Well some major game guides were super cheap. Unity was $10 and Far Cry 4 was $12.

Maybe. I'm not sure I'll even have success since my area seems to be more on-the-ball with pulling guides on time.

I'm in the same boat... I really want to look... but it's like... the time and gas to get shot down 9/10 times... it hurts.

It totally depends on region. If it was a 30 minute drive to only hit one store... I wouldn't do it.

Depends on how the clerks at a store follow drops and pull guides. Some stores have already pulled. Some may never pull. No way of knowing unless you go to a store and check.

Act surprised and hope he'll still sell them to you. If the guide(s) was/were out on the shelf/display, point that out to the clerk if he seems unsure whether he should sell them to you at that price.

If he does anything to increase the price, politely decline and leave.

If he remains adamant that he can't sell the guides to you, thank him and leave; honestly, this is the most likely scenario, though it depends on your area.

I got AC Unity: CE and FC4: CE from two different stores by finding them on the shelf and playing dumb at checkout. Found 2x Madden, 2x Order 1886, and 1x AC: Rogue in a cardboard box out behind a third store. Now to find SSB.

Are strategy guides like the most wasteful thing ever? It's not like books have a shelf life of a few months. Maybe they should just print them on demand instead of wasting all the paper and ink.

Not possible. This issue just isn't with books. The same applies to food, clothes, essentially everything sold.

Went to several SF Bay Area Peninsula stores over the past 2 days, including San Carlos, Redwood City, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale.

All pulled...not a surprise in the least!  I was still able to get at least 1 of everything (other than Madden, which I didn't want) via other means...

Does anyone's else store have 2 guys in suits hanging around? My store had some guides but I'll wait for those guys to leave bfore I try to get them. They make me uncomfortable.
