Salty I need to re-do my profile in CAG4.0
As the original deal morphed into a game deal and guitar advice thread, I decided to place the original BB deal behind spoiler tags for a reference point. And I listed the current deals below. The guitar purchase is the most difficult part for us beginners, so read the advice in the thread

Too busy to read the entire thread? Then try these following posts for the guitar advice. Thanks to SmileyMcSmiles for all the help :applause:

Guitar+Bass Version*****

Original Version*****

Original DEAL behind this Spoiler
Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

I'll let the musician CAGs speak to the quality of the guitar;)

UPDATE: Bestbuy finally got the site updated with the offer.
Link Dead
Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

UPDATE #2: deal is definitely an in-store bundle of standalone guitar + game bundle. Guitar is an Epiphone LP jr with a cherryburst finish and no strap or picks are included. Asked about substituting a different guitar model but bundle price won't activate if you switch it out

Was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on dlc to get. I cannot stand just strumming different chords threw most of a song. Like more single note picking style. Something like hendrix just a bit faster tempo to keep the playing from being to easy and me getting bored with it. Was thinking of getting some muse, bachsmith, and soundgarden packs. That slayer pack looks pretty fun if heavy on the chugging.

Look up videos of people playing songs off the Mastodon pack. Mastodon is not as fast as slayer but it still has some nice complicated songs.

Also looking to get an small practice amp this weekend. While I like Rocksmith, I want a small bass amp so I feel I don't need to be tied to one game/cable. I was looking at a Peavey Max 126 which is a 10W for $80 new (my practice area is extremely small). Was wondering if people had any input. My price range is about $80 since it's just for practice and nothing more.

I picked up that orange amp posted a couple pages back and it's done me well so far. Still mostly play on rocksmith but I'm starting to get comfortable enough with some songs to consider going just amp.

I would rather personally buy a small amp. Just because I would like the flexibility of not being tied to headphones. Sure I could probably plug a speaker into the Amplug but, it would be a lot more work for me.

Go on Riff Repeater's Youtube page and look at some of the uploads. Personally I like single note/solo type songs more than just strumming as that gets boring to me. There are a lot of great songs out there. Don't just look at the new releases either, check out some stuff that came out pre-2014 RS.

I picked up a few songs tonight and was looking for the new tracks from The Cure and Bill Withers but they weren't up on Live yet for some reason. Anyone know what's going on?

Dan said they're working with MS to figure it out. No news yet.

No hint yet today, either. Dan said he was swamped, so the hint would be later today.

Queens of the Stone Age 5 pack incoming Tuesday. Ugh...
I'm neither a fan nor a hater of them. I think some of their songs are decent to listen to but I highly doubt I would ever spend money on these tracks. Oh well, I have plenty of older DLC to catch up on plus this past week's release which is still not up. Sigh...

So I bought a Peavey Max 126 Amp, and I am glad I did. Not because I have an amp but another story. So I only had Rocksmith and that was my Amp system. I noticed often when playing Rocksmith it was like your volume on your Bass is low, and it would sometimes miss notes. I always thought yes it's the game screwing up, it's a game.

I plug my bass into the amp and I head buzzing and I am like the fuck ? Turns out the phono jack on my bass is bad, and it needs to be replaced. So now I am basically waiting for my new jacks to come in before I can do anything.

Although I am excited for a QOTSA pack, finally something different than the same rock hits of the 1990's-2000's.

Rockabilly Song Pack...

Brian Setzer “Rock This Town (2010)”
Carl Perkins “Blue Suede Shoes”
Gene Vincent and His Blue Caps “Be-Bop-A-Lula”
Ricky Nelson “Hello Mary Lou (Goodbye Heart)”
Queen “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”

All in E Standard.

The Setzer song will probably be on the Steve Vai difficulty level... Dude is an insane player and even the rhythm track will likely have some fairly difficult stuff in it...

Very cool.

Think I'm in for all of them

Steam sale currently has RS2014 for $26.99 (55% off), the RS 1 import tool for $8.49 (15% off) and about 2/3 of the DLC for 40% off.  These are some of the best discounts I've seen on this.  I don't think the import tool has ever been discounted.  Get ya some.

I have some kind of calibration bug causing all my sound to be crackly and off.. So I have to decide if I want to start from scratch with a new save file or wait for who knows how long to see if Ubi fixes it

Anyone know of a place to get a reasonable real tone cable without buying the game all over again ? Even Gamestop doesnt seem to carry them anymore.

I bought the ps4 version a few months ago when BB had it on sale but just opened it yesterday to find out the cable inside the pack was DOA. The system doesnt register ajy sound through the cable. Guitar works fine with the amp so i dont think its the instrument.

Picked it up today at gamestop since I've got credit to burn, back to $40 all platforms again. Got the only XB1 copy they had, thankfully case still sealed.

I grabbed RS 2014 from Best Buy for PS4 with GCU for $32 at the beginning of the week. I'm liking it so far, but having trouble importing songs from RS for PS3. All I have (and am interested in atm) is a bass so I cannot get past the tuning sequence to purchase the export pack. Is there any way to get to a menu without borrowing an electric guitar from someone? Can I fake out RS into thinking my bass is a guitar with some creative tuning? As a CAG I'm ideologically opposed to dropping $10 on a bass DLC pack for an older version I don't intend to play.

Picked up the Gene Vincent song. Must own DLC right there. So much fun to play at all skill levels.

Incoming pack of Country songs this week. CrazedRacer will be happy about this one. Hank Williams Sr. - I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry is only song confirmed so far. I believe it's a 3-pack.

I picked up 100$ of DLC last week with the 15$ back promo. Im finding that even though my skill level is pretty low, I Dont really like songs that are just "strum x chord 200 times". Slash pack is fun though, and RATM is a bit repetitve but gets my head bouncing every time

is this promo still going on? i havent heard of it until now. is it xbox or psn? i'm assuming its a xbox rewards promo.

interesting, might be tempted to check this out and see if they also have any others like my name is mud. John the fisherman might be nice as well.

One thing I realized after picking up a bunch of DLC packs:  It may often be worth it to buy individual songs instead.  For DLC packs you are saving anywhere between 1-3 dollars on a song, but individual songs are 3$ each so it may not always be worth it.  I find that there are certain songs that are just... boring for lack of a better term.  It pays to take some time and youtube the tracks to make sure they are interesting to play, even if it is a song/band you really like.

The third song is Roger Miller "King of the Road"... Definitely a classic, but I think half the song is a snare drum and finger snaps. That song may end up being the worst chart ever in a Rocksmith song... I'll get it, of course, because I want more country eventually, but damn... Wasted opportunity.

5 pack of Volbeat today, all in D Standard... But fuck that - because that ain't the deal!!! :)

OVERVIEW
Loads of midrange, perfect for '80s rock and metal.

The gain structure and tone character of the 6262-212 is built on the same fundamentals as the 6260, but has more midrange, making it perfect for '80s rock and metal. You also get full control of EQ, Presence and Reverb on both channels.

A lot of amp manufacturers call their Treble/Mid/Bass knobs tone controls, but Bugera calls theirs EQ because they spent a lot of time making sure that they each have a unique character. Treble really screams; Mid puts you about six rows into the audience; Low can add more growl than an angry Kodiak bear.

The Presence control is tailored to smooth out your tone or add enough bite to cut through any cymbal. It can bring new life to darker sounding instruments.

Like several other Bugera models, 6262-212 has a modern studio digital reverb to avoid unwanted rumble from vintage springs when you're on a heavily vibrating stage. Bugera auditioned literally hundreds of 24-bit reverb patches and finally settled on a favorite that they thought would be perfect for both lead and rhythm playing. The result is way more versatile and usable.

This model does not feature Infinium technology.

I had the same thing happen. So I called them up and they let me place an order as "first in line". So if somebody cancels I get the amp. He says if I don't see it's been shipped within a few days that I have to call back and cancel my order or else it will just sit in limbo. Weird process. Hopefully one person cancels their order

that might be interesting to check out when  it's available and on sale again.

Thanks for the heads up on the Volbeat, It has been added to my steam cart.

I will be getting that Volbeat pack at some point. Maybe there will be another dlc sale in the next few months.

If I change my mind and just can't wait, I will try this out along with the Sublime pack I haven't picked up yet.

I saw it and placed an order at 12:40. The SD email came to me at 12:26. I just happened to be sitting at Panera closing tickets on my Surface and was able to jump on and order it. Can't imagine how much louder this will be than my little 5w tube amp...

Sorry if this has been asked and answered somewhere in the prior pages, but quick question.  If I own Rocksmith 2014 on both the 360 and the One, and I've already done the import, and now I want to buy more DLC, can I buy it on one platform and get it on both?  If I buy it on the 360, do I also get it on the One?  Thanks.

Also, Volbeat is freaking awesome.
