Rock Band SE for Xbox 360 $69.99 @ Best Buy YMMV

chubbyninja1319

CAGiversary!
I saw this at the Utica, MI store today. The tag clearly said $69.99 for the whole bundle.

The PS3 version was still $169.99, as was the Wii version, I believe. They had a lot of the 360 version.

I almost bought one, but didn't. I guess I should've asked a clerk to confirm. Most likely a YMMV deal.

Isn't there a Dunder Mifflin branch in Utica?

I would have been on that deal in an instant. I already own it, but resale value is much higher than $70.

I'll be there at open tomorrow. I hate that best buy though. I will have to prepare for a street fight in order to get out the door with one on sale.

That would be Utica, NY. ;)

Ah, I didn't know there was more than one. I should have known this, considering I watched all 64 episodes this summer. I love it soooo much. I can't wait until September 25th at 9PM. Wooo.

Back to the topic though... it would almost be worth driving up from Dayton, OH. Almost...

Eh? if you didnt pick one up then something is up with that. Everyone knows you can make some profit if you bought it at that price.
I mean you could take the instruments to EB and still make profit off that buy.
They only accept guitar controllers, so you would be stuck with the drums.
soudns like a price error to me. Or you saw the drums, which are 69..
This is very true. I'm thinking they were just the drums.

Honestly, I'm kinda surprised these haven't dropped in a lot of stores. Maybe not so much Best Buy...but at Wal-Marts, Blockbusters, etc. Those bundles take up a TON of floor space, and I'm wondering at what point the stores are going to decide "the hell with it" and just start hacking prices. Wait till GHWT and RB2 come out. It's going to be ridiculous the amount of gigantic boxes on display.

Even GameStops aren't big enough to accomodate all this crap. I already get a kick out of all the used guitar peripherals (and occasional drumsets) I see in my local stores. It looks like freakin Guitar Center in there! There just has to be a breaking point where they say "NO MORE!!!"
That's extremely likely.
Even if it was, the law in Michigan states they have to sell it to you at the price that's on the product, so a sign was placed on the product it would go for 69.99

That's not true.

"A store may not knowingly charge or attempt to charge a price higher than the price marked on the item. MCL 445.354. Therefore, the consumer may have a claim if the store will not sell the item at the price marked. However, the consumer may face obstacles convincing a court that the store knowingly charged the higher price when the pricing mistake is not intentional..."

However, if someone purchases something in Michigan and is overcharged, and they do not notice it until after the transaction, they are entitled to the Michigan Scanner award which refunds the difference as well as a bonus amount based on the overage charged.

A) Not fake, I swear.
B) Didn't get one cuz i'm a Guitar Hero guy and $ is tight.
C) Didn't get one to sell cuz I'm just too lazy and I don't feel like going through the trouble of selling
D) I thougth the tag may be for the drums, but it wasn't. I triple checked.
E) I think it might be a price error and they dropped the 1 in $169.
F) Good luck to anyone who gets it. I hope I didn't send anyone on a wild goose chase. :)

No, trust me, I work retail in Michigan.. Michigan Law says 1. Items must all carry a price tag ( with exceptions). 2. It's the law they have to charge the price marked on the item.

However, if an item is sitting on a wrong rack, or wrong shelf peg, and the incorrect price isn't marked on the item, then they don't have to

  • Section 445.353: Stamping or affixing total price of consumer item; exemptions; lists and signs for classes of items or individual items, "item" defined.
    1. The total price of a consumer item displayed or offered for sale at retail shall be clearly and conspicuously indicated in arabic numerals, so as to be readable and understandable by visual inspection, and shall be stamped upon or affixed to the consumer item. If the consumer item is in a package or container, the total price shall be stamped upon or affixed to the outside surface of the package or container and need not be placed directly upon the consumer item.
    2. The requirements of subsection (1) shall not apply to:
      1. A consumer item sold by weight or volume which is not in a package or container.
      2. A consumer item sold in a coin operated vending machine.
      3. Prepared food intended for immediate consumption, as defined in section 4g of Act No. 167 of the Public Acts of 1933, being section 205.54g of the Michigan Compiled Laws.
      4. A consumer item purchased by mail or through catalog order, or which is not otherwise visible for inspection by the consumer at the time of the sale, and which is ordered or requested by the consumer, if the price of the item is on the consumer's written order or request or on a bill, invoice, or other notice which describes or names the item and which is enclosed with the item.
      5. An unpackaged food item.
      6. A consumer item which has a total weight of not more than 3 ounces, a total volume of not more than 3 cubic inches, and a total price of not more than 30 cents.
      7. Live plants.
      8. Live animals.
      9. Motor vehicles.
      10. Motor vehicle parts.
      11. Packages of 20 or fewer cigarettes.
      12. Greeting cards sold individually which have a readable coded price on the back of the card.
      13. Merchandise ordered as a gift by a consumer which is sent by mail or other delivery service to a person other than the consumer by the retailer at the request of the consumer.
    3. In addition to the exemptions allowed in subsection (2), a retailer may choose to not individually price mark not more than 25 classes of items or individual items which classes or items shall be listed and posted in a conspicuous place in the retail store, and may choose to not individually price mark not more than 25 additional classes of items or individual items which are advertised or featured at a reduced price.
    4. The price and the name or description of a class of items or individual items not marked pursuant to subsection (3) shall be indicated by a clear, readable, and conspicuous sign in immediate conjunction with the area in which the unmarked item or class of items is displayed.
    5. As used in subsections (3) and (4), "item", except as otherwise provided in this subsection, means 1 or more identical articles, sold in identical quantities or measures. An item may include more than 1 product, brand, kind, size, or type of packaging, if they are packaged together and sold as a set and the sets are identical in all respects, including quantity or measure.
  • §4: Section 445.354: Charging more or less than price indicated; evidence of violation.
    1. A person shall not knowingly charge or attempt to charge for a consumer item a retail sale price exceeding the price required to be indicated pursuant to section 3. It shall not be construed to be a violation of this act to charge for a consumer item a total price less than the price required to be indicated pursuant to section 3.
    2. It shall be prima facie evidence of a violation of this section if a price charged or attempted to be charged as a result of electronic identification or calculation by an automatic checkout system exceeds the price required to be indicated pursuant to section 3.

I am going to have to stop by this week when I visit my friend out there. I just might have more plastic music equipment taking up space.

You're telling me. I work at a Wal-Mart, half of our backroom bins are filled with Rock Band crap. We got an entire three palettes full of Wii Rock Band (apparently our store anticipated a huge demand for it).

That's the only reason I could see this happening, should have taken advantage of this.

I'm hoping that I can get the RB drumset for the 360 on the way cheap when the new games come out. So far, for 2 guitars, a mic and the game I've spent less than $75. Too bad this kind of stuff is never on clearance on Long Island. :/

Trust me, wait for the RB2 set. Or the GHWT set if it's compatible w/ Rock Band.

That's what I'm waiting for. Flipping a decent chunk of my GS credit to BBV credit and going to buy one from BBV. Unfortunately, aside from GHWT people saying that the RB1 drums are going to be compatible with GHWT, they haven't talked much about compatibility (mainly with RB2 drums) and Harmonix isn't saying squat about GHWT compatibility with their stuff and the time draws ever closer.

All I saw in your "spoiler tags" was Michigan defining what must be marked but no where does it boldly state that a retailer must honor the marked price. I too work retail in Michigan (unfortunately) and we never honor when it's mispriced unless we are only loosing a dollar or two. I'm sure we are supposed to, but we have never faced any legal penalties for not doing so. Now, the person can get the difference refunded after the transaction (plus the Michigan scanner award) but most people are unaware that fact. But going up to the counter and demanding us to honor the price marked will get you nowhere. We have refused people time and again, still with no legal penalties. What Michigan law states and what retailers abide by are two different things.

This right here, it basically says all items must be marked, and you can't charge more then the price marked

A person shall not knowingly charge or attempt to charge for a consumer item a retail sale price exceeding the price required to be indicated pursuant to section 3. It shall not be construed to be a violation of this act to charge for a consumer item a total price less than the price required to be indicated pursuant to section 3.

Anyone go to this BB to pick one up? I am heading that way for a meeting later today(8/11/08) and want to pick one up if this is legit...

I just called Best Buy about 5 minutes before they closed and the girl working said that they had the bundle for $99.99 for the Xbox 360. I don't really know if this is accurate though as I asked her to confirm the SKU and she gave me 8944869 which is actually the SKU for the Rock Band 2 Wireless Drum Kit. I will call again tomorrow to confirm, hopefully with someone who knows what's going on.

Take care,

Wyatt

That conversation was comically useless.

No offense, I just got a good laugh from it.
