Question about trading in consoles.

Do game retailers (EB/Gamestop, Gamecrazy) require consoles to have the sticker w/ the serial number? If the console works properly and is not damaged, I can't imagine that it would be an issue, but I thought I'd ask to clarify. Thanks in advance.

Well, from my experience from EB/GS.
I tried to trade in a complete - fully functioning XBOX console that had the sticker serial number smudged off (I suppose from constantly playing & the heat wore off the #) & was turned down. Apparently, accordingly to the manager in charge, EB/GS's store policy suggest that they can't accept consoles without a serial number.
