cutoff date is March 31st 2015.

Hmmm...has Disagaea 4 ever been $20 or under for the physical copy?

I kind of want to pick up Jet Moto, Tony Hawk, Syphon Filter, and Twisted Metal for nostalgia.

Chrono Cross since I already have Chrono Trigger.

Is it just me or is PSN store having trouble loading?

Well damn, a month and a half late to be the "anniversary" sale but this is one of the best sale we've seen in a long time.  Gonna have to pick up more credit.

Anyone here who has played Final Fantasy XIV can recommend a good class to start with and why?  I think it's time I give this game a try.

I heard the R&C collection on vita runs rough?

Wth...just bought $100 worth of digital games and now I can't sign in the store. -_______-

Not even on my Vita I can sign in. Friggin' BS.
