:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

^ I have realized that no matter what I buy, I am going to play Rocket League for the foreseeable future; and, when I am not playing RL I am getting myself killed in BloodBo(u)rne - come at me, Vig :)

I was so ready to pull the trigger on Hotline Miami 2 [loved the first one], Grim Fandango [masterpiece], and Titan Souls [looks good]... but now am having severe purchase paralysis. I don't need them. I have a huge backlog. I can wait for a better sale.

Think I might just get Grim Fandango, since that price is undeniably worth it. But it's taking every ounce of will power I have not to just buy everything.

It's amazing how much energy goes into deciding whether to spend $20 on some games, when I'd drop $20 on crap I don't need at the grocery store w/o a second thought. At least I don't have to exercise to work off Hotline Miami 2.
Yes, just get grim fandango. You can change your mind about the others in the weekend !

Blood borne was the last great game I played...I never play games for a long time (commitment issues ;)).

I put over 45hours the first 7 days it was out.

Want to play again but beat it already and have the inevitable backlog I will never play to attend to

I can't finish a game, mostly because of commitment issues like you said; and also, it feels "empty" once I finish a game. I can never spend so much time on one game alone, either.

I will most likely play Blood Borne for best part of next 2-3 years, and still have the final boss fight left lol. ( I am not complaining by the way :) ) But I did like the fact that even when I suck so bad at BB, I keep coming back unlike other games. That is a testament that it is a great game. So eventually, I will get the digital copy and dont have to worry about swapping discs everyday.

Don't forget that you get 3x Sony rewards points for any of the games in the retro sale. I bought HM2 but I'm struggling with whether to get Grim Fandango, 3gb on the Vita card is kinda hoggish, and I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy that type of game.

Grim Fandango is great...and I think this is the lowest it's been (have been waiting for a good sale on it since it came out). But the puzzles are tricky and obscure sometimes (in that 90s item-based point and click adventure kind of way...i.e. you might need a walkthrough here and there)...and it does occasionally have its flaws carried over from the original (like the few screens where the camera is pulled way back in a distant overhead view are awful on the vita version...basically leaving you controlling a 3 pixel dot hunting for other 3 pixel dots). The story, voice acting, humor, style, adventure, and overall gameplay totally make up for its flaws, though. It's sort of a gem of late 90s PC adventure...but if late 90s PC adventure isn't your thing, you might not dig it as much.

Love Bloodborne, eats up most of my gaming time. Two hints to relieve some pain. Start by grinding out your first 20 levels, things get easier after you've got some stats and not every creature insta-kills you. Second, ring your Bell for the first few bosses, co-op is much less painful than fighting them 50 times, and having two players involved means you actually have a minute to run away and heal. Once you are level 20 and beat father G. the game opens up and becomes much friendlier IMHO. I'm level 66 now, still loving every minute, even the insane deaths.

I ended up passing on everything from that list but GF. HL2 will certainly be cheaper sooner than later, maybe even PS+. Titan Souls I looked at a bit more and realized it wasn't quite what I thought it was so I want it cheaper.

So basically learn to reign yourself in at the grocery store and then you can splurge more on PSN.

Finally played MGS GZ since I wanted to get a feel for it to see if buying MGSV day one would be a good idea...

I knew people said it was short, but seriously...ONE mission?!

Dont even bother if you haven't played the other games in the series. Minimum mgs 3 and peace walker if you want to follow the current snake. That being said, I can't wait for everyone to mention who was the kid? And why was that girl tortured/killed/revived again? What's the deal with the walking machine? Why is a person wearing a gas mask floating? Etc. :)

Are you saying not to bother playing MGSV if you've never played any of the Metal Gear games?! If so, that's absurd. Story hardly makes sense (and that's putting it nicely). I'm sure if you're into stealth/action/adventure games and never played a Metal Gear game, you could go into V and have a fun time.

Yea idc about some stupid ass story which is so contorted noone can even make sense of it.

I had fun in GZ though with the gameplay...got my heart racing a couple times since I hardly play stealth games.

Thinking about picking up Beyond: Two Souls and Child of Light. Any thoughts on either of those games? I heard really good things about Child of Light and Beyond: Two Souls has mixed reviews but I did enjoy Heavy Rain and have been meaning to play Indigo Prophecy.

Also considering picking up Persona 4 just to have a digital back-up.

Beyond: Two Souls, pick it up. I was a huge fan of Heavy Rain and although B2S wasn't as great, I still had a fun time playing Ellen Page and company.

Child of Light is great as well. Unique visuals, lite rpg mechanics. You can't go wrong at that price!

So stupid that you can't use discount codes on preorders. I want to get TTK now, but I'd have to choose not to get the discount.

I guess I could save it for Uncharted, since we probably won't be getting the steelbook.

Is it a foregone conclusion that Child of Light will eventually be a ps+ game in the near future? I've been waiting for a sale, but since it was a GWG for the Xbox One, I can see it also being free for PS+. Same goes for Tomb Raider.

People could say that about any game in the series after the first one, but I think the games still work as singular experiences. They tend to supply you with as much information as you need to know. While there is value in prior experience, I don't think they are written in a way that it is strictly necessary.

I think the biggest hurdle to enjoying the story in these games is probably actually the willingness of the player to indulge in it.

I would hardly call it faultless, but overall the story is fine. The biggest problem with the story in these games is that each one is supposed to be Kojima's last, so he keeps writing himself into corners.

I would say the willingness of the player to indulge the story was precisely what Kojima played with in MGS2, shattering his universe and the player's expectations, and yanking the player around like the player was a puppy on a leash worked by an asshole, all to make some really asinine and elementary statements about media control.

Anyone who survived MGS2 has every right to not want to indulge Kojima's storytelling.

That said, you're on the money. In my experience, all of the important information and emotional weight tends to be kept within each game. You really do not need prior experience to make sense of everything.

I mean, hell, having played Peace Walker before playing GZ would only highlight that GZ must have been written after Kojima went off his meds as he immediately went for rape and torture of the two loveable comic relief sweethearts from PW. War has changed indeed, because Kojima suddenly decided war wasn't the schlocky comedy it was in PW.

Are there any discount codes or anything going on this weekend? I'm definitely jumping on Psychonauts and thinking about Child of Light since I've heard good things.

Been getting back into Destiny and after getting to 20, that light system is such a confusing way to handle leveling past the "max" at level 20. It took a while before I got armor to let me "level up" to 22, but I'll be glad that they're getting rid of that as the sole determination of your progression past level 20. All of the stuff they've been saying about improving the loot distribution and such with the big update for The Taken King's launch gives me hope that this is the Diablo III UEE of Destiny's life where they get rid of some of the "work" inherent in the game's systems and just make it more fun to shoot stuff, earn XP, and get better loot.

I tried out the Iron Banner since there were two decent bounties and it's impossible as a level 20 to do anything since I'm a fly compared to all of the 30+ people. One match ended with me having a 0.07 K/D ratio.

I haven't picked Destiny back up since after the 3rd month of release.  I have 3 level 29 character, and maxed level 30 guns that I used to kill every and all players then.  Now, my K/D ratio is not so different from yours as well playing against current players.

I had sworn off of Destiny, but with all that I'm hearing about the changes they are implementing with the Taken King's release, I may give it another honest chance.

So I beat Strikers in less than an hour. The unlimted continues limit my desire to get good at it. Still for a buck fifty not bad way to spend an hour.

I'd like to give destiny another shot. But I'd have to pay another $40-$60 for all the expansion material.

Halfway through getting the platinum for Grim Fandango.

I can honestly say if it wasn't for the games humor and an online walkthrough I probably would of gotten frustrated to the point of quitting.

Even with a guide there were a few times I got confused.

None the less, I am glad I'm finally experiencing the game's story and humor. I've heard so much about this game since it's release back in 98.

Welcome to almost every "point & click" adventure game from the 80's. LOL

Remember to grab the ps plus games. Today and tomorrow are the last day before you lose the chance to get then. Go to the online psn store and grab all the games as well, even if you do not own the console since you may someday get it and want to play the game.

Kojima is a better storywriter then Tom Clancy ever was. The storyline of MGS1 takes a complete dump on anything Clancy has ever written. We should beg Kojima to start officially writing Political Thrillers.

Additionally I thought the reveal of Arsenal Gear was brilliant and made complete sense. Google IS Arsenal Gear quite frankly, for those who opt-in to said companies bs. It may likely become Arsenal Gear for everyone later as well which is why there's Meshnet.
