Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

I'll let the musician CAGs speak to the quality of the guitar

Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

UPDATE #2: deal is definitely an in-store bundle of standalone guitar + game bundle. Guitar is an Epiphone LP jr with a cherryburst finish and no strap or picks are included. Asked about substituting a different guitar model but bundle price won't activate if you switch it out

Haven't had a chance to try it out yet but the guitar is actually quite nice looking for a relatively inexpensive guitar. Also, I talked to my friend who works at Sam's Club and he says any clearance ending in $xx.x1 should be corporate and therefore fairly universal.

My new baby sitting next to my much neglected Laguna I picked up on CL some time ago.

Kinda hard to tell from a picture but the grain does show through the finish.

Glad to hear it's optional. I do not have and do not want a Kinect, but I'll admit, voice commands for Rocksmith menu navigation would probably work pretty well. It is a bit clumsy to have to pick up a controller between songs.

+1. Honestly thought it was running on the XB1 considering how well it was responding to voice commands. A bit disappointed in no WiiU version, but at least I won't hafta rebuy my DLC.

And "cable only" deals are pretty rare. Best to get one of the 360/ps3 versions on the cheap to have an extra cable. The old version of RS (aka the one without Bass content) got as low as $10-20, though couldn't tell ya if there are still any copies out there.

LOL... I always seem to find extra cases, too. I also have 3 brand new Fender gig bags stuffed in a corner downstairs. I think it has to do with the frequency with which I buy and sell guitars

I still have 1 to get rid of - an ESP LTD Viper 330... If I ever sell it. I'll probably grab another Fender. Big surprise there, I know.

That's a great deal for that bundle. I'd probably grab one at that price if I found it. I used to have one of the LP Special II's in Red. I sold that, too.

That's what I paid for mine. It's a nice guitar. I just don't play much heavy stuff, so the jumbo frets are lost on me. That, and the influx of Fenders due to the Best Buy thing made this guitar the odd man out.

It downloaded & runs just fine on my laptop. I always go straight to Steam, so no idea what the Amazon downloader would do. My Sam's had 5 of the 360 bundles, but 0 for PS3, so no new guitar for me. They did have the updated PS3 package with the Bass expansion & cable for $28, so I picked that up instead. Anybody want a good deal on a gently used original guitar-only PS3 disc? \ :D/

Another local Sam's Club had multiple copies of the new guitar bundle for both systems, now $59.81. Incredible price. They also had tons of copies of the first version of the game for $14.81, and the new version with bass for $19.81. Literally several dozen copies, for both systems, both versions. They must have cleared out the stockroom. Great prices if you're looking for a spare cable. Or, you know, a cheap guitar!

There are a few things I've been wondering about RS 2014. I know dlc is going to transfer, but how bout the original songs. Didn't the Rock Band games have some sort of unlock option for like $10 that would make all old song work with new versions?

I also want to know if Cherub Rock will be available for purchase or only as a preorder bonus. That will probably be the deciding factor on whether I preorder or wait for a sale. Oh why'd it have to be a Smashing Pumpkins song for the preorder bonus?

Closest I've heard is an Ubi rep saying that you'll wanna hold onto your og Rocksmith disc. Makes me think at worst we'll be disc swapping. But they could also come out and say there will be some sorta license transfer.

Looks to be Guitar and Bass, but I'm not 100% certain on that.

I already have the game for the 360, but am tempted to pick it up for the PC just for the Bass addon (if included.)

I got the guitar + game bundle at Sam's this week for $47.71. The clearance price sticker on the package was $59.71. That was good enough for me, but I was happy when it rang up for even less.

This was for the Xbox 360 version, but it was the only one left if any version that I could see. In case I'm wrong, the Sam's Club was the one on Bryant Irvin in Fort Worth, TX.

Anyway, I was thinking they might put all of the DLC on sale around the RS2014 launch. That's what they did last year when the Bass version got released.

I figure we'll see some sales here soon.

I got to play last night after moving for 2 weeks... Felt nice to have a guitar in my hand again. Took my score on "Good Enough" from 71,000 to 97,000 in 2 play throughs last night. Made me feel pretty damn good.

I see there have been some sales on the Road Worn series over the past few weeks. I can't reccomend that series of fender strats and teles enough. The 50's Roadworn I bought from Best Buy is the only guitar I ever play now (and that's saying something, if you know my backstory on the guitars I've bought from BB over the last few months and the ones I already had)...

What about the on-disc songs from the original Rocksmith? Can I play those?
Rocksmith 2014 Edition will be backwards compatible! This means you’ll be able to play the on-disc songs from the original Rocksmith, so keep your copy around.

It seems like they give pretty clear answers on other questions, so hopefully they didn't forget to mention a fee.

Someone on the RS forums pointed out that these are the first 6 songs ever available as DLC. Well... It looks like the Best Buy well has dried up around me... They are definitely closing the last 2 well stocked stores around me. All the Fenders are gone. A lot of the amps are gone. There were still plenty of pedals left. I grabbed a few hundred bucks worth today. That sounds like a lot, but I am going to sell 2 of the pedals to make up the cost and keep the others... That's probably the last trip I'll make. I won't lie - I'm a little sad about the end of the BB gold mines.

Final on mine was $308... The good store that I had been getting stuff from still has 4 or 5 HD400s at 199. They still had an M13 stompbox modeler for $249, too. Passed on it, since I already had the HD500.
