Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

I'll let the musician CAGs speak to the quality of the guitar;)

Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

UPDATE #2: deal is definitely an in-store bundle of standalone guitar + game bundle. Guitar is an Epiphone LP jr with a cherryburst finish and no strap or picks are included. Asked about substituting a different guitar model but bundle price won't activate if you switch it out

Went to the musicians expo...feel like I paid 20 bucks to enter a supersized guitar center, guess I shouldnt be surprised given it was hosted by them. Best deal was 100 off limited color choices for mim starts :( I actually went hoping to score a decent drum e-kit at a discount but Roland didn't want to give any out, just a free battery pack or something...not that drum kits are exactly portable in the first place. I like the new mystic blue and red fender colors though, very sparkly metallic colors that fade into darker shades pike their midnight colors.

Sorta reminds me of some mega-vendor sale at the Shrine maaany years ago. Turned out to be a bunch of swap-meet sellers and a few mom&pop shops who were overpricing most things

I have been interested in learning the guitar for a while now, also the piano, but that is not really related. I think I may pick this up and just steal one of my brothers guitars which they do not even use anymore.

Too bad they don't have other string types. Coulda gone for some flats and half-wounds to go with those rounds. Get a bit of variety

That was like half off or something right? There's still a ton of low-mid end stuff in multiple Best Buys around me that are 30-35% off, just waiting for one more price drop to the fire sale levels late last year before I snag a bunch of stuff. If the MI section closes down before that happens though I don't feel like I'm missing out on too much.

It was 367.99. I've seen it lower - hello music had it in their daily deals for 349 after coupon code and shipping, but the deal went away before I had the cash.

The deals they have now aren't so great, but the guy last night said he thought they would shut the mi store down soon. If the prices got down to last Novembers prices, I'd probably scratch up the cash to get a couple more Fenders. Otherwise, not so much.

I switch it up every now and then to keep things fresh. But gotta say that there are some songs where it feels more like I'm "button-mashing" than playing bass.
Probably just my noobness showing:p

And yeah, HC forum usually has a good deals thread. You could also try slickdeals and search for guitar. Keep an eye out for threads by LinuxCrew; he tends to find the better deals.

Aside from that, ya gotta check individual sites: musiciansfriend, guitarcenter, music123, worldmusicsupply, americanmusical, hellomusic, goingtoday. It's just that deals have been poor since the new year.:cry:
Shame since I remember finding stuff throughout all of last year; Hellomusic being the biggest letdown from a year ago, for me anyway.

They'll come stringed - and probably close enough to tune with RS and go.

Eventually, it's nice to get a music store to set it up and get new strings on it, the action set, etc... but it's more important to just start playing a bit.
 
I jumped on 2 copies for the $25 each. REALLY bummed that its in store only and its a bit of a trip for me. But I say its worth it. Always kind of regretted not getting it when it was $30 on Amazon. Price on both the game and cable have stayed pretty solid. I figured I'm best off picking up the cable and game bundle seeing how expensive an extra cable goes for.

Never owned or purchased a guitar besides the Rock Band Squier. Thing is I play Lefty, so I find it hard to come across entry level left handed bass guitars. Seems like such an oddity. :/

Any links pointing me in the right direction is helpful. :D

Should be fine to start.
But wouldn't hurt to google "string changes" and "intonation". It'll come in handy down the road;) Plus you never know if a string breaks in shipping

Rondomusic is really the only place I've come across that has reasonable prices for anything LEFTY. Here are their lefty bass guitars:

I can't seem to find the holiday pack in the store. But I think they are actually on the disc. I'm not sure.

I'm wondering about the packs listed on wikipedia. I only see packs that are of the same artist. Also what happened to that massive 15 song pack or whatever. I remember seeing it around when the bass upgrade came out.

Besides that, have Rocksmith songs ever been discounted on consoles?

You an find the holiday pack on the Rocksmith Complete track listing. It's closer to the bottom, right next to the Megadeth pack. Or, yes it can be found in-game as well.

As far as the packs go, they are only a "pack" (i.e. discounted) if they are 3 or more songs by the same artist. This had me confused for a while too because if you look at the Rocksmith website it groups songs together in threes and names them. It's too bad they don't bother to discount them. The 15 or so song mega bundles were limited time sales. I personally disliked the way they chose to do it since I already had songs from each bundle, rendering any discount null.

And other than the mega packs I've never seen a sale on Xbox for sure and I don't think on ps3 since last January at least. It seems like the only way to get a discount is to buy points on sale. I found a 4000 point card for ~$39 and bought a bunch of packs. I've been mostly happy with my dlc purchases.
 
Returned the Line 6 HD500 to my local store. Tones were great, but I figured I could justify the HD300 better price wise... Walked in on a whim yesterday and the had the HD500 I had brought back out on the shelf as an open box for about 60 bucks less. Went from a $367 purchase to a $302 purchase. I bought the damn thing back :)
 
So... Not that I am in for abusing BBs policies... but it looks like your Shopkick points don't go away when you return something to BB, either... So, there ya go.
 
So I'm visiting Phoenix today and one of their Best Buys has a music dept. and has a Telecaster I'm interested in as an open box. Anybody have experience/success haggling with them on price? Crazedracerguy maybe?
 
Hmmm... No, not really. I lobbied for an open box discount on the HD500 last week, but couldn't get one - even with a destroyed box. Of course, I got one later when I returned it to the store here and rebought it...

Seems to me the game wont hold up much to the hype. Mainly the tab interface. When slash with decades of experiance finds it difficult to play his own song does not bode well. That and the epic fail of their kickstarter shows there probally is not a lot of interest in it. At least its coming for ps3 now so I will probally get it.
 
Anybody else have experience with the BB clearance?

And as far as Bandfuse is concerned, I get excited again when I hear about it. I keep forgetting all about it though. I love Rocksmith, but it's certainly not without its faults. Could be good to try something new. Or maybe the competition could spark an improved Rocksmith 2
 
I'll be excited to have another console option for playing my guitars. It'll be a day one purchase for me - if it ever actually sees the light of day.

jsivley - was the one that you were looking at an American Tele in Natural? That is one fine looking Tele... I peeped a look at the clearance around Phoenix ;)
 
Yeah, that was the one. The point is moot now, however. I just left there and they didn't have it. Had no idea what I was talking about. Apparently it was some sort of inventory/web site/incompetence issue. I was getting so excited on the drive up. Luckily I am in Phoenix for a show anyway and the store wasn't TOO far out of the way.

Well, interested but it sure hasn't shown itself to be impressive. Kinda feel the same way as when Ubi first announced Rocksmith... Thought it interesting and forgot all about it until I saw the deal at Bestbuy. That's when I researched it and thought it was worth a buy.

At least RS turned out to be the best (and most expensive) damn gaming purchase I've ever made, warts and all.

What I really want is RS 2.0; doubt it happens before the nextbox/ps4 release. There's only so much that patches can fix before it becomes better to just release a whole new version
 
Bandfuse as much as they say is for beginners. With just a bunch of colored numbers scrolling on the bottom of the screen
If you already know tabs great. Looks like a confusing mess to someone who is completely new.

Looked on n4g and pulled up 10 articles in the past year. Even the official site barely gets updated. For something that is supposed to be released any time now that's not a good sign. Developers of rocksmith sure had to beg and borrow plead to get it released and it shows.

I will get it as mainly for a fresh set of songs. I know its what killed guitar hero but I wish they would release a expansion pack with some big name artists.


+1 To the best and most expensive game I ever bought. Got like 10 games i have not even opened since I got rocksmith. Now if only I could trade/sell some of my guitars to justify getting a really nice one that I want to get.

I am guessing you already tried to give them the sku to look it up. Going by what crazedracerguy has posted in the past. That gutar could be anywhere in that store maybe still in its box stored somewhere.
 
Yeah - finding a good salesperson got me that 60's Classic Strat. When it wasn't on the wall, he hunted it down for me. Usually, the back stocked guitars are on the shelf somewhere around the music instruments shop. You may be able to see well enough to find it if it's there.

And Drastion - you have a nice selection of axes...
