Most of the stuff that Gamestop price drops tends to be in line with universal price drops, but because not all of them are, this thread is warranted. Also, if the price of the new item has dropped in price, expect the used item price to similarly follow suit and be $2-$5 less than its new retail price. Sometimes the used version drops first, but both are often around the same time.

Many of these items are sold out in stores since they're old and won't get restocked (Gamestop, after all, tends to make most of its money from selling used games), so you'll have to do a zip code store search for the appropriate title to hopefully find it in your area if you can't buy the item online.

All of this information is presented on the Gamestop website, but because of their new "Price Drop" algorithm, it doesn't really display when new price drops hit. Since I started keeping a running list for current platforms, I figure its easy enough to do a comparison to my lists every week. I generally run the reports once a week on Wednesday mornings, because I've noticed most price drops occur on Monday or Tuesday mornings so I wanted to catch those on the weekly report. If you find price drops sooner than my weekly Wednesday morning report, feel free to post them in the thread so others can get a "head start". I no longer have time to maintain this thread due to my new job but feel free to continue posting Gamestop price drops in this thread or if anyone wants to take over just let me know. Thanks!

Are you playing the 360 or PS3 version?

If its the 360 one try clearing your Cache
PS3, but thanks for the info. As with pretty much any used/display item at EB/GS, the disc had a ton of crud on it. I cleaned it off, but I guess maybe it has a scratch or something. Or my PS3 just doesn't like it. If the other disc doesn't work I'll just return the whole shebang.

just wish Rise of the Argonauts would drop faster. Fun little hack & slash game (though having to run around is a bit tedious) but not worth the full price
Got the dmc4 ce. Gutted, unfortunately. The discs had all sorts of dust and smudges, but it seems like they cleaned up ok.
Quick question, though: The preview images I'd seen of the case shows room for two discs, the game disc and the bonus DVD. The PS3 version I got only has one slot for a disc, the bonus DVD came in a paper sleeve.
Does the 360 version have a two-disc case, or something?
The 360 LE is 3 discs, because the game disc and bonus disc won't fit on 1 disc like the PS3 Blu-Ray will. Inside the tin are the game/bonus disc, the anime disc was in the cardboard sleeve like yours was.

I got the PS3 LE and the game and bonus disc are not on the same disc. The PS3 version also has 3 discs - game disc, bonus disc (in cardboard sleeve), and anime disc (in cardboard sleeve).

Ya a game where you just stand in one place the entire time while hacking & slashing would be much better. ;) JK Sorry, you just gave me an image of a character unable to walk who must fight while hordes of enemies approach from every direction.

I'm talking about running back and forth between the cities and dungeons. Think of a larger Diablo without the teleportation potions

A few on this list have been covered by Josef already, but here are the rest of the drops that occurred within the last week. CoD4: GotY seems to be a permanent drop since the used version also dropped to $35, whereas Halo 3 may be temporary since the used is still at $50. Ubisoft price dropped their entire lines of My Coach, Petz, and Imagine on the DS and there may be a couple decent drops in the PC list.

Thanks espionage!

Is it sad that I am TOTALLY excited for this one?!?

....and Monkey King :wii: still shows as $9.99 new on the website (you have to click on it to see the $4.99 price. My mistake!).

HA. amazing to see vampire rain is still 25 bucks, where as others that were released after it are already dropping to 19.99.

Ubisoft price dropped their entire lines of Petz, and Imagine on the DS.

Shame the word "price" had to be in the above sentence. ;) Dropped by itself sounds so much better, like the following:

Ubisoft dropped their entire lines of Petz, and Imagine on the DS.

So much nicer. :D

well its about time the Atlus 360 games price dropped to match what they've been pretty much everywhere else for months now

might be time for me to rebuy Halo 3 and COD4....
My Japanese Coach $19.99

Now this is the price I been waiting for it to drop to finally pick up.
Ditto, might try to pick up that and Spanish coach.

Also might have to bite on Silent Hill Homecoming used when another PS3 coupon rolls around.

Hey, bash 'em if you like, but I bought 2 of these games when they had the B1G1 free on new Imagine/Petz games for my neice for Christmas and she was thrilled. She got an extra game (her parents were only expecting me to get her one) and I got to look like a generous uncle on the cheap (as I gave her two $29.99, at the time, games for Christmas yet only spent $29.99 total in cheap-ass GS credit). She's obsessed with being a teacher so Imagine Teacher (which has decent reviews) was a must-buy. Then I threw in the Petz Rescue Ocean Patrol game which also had surprisingly good reviews (I was checking them out on my iPhone while in GS ;)).

So, yeah, if you are shopping for 9 year-old girls these games are great. Still, you need to be careful as some of them are way worse than others. I ruled out the Wedding Designer one as well as a few others based on the reviews. But pick the right ones and they make nice gifts. What sucks is that most game review sites ignore these types of games which are precisely the types of games that need reviews! I mean, we don't need 50 reviews of Super Mario Galaxy or Fallout 3, but we DO need reviews for stuff like this we'd never play ourselves - and yet they mostly ignore them (IGN, thankfully, reviewed most of them - so kudos to them).

Though, from what I've seen of them, they just have such a shovelware feel to them, and I'd assume they'd be selling like hotcakes, since they are making more of these lines of games.

Well, part of my point was that while some of these are definitely shovelware, others are actually pretty good. Like everything else in gaming these days, you have to sort through the crap to find the good ones though.

(Edit - Hell, what do I mean "these days"? It was the same when I had my Atari as a kid - only then, we didin't have no Internets to inform us of the crap titles )

Thanks for posting this espionage! Glad to see some of the 360 drops happened before the 20% coupon expires tomorrow. I'll probably have to stop by to pick up some stuff.
well its about time the Atlus 360 games price dropped to match what they've been pretty much everywhere else for months now
I'm interested in picking up Operation Darkness and Spectral Force 3 but I think I'll wait for one more drop. I picked up Zoids Assault from GameFly for $12.99 so I think we will eventually see these 3 games drop into that price range. I would be ok with $19.99 since after you factor in the coupon + Edge, it brings them down into my range (under $15).

Also, in for CoD4 using the coupon and My Japanese Coach, eventually.

Thanks for the info, but don't have any DS games I want to trade at the moment.

I saw Blitz: The League II and TNA Impact for PS3 marked as $19.99 new today in store. The used versions are also going for $17.99 online but the new price still says $39.99.

Strange. I always thought the drops were done on Tuesday.

Either way, I'm happy. I've been wanting Blitz for a while now.
How is the xbl community for this? I am tempted to pick it up, as long as there are people to play with! :)
Pretty much dead... prime time hours you'll get at least half a game with real players, but overall it'll be 2-3 real people and bots. Which are fun, mind you...

I play at least somewhat, if you get it and wanna play, shoot me a request.

Are these price drops permanent? Or will they expire like sales? I'm thinking about buying Halo 3 used for $35 bucks, pretty good deal. Any help would be appreciated.

Tons of price drops for xbox 360, its showing 97 games, Halo 3, Madden 09...I'm still looking through and I'll post a big list (depending on if their website is accurate) later.

mirrors edge - 49.99
dead space - 49.99
turning point - 19.99
warhammer battle march - 39.99

you can never 100% be certain since sometimes Gamestop will have temporary price drops on certain games for only a few weeks at a time before bringing them back up to regular price. but with Halo 3 being out as long as it has, if I were a betting man I'd bet that it's a permanent drop at Gamestop.

If you bought Halo 3 before the price drop, Will GameStop issue you the $20 difference, or should you return it then rebuy it?

they will never give you the price difference back on anything. They don't have a policy for that. you will have to return/rebuy.
