Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

I'll let the musician CAGs speak to the quality of the guitar;)

Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

UPDATE #2: deal is definitely an in-store bundle of standalone guitar + game bundle. Guitar is an Epiphone LP jr with a cherryburst finish and no strap or picks are included. Asked about substituting a different guitar model but bundle price won't activate if you switch it out

Foo Fighters have two good songs from their new album that I heard on the radio (Philadelphia's 93.3 WMMR rocks!): Congregation and something From Nothing. They're having a concert in the city in July and started selling tickets. Would love to see them, but with three young kids, I get no time to myself these days.
 
One of these days I guess..  :razz:  Seriously mate just hire a babysitter for the night and go see them!

I'm still debating on getting the GS copy of RS2014 for my X1. It's 50 bucks but it comes with the cable too, plus I would get the Hendrix DLC for free. Very tempting.. although I could just fire up the ol 360 and just play it there.. what do you guys think, is it worth upgrading?

Already sold my 360 copy, and will be getting the GS deal. I haven't seen any details for the black Friday deal, but are you sure it has the cable? If so, buy the game, sell the cable, plus free Hendrix DLC? Worth it to me, since I sold my copy for $25 2 weeks ago.
 
I have it digitally on 360, so I'm in no rush. I'm tossing around the GS deal, but is rather have it digitally, since it's a game I'll keep playing through to the next one, but I don't want to pay $60 for digital - even if Hendrix is free (not a big Hendrix fan)...

The Tom Petty pack definitely got me playing again. I've been really working hard on those songs. I want to learn those for real. I have a buddy that plays locally and sometime next year, I'm gonna nut up and play a few songs with him on stage... In front of people... Gulp... He plays mostly southern rock stuff, but I know a bunch of country from outside RS now. Might even throw in an original.


Also - Bullet for My Valentine DLC this week. It's a 5 pack. I saw them live once at uproar and the were good. Kind of like Metallica before they began to suck.

Since it's Steam's Thanksgiving sale -- wait for a flash deal, the last day of the sale, or for it to go on sale for 75%+.

Yeah, my 360 copy never leaves the tray so I'm leaning heavily towards getting it digitally for the X1.

And if no deal shows up, I'll just keep playing on the 360, waiting for the new RS version that'll probably drop next year.

While the CAG in me agrees with you, that would maybe happen during the Winter/Xmas sale, not this Fall sale. RS2014 is one of the few things out there worth the full price of admission, so it's just a question of how long you want to wait for it. The DLC has only gone on sale twice that I know of in the past year. Just wanted the regulars here to be aware this sale had started.

Yes the GS deal includes the cable. Says so on their website last time I looked. The only thing that kind of bothers me about upgrading this way is I really would have rather had a digital copy of the game. One of my biggest pet peeves is having to switch out discs. Go into my cabinet and take out a different game, put that in. It's not convenient, especially this time of year when multiple great games have been dropping. Having it digitally would be a lot easier to fire up whenever I wanted.

Also, how did you get 25 for the 360 copy? Did you sell the cable with it too?

 
Has Rocksmith DLC gone lower than 25% in past sales?

Im not in a huge rush, so I will do the normal wait for a dialy/last-day to buy. More wondering if I should wait until the Winter sale in hopes of getting higher than 25%.

 
Steam sales have put the DLC much lower. But the console sales were usually $1 off individual songs, so about 33%off (sad part, it's been a looong time since we saw a DLC sale on consoles)

Nope, kept the cable. Sold the game only on eBay.

Don't know if it's been discussed before but this pack doesn't actually include the game itself (a head scratching decision I might add). It's basically 2 cables and a USB microphone. You can buy the regular game at GS for under 10 bucks and it comes with the cable. I don't see any value to this deal.

 
It's usually around and thanksgiving we start to see some real good deals on guitars, specifically some gibson clearance. Anybody seen anything good?
 
Didn't see shit yet. I figure the Gibson stuff will start up soon. I think last year it was around December when it really kicked in to get rid of last years models. Not in the market for anything this year. Maybe next year if I really get serious about getting on a stage, I'll look for a good deal on a Martin A/E in the $1500 range.
 
^ Man I wish I had your disposable income and confidence in my abilities to warrant a $1,500 Gibson purchase. Biggest purchase I've made is a used Strat, which is very nice mind you, but didn't cost me nearly that much.

I decided to jump on the RS deal. The Jimi DLC alone would run me $30 and I planned on getting that anyway. If I sell my 360 copy I can get maybe 20-25 for it. If I decide to sell one of my cables I can get another 20 bucks easy. I think in the end I'll get out ahead. Don't usually like repurchasing older games I already own but at the very least this is a good teaching tool for a great hobby, so why not.

Another option is the Microsoft store, which had the X1 and 360 versions on sale too. Sold out online, but you could try in-store, if you're near one.

Yeah, starting to think that there won't be the big Gibson clearance like in years past. Lowest I've seen have been the Melody Makers at $450 and in prior years that would've gone for $300-400 tops.

Gibson did something messed up early in the year... they jacked up the price on all of this year's model guitars AFTER they were in stores at their initial price. Hard to say right now if it's from low inventory or if they think these 120th anniversary branded models will be in high demand.

Either way, it's not gonna help with deals. And I think it gets worse next year... thought I remember reading that they were jacking up prices some more (or maybe that was Fender).

I'm still holding out for a digital deal. The Hendrix dlc is cool, but I doubt I'd do much with it.

And since I'd be re-buying it solely for the X1, I'd rather wait. Worse case scenario, my 360 remains the Rocksmith machine that it's been for the last 3 years ;)

So Amazon had the game at $50 all day yesterday, but their deal calendar also stated a specific RS2014 deal at 11:00 or so last night. Did it end up going cheaper than $50?
 
No idea if it was cheaper but I'm sure in a few months it will hit lower prices if you want to hold out.

Bah, I got on today trying to import some of my DLC and the Ubi servers are down. Anyone run into this problem? It's frustrating.

 
I figure the digital won't go on sale before the Hendrix offer runs out. I'm okay with staying on 360 right now. At least all of my songs are there and I just got that 360 back when BB did the $303 trade in for the old slim 360s, so I'd feel bad retiring it already. :)

 
I'm still keeping my 360 for some of the older games I still want to play that aren't out on Xbox One. Also 2 free games a month is pretty nice. 

As for RS on X1, I was able to import all my single track purchases, but not the packs I bought and not the RS1 import. Anyone heard anything about when it'll get sorted out?

Yeah, I couldn't get any DLC yesterday through the in game store. For what it's worth, it was my first time syncing up on the X1 since coming from the 360

I get the feeling the RS1 Import is still being worked on. I read somewhere that packs should be working too on the X1 but I have yet to be able to download them for free. Everytime I try it asks me to pay. It's been almost a month since they released this upgrade and they still haven't fixed everything. You'd think Ubi would have their sh*t figured out before releasing the game but nope.

 
Yeah - Dan has said that it may take a long while - evidently MS has bigger fish to fry than doing the DLC remappings... One more reason I'm not too worried about moving yet.
 
I bit the bullet and bought from GameStop. The deciding factor was that a buddy of mine gave me a $25 gift card to there for my bday and it's just been sitting there collecting dust. Roughly $30 out of pocket and I've got the Hendrix dlc and the new-gen disc. Some people may not get too excited for him, but I know I will dump lots of time into his songs.
 
Yup, definitely upgrading at Best Buy as well. Was thinking the best I could do is a sale on the digital version down the line since it would take awhile for the physical game-with cable to drop. I love being wrong sometimes (I also love having GCU). 

 
It's also $39.99 at Amazon today, but if you have GCU, it's going to be a better deal at Best Buy.  32 bucks... I was going to just stick with 360, but I may have to bite at that price.

I should have known better than to think GameStop would have the best deal. I used a $25 gift card I got for free and still regret it. I just purchased from best buy with gcu. An extra $4 out of pocket means I get to keep $25 in credit. Just have to return it as soon as it comes in the mail. Btw, best buy gave me free shipping even though it was only $32. Not sure if it was because of a promotion or if they base the shipping requirement off of the pre gcu price
 
LOL... Other than DLC and the games, the majority of my post Rocksmith buying was during the Best Buy clearances, and that ended up costing me nothing because I sold the stuff I didn't want to pay for the stuff I did want. I already had 2 Fenders from when I started playing.

Dude, you made out like a bandit during those clearances. I wish I could have found a 1/4 of those deals :lol: .

The only ones that get me still are the Jaguar and an arctic pearl tele (that I apparently missed by some 10min).

$34 after GCU and tax - $10 Ibotta rebate + having an Ibanez RG120 sitting in the closet made this an easy decision.  Hopefully the Ibanez will work out okay.

Yeah... I took the American Tele in to the tech at GC and all he could do when I told him what I paid was shake my hand and shake his head...

4 Fenders, 1 Epiphone Les Paul, 2 $500 Line6 Multi Effect pedals, and $2500 of loose pedals and it cost me nothing but time driving between the stores...

 
BTW... A lot of DLC either isn't on the X1 store OR shows up that you have to purchase it even if you bought it on 360... The tradeoff is that I found 41 songs that I had not bought that, when you clicked on them in the RS store, said something like "You have already purchased this song. Install it?"... So... There you go. Nothng you can do but click all the songs one by one and see which ones come up as already purchased and they;re different for every person (someone in the forums has "Whipping Post" show up as already purchased, while I got "Jessica", 2 MB20 songs showed as purchased for me, but others got none, etc.)... Happy hunting! ;)

I was offerred a Rocksmith 2014 Steam code for $20.  Should I wait until after/during Christmas, or should I bite?  I won't be able to play it until after the New Year, anyway.  If I skip on this deal, will I miss out?

Now this is the sort of incompetence I can get behind. Went through a fraction of the list and got like 5 new songs. Gonna finish going through later tonight. Bummed my old DLC isn't recognized, but I should have more than enough to keep me busy while I wait for them to figure it out.

And I will say the stuff that's coming up as free seems to be random. I've gotten some stuff you didn't list and was denied some of the stuff you did.

Edit: Just realized you already said it was different for everyone.
