Quality Camcorder for Cheap?

My high school reunion is in July (I'm old... () and I figure I will need a camcorder to capture some of the good moments. On one hand it'll be nice to have a camcorder in my home but at the same time, I don't want to spend $500-600 and not use the damn thing much at all. Here are some of the things I'm looking for in one:

-Long recording time (think several hours)
-Rechargable battery
-Good in lowlight environments (I dunno how bright/dark the location will be but better safe than sorry)

Any ideas (personal recommendations one ones you all have would be extremely helpful)?

several hours? you could get a MiniDV cam with a bunch of tapes or maybe a HD or DVD based unit. just go to BB or whatever and see what they've got.

i bought a samsung MiniDV cam for like $270 a few years ago but you can only record like an hour on one tape. you'd be changing tapes a lot during the course of the evening...
