:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

Pier Solar PS4.

How To Survive PS4.

Both in cart, should I pull the trigger?

Pier solar I would rather have on Vita.. but it's not out yet, highly doubt they will make it crossbuy in the future.

How To Survive, I own it on PC but have not finished it. How does it play on console?

Watched some gameplay's of Demon Gaze, $16 is a little steep for me.

Everyone praises the Disgaea series, If I've never played any.. which is the best on the Vita? (old reviews/post etc show 4,then 2, 1, 3)

Nothing else in this sale remotely temps me, or I already own.
If I don't remember incorrectly we got a Disgaea game for the vita a couple months back with PS+ so you can check it out and see if its your style of game before buying.

I liked it, but just don't have the time to sink into each of the games from the series to really get into them.

How is the psp version of phantom brave vs the others?  Its a title I've always considered picking up but never have got around to it. I think there was a wii version and of course the original ps2 version?

Pretty sure they're all ports of the PS2 version. I haven't been able to find much worthwhile on whether it's worth picking up or differences from the other versions.

Great, so what you are really saying is I should buy both Danganronpa 1 & 2. Backlog be damned!

Are they at least not so tedious to get the platinum? I really liked VLR, but the last like 10 hours of trophies was kind of a slog. And just about ruined all the goodwill the game had built up.
I've heard the plat's are actually seriously tedious, for what it's worth.

personally I wouldn't buy both till you try the first unless you know you like VNs. i wish someone had warned me against it. [that said, it gets enough praise that I'm sure it's great for what it is]

affa also hates all stories so that is probably a ring of hell reserved just for him. ;)

I just bought a physical copy of 4 and have the ds version (just called Disgaea, I guess this is the first one?) as well. I played the demo of 4 and liked it, but I haven't played the vita game or the ds game yet. Are one or more of the earlier games different enough to warrant picking them up in the sale to add to the backlog?
DS and vita (psp actually) versions are slightly different actually. One has an extra character and there are a few other changes. Yes both are the original game, which is the best IMO, though i only played through 3. Characters and feel are quite differnt between the games. Basic mechanics, at least in the first 3 are pretty similar with the later ones just expanding on some of the stuff in the earlier ones. Not sure about 4, D2, ect though

I found the characters really grating in 3 though and just got one of the early bad endings to say i beat it =P

Thoughts on The Last Tinker and Pier Solar and the Great Architects? I watched some footage on YT of both games and I still can't decide if they are worth picking up.

Pretty good sale on PSN nevertheless. Right now my "plan to purchase" list contains Strider 2, Kung Fu Rabbit, White Night, and Pix The Cat.

Any feedback is appreciated.
Pier Solar is pretty darn fun if you like traditional old school RPG's. I bought the genesis version and picked it up digitally. Only played it a few hours though, i need to get back to it. Kung Fu Rabbit is a damn fun little platformer

see above on Pier solar.. but isn't it cross buy? I bought it on ps3 and thought it unlocked the PS4 version as well

I believe that How to Survive is supposed to be free for Xbox One owners with Gold Live memberships starting on 8/16. I'm skipping a PS4 purchase of the game for that reason.

Beat Crimsonland on Normal and it's a fun little top view twin stick shooter.

I can easily play on both the PS4 and the vita.

I might attempt to plat it.

Trigger Happy Havoc
So glad they dropped this dumbass name for the sequel. Seeing the spine art for the first game next to Danganronpa 2 really triggers my autism.

First game's plat is pretty harmless. If you play on normal you should be fine on getting some of the grindier trophies naturally. Stay away from Hard mode. It doesn't change shit for the puzzles, it just makes the game seriously annoying to play with when you're trying to read clues and it shoves a bunch of nonsense in your face to confuse you. Just beat the game once, and follow a trophy guide to get the rest.

The second game's plat can be a real bitch if you're unlucky. There's a mini game that opens up after the first or second chapter and it's just a mini action game where you beat enemies and bosses for loot. The trophies related to this make you find the rarest items which can be annoying as hell when you play through the mini-game a bunch of times and get the same items every time.

fuck Magical Girl Dorami Momomi.

Japanese Monokuma is voiced by the voice actress who does Doraemon.

I played a little of this on my PSP a couple nights ago and I would say it's b'tier for it's genre. It's certainly worth the $2 and seems like a pretty solid strategy rpg.

...unrelated

Also played some Disgaea 1 (Afternoon of Darkness) and Disgaea Infinite last night on my PSP. Disgaea 1 is really good. They really walk you into the terminology of the game ... which was great for me as it was my first experience with the series. At first I thought this might be too complex but the build up is nice. Strategy wise, it's certainly my cup of tea as I won't have to care as much about the team members I've created and can focus more on strategy. Honestly, if you like strategy games at all this is a must own experience. PERFECT for the handheld, I wouldn't however want to sit at my tv for hours on end playing it.

Disgaea Infinite though is a whole other beast. It's like watching a simple cartoon over and over where at first you have no control, then you get some minor tiny bits of control which changes the flow of the game. As a fan of Find Your Fate / Choose Your Own Adventure books I think it is quite good. You have about that much control and it'll take a while to see everything the game has to offer. It was good to play this after working through the Disgaea 1 stuff as the two main characters in D1 are in this too. Oh and 100% voice acted which I think is a plus. if that sounds good to you, it's MORE than worth the $3 they are asking for right now.

I have a feeling before this sale is over I'll have the other portable Disgaea games as well as the spinoff Prinny games.

Anyone recommend legasista or short peace ranko?
Honestly I don't really recommend Legasista. It's one of those play a level thing and you try to do everything perfect in said level to get a grade score. I didn't really care for it, but it's likely cause it's not a typical RPG type game. I just became bored over time, but some people like speedrunners and perfectionists will keep playing the same levels over and over until they have the grade they like.

I'm wondering if that first poster dude on the PS Blog will pick a new game to harass everyone about now that D2 finally went on sale...

Speaking of --. if I've played disgaea 1 and some of 3, and generally enjoy the series... should I pick up 2? I kind of know what I'm getting into, and i just don't know if it differentiates itself enough? if it were cheaper it would be a no brainer. If I had unlimited time it would also be a no brainer... but as it is, i can't figure out if I 'need' it. What does it add to the D1 experience? [i know there are completely different characters, etc, I'm talking mechanics).

I grabbed Legasista. It's not bad, plays like Cladun. Also, the music is really good. Just wish it had English dub.
This is good to hear... I played some of Legasista during the PSNow trial and enjoyed it, and have had Cladun on my wishlist for ages... I was really sad because for awhile we couldn't buy C2 so I was worried I missed it forever, and now both are mine [and cheap!]

Grabbed Beach Buggy Racing about 5 hours ago.. and just barely put it down.. game is a ton of fun.  It's a Mario Kart clone that was originally made for mobile devices converted to a console game, but don't let that deter you from picking it up.  For $4 the game has a platinum, and platinum roadmaps say it'll take you 50+ hours to get.  In the 5 hours I played I got only 60 stars out of the possible 360 in the game and I don't think that even includes the other modes.  Graphics style reminds me of the Sly Cooper universe.  Anyway just wanted to jump on and recommend people pick this up, definitely worth the sale price, and dare I say worth the full asking price.

damn you for putting this on my radar.

i just broke down and picked up a bunch of stuff like criminal girls, shinobi 2, and a pile of 'cheap' vita/psp games. Now this too?

I totally agree. I played the game on Android, on my tablet, and really enjoyed it. Picked it up the day it launched on PS4, because even at full price it is a great deal. They removed all the micro transactions and gave us the full game, plus we get full controller support. Love the graphics, courses are really nice, gameplay is fun.

Thanks for the recommendations.  Guess I'll pick up that Dune Buggy game.

Any thoughts on The Last Tinker?  It seemed like a game destined for PS Plus freebie status eventually so I have avoided it so far.

It's a style-focused Assassin's Creed clone that's not very good.

I went ahead and picked up Beach Buggy Racing, and while it's fun I'm a little bummed you can't seem to do local multiplayer with CPU players on the track. I got it for me and my son to play and while just having the two of us racing is better than nothing, I figured we'd be able to do a race against a full slate of carts.

If I'm missing something please let me know.

Also interesting, if you have two controllers up and running and play a solo/career race, both controllers can be used to control the cart. This caused much chaos and confusion between me and my son earlier.

Good thing you said that, no point in me picking it up in that case.

Is there any way to check your library on the ps3 like you can on the ps4? I want to check my huge list of PS+ games and stuff ive bought but i see no real easy way of doing that. I think i can go to transaction history or something but thats clunky and would take forever

yes it is, thanks for pointing that out.

I meant cross buy between PS4 and Vita
Hmm. My understanding is that whenever a cross buy item comes it its retroactive. So when it comes for vita shouldn't it be a free d.load if you bought it before?

Along with Woah Dave, Don't Die Mr. Robot is one of the Vita's most underrated games.
While I totally agree that Don't Die Mr Robot is an excellent little game, I gave up on Woah Dave pretty quickly. Seemed like the game was largely unplayable from the beginning, I really didn't understand the point of the game at all.

I ended up making a spreadsheet of all my digital downloads from PlayStation by going through my transaction history. Not sure why they can't make it easy like the xbox website, where you can see a list in alphabetic order of all your digital games. If there is a way I'd like to know too. I have approx. over 150 games via PlayStation , mostly from just these sales and PS+.

Have you given this a try yet? It's a snippet of Javascript that makes managing your PSN purchase history a lot more manageable.

Woah Dave is largely similar to the original Mario Bros which was pretty addictive for its time. It's pretty basic from the graphics to the gameplay but it's a great high score chaser. The goal is to collect enough coins to hit $1.50. That's pretty much it.

I don't think they have mentioned it will be cross buy when the vita version drops. If it is great.
But they may have, I honestly haven't payed attention to the game enough to know. All I know is the PS3 and PS4 versions are crossbuy and they have announced a vita version.

The problem with the game is that I tried it a few times, and just died every time within a minute. Maybe I suck at the game, but the difficulty was just way too high. They really should have made it a little easier to start, it just seemed unfair from the get go.
