:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

Just finished Everyone's Gone to the Rapture. I'm really split between the game.
On one hand it's beautiful and the soundtrack is amazing but on the other hand the story is incredibly vague and doesn't really give you a sense of understanding what happened to everyone upon completing it. I understand bits and pieces but that's it and I did a lot of side stuff and listened to all the audio and what not.

May give it another play through eventually. i must of missed some crucial part of the story or something.
The fact that you finished the game today is why I'm glad I didn't bite. Any game that lasts a few hours isn't worth $20 IMO.

Yeah, I can understand that. I paid the PS+ pre-order price and had my eye on this game since it was announced and since I knew the devs also made Dear Esther I had an idea of what I was getting myself into. It was pretty much exactly what I was expecting, a bit more vague however. I've spent money on far worse, lol.

Not for everyone but if you enjoyed other similar titles then it's safe to assume this will be enjoyable as well.

Although I trash talked the game earlier today, I will probably still buy it later once the price comes down. The graphics were awesome in the trailer.

Everyones Gone To The Rapture is amazing for what it is, a beautiful, atmospheric, story driven exploration, its basically a niche game that people will either love, or hate, bottom line, the game itself is beautiful, the music is top notch, for the 16 bucks i paid for it, I think it is by far worth the price

14 cents too short on getting Parasite Eve 2. Don't even feel like adding $5.
If you have a Gamestop Powerup Rewards account, you can redeem 3,900 points for a $3 PSN code.

Are the Final Fastasy games for PSP any good? Looks like those are most of the games I don't have as part of this sale.

They play just like they used to. So yeah, they're good.

I recommend FFIX the most.

I'll prob get Vagrant Story, since I always hear that it's effing awesome. Thinking about Legend of Mana too; any opinions?
I can never get very far on Legend of Mana before losing interest. And this is coming from someone that played Secret of Mana like 15 times, and Seiken Densetsu 3 about 5 times.

I put 80+ hours on DmC PC and I bought DmC:DE for my new PS4. I was mad DE never hit PC. Now I'm FURIOUS.

DmC looks amazing at 60 FPS and there are so many under the hood tweaks (Turbo mode) that really fix a lot of the awful crap about the game (No skip button on escorting Kat. Mundus is still a lifeless boring villain and when faced with a chance to explain why enslaving humanity ISN'T a good thing in the face of his eloquent case in favor of it, Dante can only muster obscenities.). There's still a lot of it but it's just a wonderful revision of a solid game.

DMC4:SE is pretty good as well but it suffers from the fact that it's still DMC4: An awful game. Yeah, everyone and their dog LOOOOOOOVES jackass don't give a shit Dante. He is fun. People are either combolords making videos with Dante or mindlessly giving lip service to them too. Fine, whatever. That doesn't change the fact that it's a miserable tedious game with an enemy roster that makes musou enemies look interesting. The levels are utter trash the first time, full of awful puzzles and platforming. I don't care about the backtracking. If they were good levels, it wouldn't be a problem because you are supposed to play the game six fuck ing times anyway because it is a complete casual snoozefest for the first two runs until you finally get some difficulty. Only now you triple that for having two more sets of characters to play. Oh, and Nero sucks. Not as a character. Only casuals whine about that. He just isn't fun to play.

Back on topic, Vergil, Trish, and Lady are all quite fun to play. They aren't hugely full featured but they stand head and shoulders above Dante and Nero in the fun department. Just being able to muck around with them is worth the price of admission alone. Though, given the choice, I would play PC and just download a 100% save file so I don't have to play that shit-ass campaign to get to the good part.

Don't get me wrong. DMC4 is still backed by a solid combat system that is not emulated anywhere else in the genre (Even DmC is almost as different from DMC4 as both are from Bayonetta.). But it just does every single thing it can to let down the combat unless for you doing crazy Dante combos is its own reward. Still, worth it if DMC4 combat at all interests you because it really is that tasty to sample.

EDIT: If you didn't play DMC4 on PC, first, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. Second, DMC4SE would be your first taste of Turbo Mode and LDK Mode. The first is amazing because it helps you finish an awful DMC4 level roughly 20% faster. The second is its own difficulty which throws 4 bajillion monsters into each encounter which is gloriously stupid and as anti-DMC as you could possibly get without having black hair but it is certainly a fun diversion.

Treat DMC4SE like a toy to muck with, an instrument to learn how to play. It's FAR better at that than as a game.

Kung Fury looks like a straight up ripoff/homage/sendoff of One Finger Death Punch. OFDP nailed that gameplay SO perfectly I doubt Kung Fury can hold a candle to it.

Walking games: Not even ONCE. Get that filthy indie garbage away from me. I'm not young and stupid any more. You can't trick me into thinking you're deep just by being vague.

Dissidia, no. Not that its a bad game, but the sequel (012[duodecim]) which has been on sale previously includes the contents of the original game so you should just wait for next sale (probably February) to get the sequel.

The nice benefit of the PSP versions is they don't have the longer loading times of the PS1 versions and is formatted to fit the screen instead of 4x3. War of the Lion is a great adaption of FFT, I purchased, but have not gotten around to playing FF3 and 4.

I can't decide; I have in my cart PE 1 and 2, Chrono Cross, FF:T and Vagrant Story -- I'm $.95c short to get all and don't want to add $ to my wallet. Have already redeemed GS points -- what should I go for? I already have physical copies of all but PE2, but the main reason is to play on my Vita.

You probably would have been better off getting the Gamestop $5 Off coupon for 5000 points than getting a $3 PSN credit for 3900 points. (If you had that many points.)

I'm with you on that. I decided that I'm going to play through it again for trophies (some of them are quite interesting, and have you do things you otherwise wouldn't do) and turn on subtitles. I think maybe hearing the story and seeing the subtitles (which also show the name of the character who's speaking, i found out) will hopefully make the story click for me.

If you're on CAG, you have an astronomical backlog. Gameplay time is more precious than money.

I will never, EVER understand the sort of people who think a game's value is measured in the hours of your life it consumes. I would rate countless 1.5 hour games over almost as many 80 hour grindfests.

Am I the only person here who is stoked for Goat Simulator?! $8.99 for a bucket of laughs seems quite agreeable.

I think i'm going to pick up Parasite Eve 1&2. Never played those before and always wanted too. I think I might get Final Fantasy Tactics...another one i've never played. I missed out on a lot.

Don't forget Sony Rewards. They also have PSN codes if you have enough points.

Have the Parasite Eve games aged well? I'm tempted at $3, but if they're a waste of time I won't bother.
I think the in game videos aged better than the actual gameplay graphics.

That being said, PE1 is still a very good game (PE2 is in backlog). I wish more RPG's had that style of free movement while your meter to attack goes up. Getting the second ending takes some grinding; however, it doesn't take as long if your weapons are upgraded well enough in each of those walkthroughs.
