Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

I'll let the musician CAGs speak to the quality of the guitar;)

Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

UPDATE #2: deal is definitely an in-store bundle of standalone guitar + game bundle. Guitar is an Epiphone LP jr with a cherryburst finish and no strap or picks are included. Asked about substituting a different guitar model but bundle price won't activate if you switch it out

Picked up 5 pedals yesterday at BB. The inventory at my favorite one has really wound down. Mostly pedals left now. I got SO much stuff, I can hardly be sad about it. My wallet certainly won't be.

Anyway, the pedals were:

MXR Micro Amp (solo booster/gain control)

MXR 10 Band EQ (Nice - also has a volume and a gain control on the EQ)

MXR Dyna Comp (For the "Nashville Sound" - adds compression and a nice sustain)

Boss DD-3 Delay pedal

Electro Harmonix Pulsar Tremolo pedal (Nice Boutique Trem pedal)

I already have a Line 6 DL4, so I'll sell the Delay pedal and the Pulsar Trem pedal (after listening to the demo, I can't say I'd EVER use that type of effect with the stuff I want to play) to make up most of the cost of all the pedals. They were $180 (traded Madden for $45 and had a $15 RZ cert - so $130 out of pocket)... The DD-3 and Trem will probably get me around $120 or $130 net, so the other pedals will "cost" me $60. Not bad for $320 or so of pedal power :)

They still have a shit ton of Boss pedals and MXR pedals. I like the MXR line better than the Boss ones, but at these prices, I really still can't complain.

I can say that I am probably done buying guitars for life. I really can't imagine paying $800 for a guitar again when I was getting them for 200 or 300 bucks.

Fender Classic Series '50's RoadWorn Telecaster in 2 Tone Sunburst - SP $950 - ($299?)

Epiphone Les Paul Ultra III in Antique Red Sunburst - SP $750 - ($203!!!!)

I kept finding Squier Rock Band guitars that had been hidden away for years (including in the original shipping boxes on shelves) that cost me $130 or $113 each and then I resold all of them for between $375 and $450. I used that method to buy most of the guitars.

Then, I found Fishman acoustic pedals in the 2 BBs that I was using. They only cost me around $40 each - but they're out of print AND are HIGHLY sought after... Sold all of them for between $150 and $300... So I bought pedals and the Epiphone with that... Then I bought 4 Line 6 M13 stompbox modelers at $175 to $150 and resold them for $375, which bought the rest of my pedals. It was pretty insane. I think I hit silver at Best Buy in July or something.

I wanted a MXR Carbon Copy, but the only one they had left was missing a knob and looked like someone had played football with it, so I passed.

I saw the Strat on the web clearance list for the one store I was going to. I called the guy and he said he didn't see it. He said he'd call me back in 5 minutes. Being Best Buy, I figured I wouldn't hear back from him at all. He called back in 5 minutes and said he found it in the warehouse in the original shipping box and it must be my lucky day. I went straight to the store and bought it. :) I use it over my American Highway 1 Strat most of the time. It has a nice feel. The Roadworn is my favorite, but it needs a setup. The intonation on the G string is off and I don't understand how they tweak the string saddle to get it right.

 
So my birthday came & went and I never saw any signs of a Rocksmith preorder. I was a little bummed about that. However, my folks did get me this, leaving me no room to truly be sad. It's a Fender Acoustasonic Jr amp and Wasburn ea 36 electric/acoustic guitar. Love my folks.

The intonation is adjusted using the rear screw. The action is adjusted using the allen screws on the top of the saddle.

Found a Peavey Rockmaster in the clearance toy section of Walmart for $35. Not the best guitar in the world, but still nice. It's got a few things about it that are nicer for Rocksmith than my 97 Telecaster California Series- namely its weight and pickup. It's going to my ten year old nephews this Christmas, along with a copy of Rocksmith 2011 for PC.

Yeah got my lil 'Stripes' over at BB and its my first 'Big Boy' guitar, since I just started really got into playing like 3 months ago. So I don't have a ton of experience with guitars, but I am loving the living wood out of it. There is something to it that just makes me want to play it even though I only know the basics hehe. But I want to keep it in top shape so I was wondering what products were the best for it.

I did use the cable included and hooked the guitar up to a mac just like they show in the video. It neat since you can record what you play and use the sounds from garage band.

Picked up Cliffs of Dover and No Rain.  Cliffs of Dover is beyond my  skill level, but is either my favorite or second favorite instrumental (along with Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing from Joe Satriani).  So I figured, what the heck I'll give it a try. 

As an interesting aside,one of the songs I wrote and recorded a while back, I had a friend say sounded like a cross between Blind Melon and Eric Johnson.

The Foo Fighters songs were badly mixed and hard to hear because of it... But the songs are great...

Best of You and Walk are pretty easy, as I recall, but cool to play. I love the vibe of Wheels, but it is not easy. There are a couple of sections of fingerpicked/arpeggiated stuff that is moderately difficult.

Times Like These has some moderate sections, but not overwhelming. My Hero I have only played once.

My faves are Best of You and Wheels.

Looks like Best Buy revamped their clearance search functions. You can search in a 248 mile circle from any zip... There are still Rock Band Guitars out there (search the 248 miles, then look at video games and arrange by price, 50 per page - and then go to the last page). They are now $108. They sell - VERY easily - for $375 new on eBay.

Also, I still found some nice guitar deals and amp deals from the new search. If you're in the market, it may be worth checking. It looks like the VAST majority of music stuff all across the US is done, though. There was little to be found, even searching in enough places that I hit most of the US. Still some really nice pedal deals in various places, though.

Looks like Joe Satriani "Satch Boogie" is going to be on disc for 2014. I won't bother trying to play that - much like I never played "Cliffs of Dover".

$10 for base game BB exclusive edition (just some extra pedal/amp effects IIRC), not bad for a cheap extra cable or for people who are going to start with 2014 and want to import songs. Considering there's a $20 difference between the RS 2014 edition with and w/o cable, this is a must buy for those new to RS who are planning to buy 2014. $10 savings plus you get to import all the original songs. I've been debating getting this just for a spare cable

Can't speak for the actual pack-in units. But I've got 2 Epi LPjr's; a cherry sunburst that I got around the original launch of the game and a blue burst that I got last year.

They're fun, straightfoward guitars that I still like to go back to on a regular basis. Most likely will need some attention outta the box, like string change and action adjustment. Though my blue burst was good to go when it arrived, so you never know.

But if you really want one, I'd recommend you buy one separate from the game bundle.

This way you can try out a few and find one that's the pick of the litter. Plus they tend to go on sale for around $100 during these next few months; at least that's what I remember from the 2011 & 2012 holidays.

I remember giving people some guitar advice when this franchise first released...but I myself never had the time for it due to school. Haven't played my guitar much in the last two years, which is bat-shit crazy after playing for almost 20 years. :lol: But school is almost over and this game seems really fun...not to mention this is a great deal. Has anybody tried to hook up a wireless system between their guitar and Rocksmith? I've never been a fan of the length of the cable and it's been even more problematic lately. I've been laid up on the couch due to ankle surgery and the cable doesn't reach. I don't have a wireless system, but if it's compatible, I just might get one

Only since day 1. :) I have an Altec unit and it works perfectly. The other by product of that is that I have never had a cable go bad.
