I don't currently own a PS3, but I've had a PSN account for a long time. Could I download these games via the online store and have them waiting for me for when I eventually get a PS3?

PS3, I guess I'll have to go with Dead Nation and Wipeout HD+Fury, although I already have Wipeout HD. PSP selection is decent - I'll get Pursuit Force just because of how high-priced it is on the PS Store and maybe ModNation Racers as well.
Already posted (different forum) and I already got everything =\
Was it this thread?

PSN has returned. Time to play Uncharted 2 mp!

Or do you mean different forum website rather than different subforum on CAG?
Also learn to format... this is just... sad =\
Yeah, copied and pasted as plain text.

I was excited to learn I would be getting two free games until I found out I had four of the five games already. Sucks. I am thinking I can at least download LBP and trade in my disc copy somewhere.

Anyhow, I can't complain about a free dinner, as my mom would say.

I thought for sure they would offer more of the Greatest Hits and I could score Ratchet and Clank. I would think that they could splurge and at least offer LBP 2. lol.

In for Wipeout HD and Dead Nation.
Really wish they were giving out disc based games though, these downloadable games are one of my pet peeves in the world.

Europe is getting Quest for Booty, which makes me sad since I already have Infamous, LBP and Wipeout...

Same thing here exactly. Guess I'm getting Dead Nation and Super Stardust HD. Ah well, better than nothing.

I was lucky enough to create a EU account back when there was the glitch that made GTA vice city stories free, which was on April 14th I think.. so I'm glad I'll be able to download Quest for Booty.

If we get them both...

Wipeout and Dead Nation for PS3
and
Pursuit Force and Killzone Liberation for PSP for me.

Already have most of what they offered.
So... if I have multiple PSN accounts on a single PS3, I can have a lot of free games?
Probably not, because they associate your PSN account with the PS3(s?) that you've used it with. This is evidenced by the most recent (post-outage) update required us all to change our passwords on the very PS3s that we used our accounts on.

Whats that got to do with anything? I believe it just went off activations... I was able to change all my accounts including my UK ones. This will be absolutely no different.

Fairly decent free games, I pretty much never use psn so pretty nice compensating for an outage I cared less about. Dead nation, wipeout, killzone and modnation for me.

Sadly, I have the majority of those titles. They should've just let you pick any two PS3 and PSP games. Anyways, does anyone know if these are gonna be "really free" or "only free for as long as you're a PS+ subscriber (aka 1 month for the majority of us)?"

The selection is pretty poor - I'd be happier if I got a single free disk-based game, like when I got Sly 2 as compensation for a bad OPM demo disk that wiped out my PS2 memory card.

I don't currently own a PS3, but I've had a PSN account for a long time. Could I download these games via the online store and have them waiting for me for when I eventually get a PS3?

I'm not sure if anyone knows those kinda details yet.

Bitches gonna bitch.
I love the people complaining that these free games are not enough.
XBL, a service we pay for, gave us Undertow for several weeks of crappy service in 2008(?).
There was no choice. Undertow was the free game, whether you already owned it or not.
Sony has provided several good games as choices. There's no reason Sony should give you a physical game so you can go directly to GS and trade it in. You've got some choices. Be grateful. If you can't deal with that then grab your cookie and get your milk elsewhere.

i agree. and as a serious PS3 gamer i work with, he basically said,
1, i dont pay for the service, so if they would offer me no incentives, oh well (he is serious too, how can you complain about somthing to dont pay for.Yes you pay to play your game,s but off line was available, so you could have played your games)
2, i does not say anywhere in the terms and conditions that we promise trouble free service , or something to that effect. (not a direct quote) again, if sony is offering a free service to all its customers, it has the right to stop at any time (it was not down by there doing, and they could have left it running all unsecured. how much would be be bitching then

now, as for my thoughts, i am a psp owner. i used the psn store ot download demos for me and my kids. when it was not available, i just played the games i had. what a concept. honestly, (i am an xbox 360 gamer) where there was the xbox live issue in 2008, i juts finished the games i had, or replayed a game i wanted to play, but never got back to. I was greatful they gave me undertow. i never once complained it was out and i could not get online to game. and i pay for the service.

I agree, I'm really surprised Sony even gave us this good of a selection. I was expecting maybe a few crappy minis or old ps1 titles that no one would want, but they went above and beyond what I was hoping for. There's no reason anyone should complain, even if they have all of the titles from the list. If you have them all, so what? Recommend the free games to your friends, or anyone else that doesn't have them yet.. might as well make the best of it. Hell, if you do own them this "welcome back" event should make the community for the free multiplayer games larger, so in a way it may benefit you.

All I can say is that this is a hell of a lot better than Undertow was, or any other free mass-video game giveaway that I can remember. I already have LBP and and JUST bought Infamous a few weeks ago lol. The funny thing is that it doesn't bother me at all, because Dead Nation, Ratchet & Clank, Wipeout HD, and Super Stardust HD all look pretty enticing for me since I've been interested in them and don't own any of them.

Oh wow. I'm actually pretty impressed. I was expecting cheap games, minis, or PS1 titles everyone already owns.

I guess I'm in for Pursuit Force and Killzone Liberation (already have ModNation Racers). I don't have a PS3, unfortunately.

But really, it doesn't matter to me what games I'm potentially missing. The downtime didn't affect me; I don't play online, I'm not a PS+ member, I'd already downloaded my PSN purchases, and I had no purchases I was looking forward to making.

...Just the same, I'm not about to complain about getting free stuff either. Big thank you to Sony!

The small compensation isn't only for the outage, its also for the leaked personal details and credit card info.

Although I'm not sure the above comments were directed at me, since I mainly wished to know whether the free titles were "actually free" or "PS+ free" I'll address them as if they were even though I don't think I was complaining unreasonably...

As a person who has regularly supported Sony through both physical purchases and through the PlayStation Online Store, I own the majority of these offered titles (all except Dead Nation), so the limited selection of titles is not proper compensation for me. Although it doesn't apply to everyone here, having to cancel my cards and update my info has already cost me both time and money in the short term not to mention having your personal details out there could cost you also in the long term, so why would myself or others who are not satisfied by this paltry offering not be entitled to voice our opinion on this limited selection if we find it to be unsatisfactory?

Be grateful? I'd be grateful if this never happened, but since it did, I don't want to be compensated less than those who only suffered from being offline. The selection sucks to me personally and I can complain because...well, I can and I feel perfectly justified in doing so since its just so damn therapeutic.

Say what you will about the XBox Live outage back in 2008 which was caused by a large surge of new users, people that bought Undertow (which admittedly was terrible) were refunded, so nobody lost out who owned the game. If they previously paid for it, they could just buy whatever else they wanted with the credit instead. ...also, during that time, no one's personal or credit info was stolen via XBox Live being down.

Sony can/should do better than what they've planned thus far.

I don't see how they can do any better.

Free PS3 games (top notch games).
Free PSP games (again, top notch).
Free movie rentals.
Free PSN+.
Free PS Home items :)lol:...which is laughable, but still).
Free identity Theft Protection.

Yea, my info was likely stolen but who cares. Most of the information available for the taking is readily available in an online phone book service. I still have yet to see any legit claims about credit cards being stolen, and I still don't believe that info was taken.

The identity theft protection covers our information. The abundance of games, movies, and services covers the PSN downtime (downtime on a FREE service I should add). What more do you want!? Kevin Butler to be your personal Butler?
I don't see how they can do any better.
Nothing unreasonable.

For starters, for those that already have the games they're offering, they can...credit their online wallet, so they can purchase something else from the PS Store. Choices are nice.

Since I seem to be the only one wondering what kind of "free" they're offering, no limitation free games would be preferred for the ones offered.

Meh on the movie rentals, 1 month of PS+, and PS Home. Those I can live without.

Edit: Thank you SmashMan for answering my question 2 posts below, you're right, I didn't read that as it hurt my eyes to read the OP and I never was good at Where's Waldo. Formatting helps tremendously, its actually a lot clearer on the PlayStation Blog and mentions it twice.

We will always complain, lol. I have the PS3 games, except for SSD HD. I have platinumed (Is that a word?) inFamous and LBP. So I am simply stating that EU gets Quest for Booty and I wish we did too. I think the games could have been a bit less dated. Why not LBP2, since it completely outdates the original? That is MY complaint.

Dead Nation is awesome, though, for those not certain if they should get it.

Maybe you're the only one who didn't read the line: "All PlayStation Network customers can select two PS3 games from the following list. The games will be available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored and can be kept forever."

It just occurred to me I kinda forgot to mention in my other post that I definitely understand how others were affected by this (especially with the credit card leak), and I don't see anything wrong with those people feeling as though they should get some sort of compensation.

I meant to say I'm personally not affected by this. The only two cards I ever used on PSN are worthless now (one's been issued another number since its last use on PSN[from a different problem] and the other was a non-refillable gift card with about 34 cents left). However, I'm sure there are many, many people who aren't in my situation.

I hope I didn't offend anyone.
Seems like the PSP store is not online yet. :/
I've been checking every 2 hours since last night, and it's driving me insane. I want to get these free PSP games before my trip damn it.
