Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

I'll let the musician CAGs speak to the quality of the guitar;)

Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

UPDATE #2: deal is definitely an in-store bundle of standalone guitar + game bundle. Guitar is an Epiphone LP jr with a cherryburst finish and no strap or picks are included. Asked about substituting a different guitar model but bundle price won't activate if you switch it out

If you want the Rocksmith 1 songs you have to export that disc or import into 2014 on your PS3. Then you can do rocksmith 2014 and download the import tool on the ps4, but only if you already did it on ps3 previously. Its not in the psn store just the in game store on ps4. Its confusing...

 
I am having detection issues with my new guitar. I don't have any issues with my bass, but even going through the first lessons, where I am holding down nothing but a single fret on the top string, the game doesn't seem to hear it. I have tried retuning and recalibrating and then jumping right back in to the lesson, but no luck.

Is there anything I can do to improve how Rocksmith picks up notes? I am worried it might be something with the guitar. I did mail order from Sam Ash, but the box arrived mint. Its a Squier Tele, so it wasn't super cheap, but is it potentially a build quality issue?

Your best bet is to check your intonation Just open the tools menu. There will be a mini tuner at the bottom of the screen. It will tell you the note rocksmith thinks you are playing.Then just pluck an open low e then put your finger down at the 12th fret and pluck agaun.You should get the same note hopefully without too much of that white line on either side of the note.

I have the same problem with my g string and have to pluck it very gently or it goes sharp and won't register.

They could have just as easily pulled a "Walmart" and beat it by 3 pennies ;) .

I don't know, that doesn't bug me too much since they did match it.  I've had times where they wouldn't match because it was the same family of stores.  Had to get into a discussion about their terms and asked them to point out where it stated such.

I've learned to not fight the bozo who denies it and just call back.  You'll usually get someone else who'll do it in 5 minutes, no questions, no trouble.

 
They wouldnt have had to beat their price by much. I was on the fence about the pedal and them not willing to beat the price was enough to sway me out of the purchase. A couple dollars off or a pack of picks or something, anything at all to make me feel like they were true to their policy
 
I wish I had kept some of those Akai pedals that we all got for $3 or whatever they were. :) on second thought, I have a shelf of unopened pedals.... And an unopened Line6 M13... And an HD500... Stupid sales...

It was an insane run, though. The Music123 123% PM policy was bad enough... Then add the MF policy on top of it. I think, with those Akai price matches, I ended up getting a $100 GC that got me my Jaguar AKG hard case for $30... Not to mention $2 packs of strings and 100 packs of picks for like $1 each...

Nothing will EVER top Best Buy, though. What I wouldn't give to get one more run like that in my life... It was so much fun actually being the proverbial kid in a candy shop... Especially when ALL the candy was free (after eBay-ing 1/3 of what I got every week).

 
Ugh... I just missed out on a couple of BB deals; a pearl American tele and rough Mustang (that I would've nurtured back to health).  But still got some other deals out of their failures.

But I have a feeling your strat-loving butt's been neglecting the jag :whistle2:

If you just have ps3 rs1 you can export, if you have both you can use the import in rs2014...its confusing. You dont have to own 2014 on ps3. You do have to have a ps3 to export or import first then on your ps4 the menu option is there magically.

PS4: UPDATE 3/16/15: Check the in-game Shop under the Packs menu. If you are eligible to download it, you should see Rocksmith Disc Import Pack under R. To be eligible for this download, you will need to have purchased the Disc Export Pack from within the original Rocksmith for PS3 or the Disc Import Pack from within Rocksmith 2014 on PS3.

For instance, if you have the original Rocksmith on Ps3, look for the Disc Export Access pack and purchase it for $9.99:

I picked up a Phase 90 as well after you tipped me off to BBY putting pedals on clearance, but it died. It makes a horrible buzz and gets really loud now when I turn it on. So I picked up one of these as a replacement.

does importing old tracks work on the xbox one (i only see ps3 discussed here)? i haven't owned any RS games on the 360, but i will find them on craigslist if i can import the songs.

 
^ Yes you can do that on Xbox one as well. If you still have a 360 you are better off getting it for that, but if you only have a One then it's still worth the purchase
 
i have both a 360 and x1

i am looking to get the most songs on the x1 in as cheap a manner as possible, so i should buy the previous iterations for 360 and import them to x1 using the directions above, right?

Looks like a good deal to me. In fact, I just bought one in blue with a price match to musiciansfriend, where I had a gift certificate I bought at a discount a few months ago. So my final out-of-pocket on this is just under $100. Hard to beat that.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the Custom Shop logo on the back of the neck. Not that it means too much, but it's a nice touch. The entire back of the guitar, including the neck, is that same blue color. Looks very cool. The lighter portions of the finish are a little bit more of a greenish, blue-green shade than the stock picture on the GC/MF websites, but I still like it. Sure beats plain black or a standard-issue sunburst. The frets seem to be in nice shape, and it plays pretty nicely. Haven't had a lot of time to play around with it, but wanted to share here.

I just picked up rock smith from a lowball and am looking into some guitars. Quick question though (probably a dumb one) do you need an amp with this too? I'm assuming no, just if you want it for when you learn to play on your own, but wanted to double check
 
Wonder if the rebirth of guitar hero/rockband will hurt the future song selection for rocksmith? Not sure if the bands are locked into one game deal when they approve these dlcs
 
I really thought those games would offer pro mode with real guitar at this point. You cant go back to plastic guitars after you've held the real thing...

I always loved the song, anyway, but Fuels song is great to play. Some nice arpeggios, a couple of nice, easy solos... Fun song to play.

I am so excited for this. Finally some more BB King! I wonder which song we'll get.. I have requested several of them on the app. In related news, anyone hear about his hospitalization today? Really sad, although he is getting up there in age. I got to see him front row and center last year and although he didn't play much he did pretty well for an 88 year old at the time.

Also in other sad news Ben E King died today. Maybe we'll get Stand By Me?

They are cheap pedals anyway, but I bit on them simply because I don't think I've ever seen new pedals for $9 out the door. I think that unless they are horrible, I'll just stick them in my bedroom where I keep a Frontman 15g and a MiM strat to goof around on.
