I have been thinking about getting a new tv for my bedroom. Right now I just have a simple 20inch flat screen that I got about 4 yrs ago. I want to get an hdtv widescreen for playing xbox and watching movies. I don't know much about hdtvs so I was hoping someone here could give me some advice on which one to get or what to look for when buying one. There were a couple that I have in mind already.

The first is a toshiba 26" http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...t&productCategoryId=cat03003&id=1097582050451 I can get that one for $434.70.

The next is a 26" Samsung http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6407836&type=product&id=1077626340538 which is $527.60.

The last one that I liked was a Sony 30" http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6494135&type=product&id=1077628885856 which is $719.25.

I like the Sony but its a lot more than the other two. So I will probably get either the Toshiba or the Samsung. If anyone could give me some recommendations I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Get the Sony, because according to the specs it will UPCONVERT 720p signals to 1080i. Since there are far more 720p games than 1080i games, that could be a huge plus for you.

But you'd better make sure it does that at the store.

All HDTV's will take a 720p HD TELEVISION SIGNAL and upconvert it to 1080i if the TV itself doesn't support 720p natively, but XBOX GAMES are a different animal...and most TV's wont upconvert that signal regardless. Meaning you'd have to play the game in 480p and not 720p.

But the specs say the Sony can do a 720p to 1080i upconvert. Google it...if the Sony can take a 720p xbox game and display it at 1080i, thats the deal-closer right there.

..oh..and stay away from the Samsung...samsung is shit.

Have fun finding the 26" Toshiba. The new model of that TV comes out next week. It's the 26HF85 instead of the 26HF84. I just got a 23" Toshiba LCD HDTV, 23HL84, and man is it worth the money. Kicks ass!!!!

I checked tonight and the store I work at has 2 still in stock.

Man I've looked EVERYWHERE in my area for that television and just gave up, it looks like a kick ass tv.

get the 30 inch hdtv widescreen sanyo at walmart for 530 bucks. its picture is as good as anything out there.

Stick with the Sony. Sony may make unreliable game consoles, but their TVs are still top notch. And yes by the way, the Sony's can upconvert a 720p signal to 1080i with no problem whatsoever.
