:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

i hope to god it odnt get revoked

all sales r final on psn sony should honour there mistake on there end period
holy crap chill out. sony honors price mistakes, but even if they didn't, why would you be 'pissed' since it's obviously a mistake? And in what world would they not give you your money back if they did cancel it (which they won't)?

There is one minor character that crosses over and keeps the same name and that is probably because the character pre-dates Demon's Souls (in an Armored Core game, seriously, Patches must be a Time Lord). A lot of the rest of the characters have Dark Souls equivalents such as Yurt->Lautrec, but other than very similar gameplay and the single shared character, they are legally separate universes. Sony owns the Demon's Souls IP so when From wanted to go muliplatform (likely due to how Sony did not have enough faith in the title to publish it in North America) they had to create a "completely original" game, Dark Souls in order to do it.

If you want to dig into the story and lore of the game there is extensive reading material.
Interesting! Thanks for the info.

I ended up selling my Demon's Souls physical copy for digital and also purchased Suikoden II. Thanks again OP!

Nothing for me this week though.

Argh...when are some of these season passes from last year gonna have a sale? Looking at Alien: Isolation, Shadow of Mordor and The Evil Within specifically...
Alien Isolation is still $60 after 7 months, whereas even the bigger selling AC Unity is down to $40 on PSN. Been waiting to buy it, but I want it to go below $30. With how much they are neglecting pricing it appropriately compared to retailers, I'd even pay $28.99.

This is why there's still no point in fully transferring to digital when some games go cheaper on disc way faster than they do digitally.

And it's why other than PS+ freebies and GwG, I almost never get anything available at retail because it's almost always cheaper. Games that are old, past generation, hard to find or digital only PSN and XBL games. That's it.

The only recent full retail game I've paid for digital was Lords of the Fallen, which was probably a mistake when MS had it for $9 one day.

I was looking into Fantasy Hero but decided against it. It appears that there are four playable characters with possibly four different stories, but only one save slot, in order to play the other characters simultaneously you have to buy the DLC that unlocks more save slots....and that just seemed a tad bit shady to me. Especially since the DLC is almost the same price as the game on sale. Didn't look worth it for nearly 15 bucks.
yea i passed too. Sale wasn't big enough, i'll wait for 75% off or more, it didn't look that great

Destiny of Spirits is ending in June, right? Seriously, Sony?
hmm isn't that that free card game or something? What do you mean its ending? Will it not be free after that? If so maybe i should d.load and try it

June 30th. I assume it must have made absolutely no money with how it just came out last year. The basic concept had done neat ideas thread just not enough meat on the bones and the whole thing is a bit clunky and obtuse for how simple it is.

It's kind of a shame.

You like false advertising eh? He might not want addon dlc man this is why game industry lies so much cause to many like you....

They don't? That's pretty crappy since its not like there's Vita versions they're pushing.
I think he meant 'they don't need to support it' as in, it's automatic, not as in, they aren't required to support it. All a dev has to do is make a game for ps4, and it will support remote play automatically without doing anything, assuming it's not a camera based game, etc.

Almost nobody played the game, and of that almost nobody, a further almost nobody ever spent money to buy stuff in game.

So Sony is shutting it down, and people are acting like it's a surprise and that Sony is the devil, despite it being the only sane thing to do for a game nobody is paying for.

Grim Fandango is a fantastic game but the "Remaster" is really half-assed.
Really? I thought they went all out with it...even going as far as redoing the whole soundtrack with a real orchestra. What's half-assed about it? (out of genuine curiosity...loved the original and am on the fence about the vita remaster that's on sale)

The backgrounds are exactly the same, and they didn't fix any of the weird pathing stuff. It's literally the exact same game running in the background with new models/lighting. The new models even still have the giant visible seams on every joint. Sometimes that new lighting can make stuff way harder to see, too. As an example, the pointing-sign in the woods. Put it down in the wrong spot and it can be hard to tell where it is without switching back to the old grafix.

I can't say I really noticed the soundtrack difference.

At least that Day of the Tentacle special edition will require no extra attention because it's already literally perfect as it is. That era of 2D SCUMM games holds up so well. See: Full Throttle and Curse of Monkey Island.

fuck YES. This right here, this is good news.

I hope it means Mega Man Legends 2 will get a PSN release soon too. Legends 1 can fucking rot for all I care.

The score was redone? Hmm...I played some of it but it's in the backlog, but...I. Loved. That. Soundtrack. It's just downright sexy.

Ya...according to the developer, the score was re-recorded with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. But the soundtrack was always great, anyway.

Well, I guess I liked the old game enough that I don't mind it still being the old game...but not sure if I'll shell out for the remaster right now if there isn't much new polish to differentiate it from the game I finished like over a decade ago (I already have enough stuff in my backlog that I haven't played before). Thanks for the info!

Oh well that's better I suppose. Sounded like they were opting to disable it entirely (which I'm sure is possible because you can't stream everything).

Tron Bonne is worth every penny.

I alway regret not buying it at GameQuesr when I saw it all those years ago. It would have looked nice signed by Inafune

I hope this means that Capcom will be releasing Legends and Breath of Fire III later. Never got the chance to play those games. Would be great playing those games on the vita.

I recently bought Final Fantasy Type-0 used assuming the Final Fantasy XV demo would be used, but I tried to put it in and it is valid.  I'm not really a demo kind of guy so first person to pm me requesting the code can have it.  I'll post once someone claims it to stop any pms.

I really really love Grim Fandango so far. Never played the original but I personally think the difference between the original graphics and the remastered graphics is decent. A nice pace of change from the super easy Telltale adventure games.

I just caught this bit of news so someone else probably missed it.

If you have P.T. on your PS4 do not delete it as it has been entirely wiped from Sony's servers and cannot be downloaded like most PSN content.

PT is sort of an important footnote in gaming history -- an interesting, creepy standalone mini-game that was rather unique and original that was ultimately a tease for another release.    It's like the ultimate easter egg, in some ways.   From that perspective, it's the type of thing that should be memorialized in gaming history, not deleted.   So... fuck Konami?  I guess?

I have no idea why they fired Kojima.  Perhaps they had reason -- we have no idea about their working relationship, and there could be extremely valid (non-gaming) reasons for firing someone that we'll never know.   But deleting P.T. from gaming history seems overkill -- not only unnecessary, but an actual affront against gaming from the perspective of the gaming historian.
