Yeah, Kurau definitely has to be one of the anime you purchase.

I like FMP: Fumoffu, but I don't know if The Coyote Ragtime Show is any good. Any other three disc sets that interest you?

I haven't seen it yet, but the 6th volume is out of stock and will probably be hard to find/expensive. I'd say wait for one of RightStuf's Funimation sales and pick up the Complete Series set for Welcome To The NHK, which is what I plan on doing.

I guess I should have checked back before ordering. I didn't notice the whole Volume 6 business... In any case, I placed 2 orders. I already have a few sporadic volumes of some of these so the rest is to fill in the collection. AMG s2 I have v1, v2 + box already and the rest of them are hard to find elsewhere for a good price. I already own Tsubasa v.5 courtesy of Big Lots, Gravitation v1+box from another of these RightStuf sales from 2 years ago, etc. I spent $173 altogether and am rather happy about that.

I just looked through the whole list, and all I could find were four noteworthy movies.

  • Appleseed
  • Origin: Spirits of the Past
  • Vexille
I have only seen Air: The Movie and Vexille. Air: The Movie was really good; I enjoyed it as much as the anime, which is to say, I loved it, haha. Vexille was good; some the movie was a bit lacking, but there were enough good parts to keep me interested.

I haven't seen either, but from what I've heard from other CAGs, both are great. Does anyone know the difference (if any) between the two versions of ROD OVA on Rightstuf?

Neither of the two versions of the R.O.D. OVA are part of the sale.

I already own the movie itself but I wanted to get the Lunchbox version and maybe give one of the movie DVDs to a friend or something... The Cutie Honey TV series is indeed awesome. That probably has as much of a chance as Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon does of getting released here. Maybe Cutie Honey TV has the edge since the movie was already released even if Sailor Moon is more well known/popular overall. Sailor Moon rights are all tied up and a pain. I would really LOVE to see the Sailor Moon anime remasters get released here as well as PGSM and then some.
 
Looked through the sale and the only thing I want and don't have is the 2nd volume of Jojo's. If anyone has space/is looking to fill out an order, I'd be happy to pay cost plus shipping for it.

Having said that I can point out a couple of things, Jubei 2 is amazing. 009-1 is also an excellent show that I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned picking up. New Getter Robo is also an excellent show especially if you're a REAL MAN (tm).

I'm not one for the moe and Le Chevalier D'Eon bored me to tears with its lack of anything happening for the majority of the show. Shame too as the premise from the first episode or two hit very well with me.

I am really, really, really lamenting that I didn't keep updated and missed out on Gunslinger Girl with the artbox, but I was just stressing too much over what I need to get from the deep discount sale. At least I can get the three viridian DVD's for a good price, though along with Trigun (excellent deal hard to find elsewhere) I'll be wishing I had spare artboxes for storage sakes, and I would've liked to get Chobits as well but then I'd have to fill it out to 25 AND hunt down the fifth volume. I need 1 more item though, any suggestions, preferably Gainax-ish.

And, being that I didn't keep up in this thread as I should've I'll make this brief: Six pages or so ago I wasn't saying there was much similar between Ai Yori Aoshi and Love Hina as a whole, just that their characters were dull and evoked little to no sympathy from me, despite being enticed by the characters' designs themselves. It's hard for me to root for a sheltered little girl throwing herself at her childhood crush who worked so hard to detach himself from his past and lineage, if I remember right.

I've been wanting to get that for a while. I might bite on it... I just haven't have time to check out the sale so don't even know if theres anything else I'd want... I mean, $20 for a series I want saves more than $50 for a mixed bag of stuff I may or may not really want.

The first season of Ah! My Goddess can be had for $30 during the DeepDiscount sale. Jubei-chan is eternally $30 at RightStuf, sometimes cheaper during a Bandai sale (one just ended recently).

Closest one to me is an hour away, i actually had a nice CAG get them for me, and i paid cost + shipping + thank-you fees.

You guys see any new additions to the sale since it's started? They said they might add more, but i haven't seen anything so far.

Don't try too hard. Big Lots anime stock is wildly inconsistent.

So I'm finally getting a chance to check out the sale. It's a little disappointing to see that most everything is from the bargain bin... Though I do see some stuff I wanted anyway. I was thinking about getting the 10 for $25 deal, but just 009-1 and Air Gear would just about fill that up....

Hmmm, I'm disappointed that they don't have all of Fumofu. And Chrono Crusade, for that matter, but I'm hoping the Holiday collection goes on sale for that...

For me, Fushigi Yuugi was like watching a train wreck... "Holy crap, how can she be so dumb- it's a thunder attack! Put down the metal sword, you twit! What's wrong with these people, this is terrible... oh, volume's over. Where's the next one?" It's not bad- but you're probably going to hate at least 2 or 3 of the main cast.:D

I still don't even know why they made a "holiday" collection unless it's supposed to be some sort of apology for the extra-less thinpak, but I know I want it for less than than the $67 they have it for right now too.

So I was just going to get 10 for 50, but then Gunslinger Girl vol 3 went out of stock and I noticed all of Pani Poni Dash w/artbox (I'm a sucker for studio SHAFT), so I filled out 25:
Pani Poni Dash 1-6 w/artbox
Magikano 1-3 w/artbox

UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie S1 1-3, S2 1-3, OVA
Gravion Zwei complete thinpak (no extras, but still a value)

Welcome to the NHK vol 2 w/artbox (mostly just for the artbox, but the dvd cover's so pretty)

Also picked up the Trinity Blood complete collection for a measly $30, the same value you'd get if you put it in 10 for 50, except it's not viridian, comes with a box, and also has some neat booklet I heard. I feel bad for the Fry's employee I was talkin to who paid almost triple the price for it.

It's true that a couple of the main characters are clinically retarded, but the show itself is still highly entertaining and compelling. It may also be one of the best entries in the "Japanese students get drawn into another world" genre. Anime melodrama has never been so fun. Just stay away from the OVAs.
 
:\ So after combing the list, I have 34 things I really want. I could probably boost it up for 50 if I throw in some incomplete collections they have on there. Read or Die TV would definitely be one of them, but i'm not sure on hunting down a copy of vol 1 yet. Unless I get the UMD and manage without episode 3...

So guys beyond the cringing Kirin's about to do for me even asking, any comments on Desert Punk,
Miami Guns, Najica Blitz Tactics, Soultaker, and Tokyo Underground? I have Desert Punk v1 lying around somewhere so I'm probably going to give that a quick watch to decide if I should get the rest. Najica, i saw a trailor for and it entertained me (hehe) and Miami Guns looks like more of the same. Soultaker and Tokyo Underground just sorta interested me from the descriptions.

If I remember right, someone on CAG thought Miami Guns was hilarious (was it Guile?). I haven't heard much about it though.

Tried to add Trigun to my most recent order for $25 more, but of course "it shipped out today." My first order hasn't even shipped yet. What bullshit. I could add it to the first order, but it would cost me more... Oh well.
 
I didn't think Desert Punk was "awesome", but it was sufficiently good for essentially an action anime, and had a least a few laugh out loud moments mostly having to do with lewd bits (i.e. the cursed stone). The dub's good, the animation's good, and the extras were good, but it wasn't monumental aside from an extremely fitting ending to the series.
