PSP/PS1/Mini Game Saves on Vita

I know that Vita saves are tied to the game bubble and if I delete the game then I delete the save.
Is that true for the PSP, etc game saves? Or are they saved somewhere separate (and therefore stay saved even if I delete the PSP game?

I have PS+ and I'm backing up game saves to the Cloud but only Vita games are listed. Anyone know for sure? I don't want to lose all my progress.

I have 39 MB left on my 32 GB stick. Maybe I should only play one game at a time.
At least I know I can take a break from Final Fantasy and not have to start all over again.
