Ridley Scott to direct Monopoly - The Movie

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) -
A movie based on the "Monopoly" game is jumping a large number of spaces up the board.

Ridley Scott is officially attached to direct the Hasbro-Universal collaboration, with an eye toward giving it a futuristic sheen along the lines of his iconic "Blade Runner." Screenwriter Pamela Pettler ("Corpse Bride," "Monster House") will shape a narrative out of the iconic real estate game.

"Monopoly" marks the latest Hasbro property looking to pass go and head to the big screen. Board games and branded properties, such as last year's hit "Transformers' adaptation, have become more attractive as studios look to mitigate risk by finding built-in audiences.

Universal is working with Hasbro on several projects as part of a long-term development deal. Additionally, "Transformers" director Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes banner is producing its feature adaptation of "Ouija Board," while the maritime classic "Battleship" also is in development. Elsewhere, Paramount will next summer release a feature based on its "G.I. Joe" character. And "Trivial Pursuit: America Plays" is now airing as a syndicated television game show.

I can't decide which idea is worse: Ridley Scott doing a Monopoly movie styled after Blade Runner or Michael Bay's Ouija Board.

Connect Four would make a kickass movie.
Dude no way. Hungry Hungry Hippos or Yahtzee:cool:

Uve Bowl responded to Michael Bay's Ouija Board movie by announcing he will be making Yahtzee.

It looks like Uve is holding all the dice in this rivalry.

If anyone is going to make a Yahtzee movie, it should be Yahtzee.

In other news, you got a letter, and you got a letter, and you got a letter....

If that hasn't been made into a porn movie, I will lose all faith in porn.

Cheesy yet hilarious. Kudos, sir.
What, no Mr. Bucket movie?
In a world overwrought by crime lords... one man will bring them to justice...

*colored balls roll across a dark hall*

...half-man, half...-bucket...

*cue smoky entrance*

"I'm Mr. Bucket, and I'm buckets of fun."

*Mr. Bucket rips off a crime lord's balls and puts them in the top of his cyborg head*

"This is the part where your balls come out of my mouth, mother-f_cker."

*Mr. Bucket fires said balls into the crime lord's skull*

...Coming Fall 2012!
As long as they don't try and make it serious it has potential to be a cult classic lol
Ridley Scott. Comedy.

What doesn't fit?

This movie could be good, if it's Blade Runner-esque and deals with corporate greed and corruption or something. Don't know why the heck you would want to associate it with the board game, though.

The only way this movie could be good, is if it's done in the same way I play the game. Which is silver dog humping the shit out of everything.

"Okay, you can stop making your dog hump my motel and just roll the damn dice."

"I wish I could tell you that the Monopoly guy fought the good fight and the system let him be. I wish I could tell you that, but prison is no fairy tale world."

The Wikipedia entry says it all:

" Ridley Scott announced that he was directing a comedy-thriller based on the game, featuring a variety of young actors to generate interest in the game. Scarlett Johannson and Kirsten Dunst have been considered so far."

It's a comedy-thriller??? What's the thriller part? Does Kirsten Dunst go on a murderous insane rampage after being denied the thimble?

The Mr Bucket movie would be rated R. The balls pop out of his mouth.
I've never used a Ouija Board before, so I can't say for sure, but I'm fairly certain it doesn't involve any explosions...
No, but it might involve shitting and/or pissing your pants. Seriously, those things are creepy.

You got the wrong press release, Uwe Boll is set to direct Mr. Potato head the movie.:D;)
And the Oscar goes to Ben Kingsley in Monopoly.
 I would laugh my ass off if that really happened. Seriously. That would be a bigger controversey than "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" winning the Oscar, because that only pissed off some people.
