Alright, so I've been checking around the GS website a bit. And it seems that a lot of the rarer games, Rez, Rhapsody, Suik1&2, etc. Are available at stores near me. Although I don't have the money for them all myself, I would like to offer them to you fellow CAG'ers. I can have the games shipped to a store near me then ship them to you at cost. If your interested shoot me a PM :)
 
You can actually just have any gamestop send its game to a location near the buyer and have it held. There's no need for you to buy it and send it to someone. Gamestop will do it for you.
 
Yeah, but I doubt that they would ship ONE game accross the country. Plus some people might not have a GS near enough to them to warrant the drive.

Question: anyone know if it's a long distance call from Dallas, TX to Ft.Worth, TX? They're less than 50mi apart...
 
They do ship single games if you know where a store has an item in-stock. You're right about people not having access to gamestop of course.
 
If it's goign to be costing me money to call the stores near me (within 100mi), I'll probably just post a list of stores, and "rare" games that they have so people can call them themselves and have em shipped to them. It would probably be a really good idea for other CAG's in area's where not many others are to do the same :)


EDIT: I'm preparing a list of stores, and the games that they have in my area. I don;t have a free long distance plan and don;t want to get charged for calling em, but most cell companies offer that. So the list will be coming shortly, if I don't list a game, jsut request it!

i would just like to add.. anyone in the Provo/Orem area and is looking for the firefighter game its at the university mall GS for 25.. they also had like 3-5 Kirby 64s 2 more starcrafts (and i just picked up the last Paper mario they had).. also saw DDR konami mix in the PSOne and also Sol Divide .. (the starcraft is 24.99 also)
 
My local GS had RE3 for cube for 40 complete last time i was there, i already own it so i didnt pick it up, but its in the Waterford CT gamestop

it would depend.. are they in different area code?.. if yes then yes it would be.. just borrow someone's cell phone and call after 6.. its free LD on most plans after 6
 
is DDR konami mix Rare i think i seen it brand new sealed for 30? or it was used for 30 one or the other : )


Suikoden 2 is 59.99 and way too much to pay for disc only

If your goign to post a GS location, please list the FULL address and phone number for it, as well as the games that they had. That way if someone's interested they can order it from 'em!

You have to call the store that has the game that you want, then give them the address and phone number to the store that you usually shop at. Most of the time this works, kinda depends on the manager.

The website is pretty accurate. The one problem you will run into is that a lot of the people working there will set aside stuff for days at a time so stuff will show up as in stock because technicaly it hasn't been bought yet.

Also, some of the times when you call you will get a employee who wasn't working when a rare game was traded in and they will find it and set it aside for themselves when you ask for it. I called one store once about valkyrie profile right after they opened in the morning and they told me someone that worked at the store was buying it to put on e-bay.. nice eh?
 
For those interested, last time i called this location, they had Valkyrie Profile...it's only the discs (no case or manual) and it costs 49.99...which is probably why it's been in stock for weeks

I called all the Suikoden2's in a 200 mile radius from 3 zip codes...about 8 calls later, not one copy. Some employees mentioned that the site is often incorrect for older games /shrug.

It's definitely worth trying though :) The one Rez that showed in stock, the guy said it was bought today....so I was just a bit late.
 
i found tales of destiny complete in pa but its pretty far where i live. ><

i told to hold it for me :D imma try getting them to transfer the game to gamestop located near me.

i would have to agree, i am sure the inventory search is accurate because thats why i usually find my rare games thru the search even tho i have called and usually the person working there tells me that its a rare game and dont have it but its actually there when i go in...yesterday my gf help me picked up a copy of rez and i did an invent search just now and the inventory of that store shows 0 so im pretty sure its up to date...
 
my local gamestop showed that they had a copy of rez available when i did a zip code search on their website, but when i called they told me that it was on hold for someone. a couple of days later i checked the website again and it still said it was in-stock, so i called again and they said it had sold. i waited a few more days, but for some reason the website was still showing that the game was in-stock, so i decided to call one last time; the guy informed me that the website doesn't update all that often, and that the copy of rez had sold several days prior. i was probably being incredibly annoying, but i... want... REZ!!!

My bet is that they're still holding the game at the store...probably for one of the employees. As far as I can tell, gamestop's web site is _very_ accurate. It's the people at the store that aren't.

Maybe a month back I was looking around for a copy of Disgaea. It showed up as being in-stock at the GS closest to me, so I went over and took a look around and couldn't find it, so I just figured that it had been sold. I was in a hurry, so I didn't talk to anyone about it. So I check a couple days later and it's still on the web site. So I called the store...and of course was told that no, they didn't have it and that the web site is screwy and takes forever to update (or that sometimes it updates and says that they have one in stock when really it's just on it's way, etc...). Ok, fine, whatever...it sounded a little funny, but I believed him. Anyway, a week later a copy shows up as being at another GS close by. I give them a call, and they say they've got it and it's in good condition! So I had them hold it and I rushed over there to get it. Sure enough, it was a complete copy in great shape.

Anyway, the next day I checked the web site to see if it would still show up or not. It was gone. In a day No problems.

Two weeks ago I was in the original GS doing the trade 3/+$10 deal and mentioned what I'd finally found a copy of Disgaea at another GS and the two guys there looked really suprised. Then they went on to say how amazed they were that it even made it to the floor. Then one of them said to the other one: ``Don't we have a copy of that sitting in the drawer here?'' ``Oh yeah, were're holding it for untill he can get some money to pay for it.''

Bah. I just checked and it's gone from that store now...I guess what's his name finally scraped some money together to buy it.
 
^ you're probably right captpete, but i don't really know what i can do about it. did i mention that i REALLY want a copy of rez. damn all you horders who won't hook a fellow cag'er up.

This excuse just irks me every time one of there hoarder employees tells me this. Why is it so hard for them to say it is on hold for someone?

Every single time I have bought a game they only had 1 of it shows up as 0 the very next morning. The inventory updates nightly from all of the stuff that is scaned in and out on the computer.

They just tell you the system is wrong because it sounds better then telling you that someone who works there likes to hoard all of the rare games and put them on e-bay.
 
^ do you think it would make a difference if i called a district manager or the gamestop 800 number? maybe they would call the store and knock some heads together. what do you think?
