Salty I need to re-do my profile in CAG4.0
As the original deal morphed into a game deal and guitar advice thread, I decided to place the original BB deal behind spoiler tags for a reference point. And I listed the current deals below. The guitar purchase is the most difficult part for us beginners, so read the advice in the thread

Too busy to read the entire thread? Then try these following posts for the guitar advice. Thanks to SmileyMcSmiles for all the help :applause:

Guitar+Bass Version*****

Original Version*****

Original DEAL behind this Spoiler
Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

I'll let the musician CAGs speak to the quality of the guitar;)

UPDATE: Bestbuy finally got the site updated with the offer.
Link Dead
Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

UPDATE #2: deal is definitely an in-store bundle of standalone guitar + game bundle. Guitar is an Epiphone LP jr with a cherryburst finish and no strap or picks are included. Asked about substituting a different guitar model but bundle price won't activate if you switch it out
What's the fun in paying for RB DLC? I never understood that. Don't get me wrong I had my fair share of fun with the RB/GH games back in the day but I can't imagine paying money for individual add-on tracks just to tap away on a plastic instrument. Cake came to the right place, a game where you can actually learn the music.
It seems silly now, especially for guitar, but for keyboards, drums, and vocals that's the only interactive music game available.

I've bought plenty of rock band dlc for the drum or vocal tracks. I don't have any regrets about it. Makes Me Wonder by Maroon 5 is my goto drum song, it's a ton of fun to play.

Just in case anyone missed the other thread...

Bandfuse down to $10 @ Gamestop

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/331368-bandfuse-rock-legends-ps3360-999-new-gamestop/

And if interested, saw that my local TRU put some Casio and Yamaha keyboards on their clearance sale, BrownTagged.  Prices ranged from 80-120, prior to the % discount.

Also saw another First Act guitar, this time a SSS strat.  Same as before; BrownTagged @ $40 so after the discount it came out to 16

I bought a copy of Bandfuse for 360 when it dropped to $30 a while back.  The box is still sealed, but I've been meaning to try it out with my new bass.  For $10, I may pick up a second copy just to have a spare cable.  Thanks for sharing!

Picked up a $10 Bandfuse from GS over the weekend.  Overall I like it and it's making me think more tab-like.  It's a bit of a hurdle if you're used to Rocksmith (finger vs string colors and tabs vs the highway).  The thing that frustrates me the most is the legends videos.  I'm going in for tips and instruction, but there's really none of that.  They're sitting there with tens of thousands of dollars worth of gear and a lifetime of experience and all we get is to watch them riff for a bit at a million miles an hour.  Yeah, looks easy, thanks!  :wall:  If you've ever checked out any of Dan Donegan's vidoes, you'll see things far more helpful.

It's still a good deal @ $10 for the new songs to learn and the different interface to stretch your brain.

Ordered a ROC-N-SOC Nitro Throne seat along with a backrest. Was tired of trying to play on the couch. :)

Congrats  .

I can't get comfortable playing while I sit.

Bigger problem is that Mario Kart 8 is eating up ALL my playtime :joystick:

D'Oh...Guess I should update the

New DLC Day!!!

5 songs from Sum 41

- Fat Lip

- In Too Deep

- Still Waiting

- We're all to Blame

- You're a Lie

Songs available individually or in a 5-song pack.

I can go for a couple, but will probably wait for a sale

How much did that cost you?

$170 for the seat and $46 for the backrest. Great reviews - comfortable, won't slide down even though locked, and durable.

New DLC this week:

Bill Withers – Ain’t No Sunshine
James Gang – Funk 49
Roy Buchanan – Sweet Dreams

Who's going to pay $3 a song for this? They better start some sales soon.

I bought 2 of the 3. Not a fan of Withers.

The Roy Buchanan song is incredible... Difficulty-wise, it's like a country version of Cliffs of Dover. The country techniques are so good, though, that it's worth the purchase...

Funk #49... Awesome.

Ain't No Sunshine sucks. Some guy put it on repeat on the shuttle every day for a month. Awful rides. It gets awful after the first five "I know" and it keeps going. I didn't think anyone would ever put it on repeat.

Ain’t No Sunshine and Funk 49 are going to be a pass for me. As for Roy Buchanan, I looked it up and it's pretty decent. Don't know if I'll buy before a sale or not

Crazed, I meant to have mention this song to  you  the other day when it was official that it was going to be released but I held my tongue. Cool to see that you liked it knowing that you been waiting for this type of genre.  I guess now we can consider this to be the first country song release by Rocksmith? Maybe more might come your way.

Yeah - definitely country. Also definitely not traditional. :) I like it a lot, though.

Honestly, I'm not sure I care if RS adds any current country to the game. I get all the current country that I want from SSC. I doubt that having it in Rocksmith would help me learn any quicker. I memorize much quicker from the SSC website than I do from Rocksmith and I can improvise/change solos better because of how I learn the stuff.

Updated OP & Title with both of this info.

So, I'm still catching up on E3 news, but was there anything about Rocksmith?

Guessing no, since they kept releasing DLC upto and thru E3.

Setting up a second ps3 in my house. Trying to download all of my DLC onto this machine. Do I really have to download each song one at a time? What a pain...

I wish you could transfer your dlc licenses from xbox to ps3...getting ready to finish up my 360 games and sell it to get an xbone for halo, no reason to keep the 360 with the halo collection in the pipeline...or maybe they could come out with a next gen version of rocksmith (in my dreams right).

EDIT: Forgot to post that Best Buy has RS2014 for $40 as well. Check OP

Godsmack this week... A 5 pack. Ugh...

Very cool and yet I'm trying to find ways to cut down on visual aids; cut the cord, if you will, from screens

It's the ONLY way you'll ever really learn. I record myself on my iPod and play it back. I record myself on my computer through the HD500 and play it back. I play along with it when I'm playing it back and stop at places that I missed to work out why I missed it and what I can do differently and then record it again. I lay the backing track down in my guitar software and play the song in one take and play it back... Seriously - just "cutting the cord" and playing (and recording) the shit out of the guitar has helped me tremendously.

Now I just have to find a band to play with. :) I had found a current country group on Bandmix, but then they moved their home base like 35 miles further away and I wasn't going to drive that all the time. I don't know. Eventually, it'll happen. Until then, I record and play it back, record and play it back, record and...

Since nobody's mentioned it yet, all the DLC for both RS titles are currently 25% off on the Steam Summer Sale.  Hoping they get a daily deal, but not holding my breath.  Discount looks to be good until the end of the sale.

Flash sale for RS2014 now $14.99.  DLC still @ 25% off.  No discount on the disc import tool.  You have under 4 hours to get this discount until the next time.  Enjoy.

Of all weeks to not have any money to blow on things I don't need. I love the look of that ESP in the wood finish.

Time to let your fingers do the surfing for this weeks

New DLC Day!!!

-Misirlou by Dick Dale

-Walk Don't Run by The Ventures

-Wipe Out by The Surfaris

Oh look, there's more of my money floating away... Aloha!

Anyone wondering where the bass deals are, better pay attention to this sale. They don't come around too often.

If I wasn't set for bass, I'd jump on the Yamaha. I remember stalking the 5-string model on Amazon, hoping it would drop down to 150 (never made it past 180).

The ESP that Sp00ge mentioned is pretty cool too.

The 5 string Yamaha is on sale for $199, too.

Looking thru the MF sale a bit and saw the Epiphone Wilshire on sale for $200

I got the alpine white model a couple years back. Really nice guitar that usually doesn't drop below 250: set neck, all mahogany, dual pickups, push/pull pots for the coil-tapped pickups. Think of it like an SG with better balance and looks :p

And if you're coming from the Epi Les Paul Jr, then you should find the neck verrry familiar. I guess that can be a good or bad thing

Yeah, I noticed ;) . Good thing I'm set for now (also helps that it's sold out).

I cranked up the little 5W Kustom Tube amp I got from MF a while back for $50 when my kid and wife were in West VA... That thing cranks! It's seriously loud...

I have been messing with recording some acoustic songs (to hone my guitar playing/singing skills). That's going pretty well. It's amazing how easily you can do that once you're completely familiar with the song...

Picking up the surf pack this week. Good to see some well known songs in different genres. I have bought almost 0 RS2014 DLC. It just hasn't been to my liking. I figure we'll get Tom Petty around the July 29th release of "Hypnotic Eye"... If I'm REALLY lucky, next week's DLC will tie in with Seether's new album. :)

Still not buying any guitars, I don't care how good the deals are. :) Unless Fenders go to 75% off. Then it's on like Donkey Kong.

That's all the random thoughts I have for the night...

Yeah, I have the head & cabinet twin to your combo unit. And it's great for indoor practice.

And still a little pissed that there was never a Jaguar deal near me. Tempted to grab one of the thinline Jags that are on sale, but NOPE... not gunna do it.

Actually, that Jag is bittersweet, as I passed up a Fender 30W Tube amp at $327 to buy it, and the amp was gone the next time I had money to blow.

Gonna get the surf pack. Nice that it's being offered as a pack even though it's different artists.

Anybody else notice that the bass expansion is in the 2014 shop? Doesn't 2014 come with bass anyway. I know I've played a bunch of bass on it, but I also imported the songs from the original game

All 40 were asked? Hendrix and the dead Beatles at a seance? There must have been a lot of smoke involved.
