Cleric supports targeting children

An extremist Islamic cleric based in Britain said yesterday that he would support hostage-taking at British schools if carried out by terrorists with a just cause.
Omar Bakri Mohammed, the spiritual leader of the extremist sect al-Muhajiroun, said that holding women and children hostage would be a reasonable course of action for a Muslim who has suffered under British rule.
In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, Mr Mohammed said: "If an Iraqi Muslim carried out an attack like that in Britain, it would be justified because Britain has carried out acts of terrorism in Iraq.
"As long as the Iraqi did not deliberately kill women and children, and they were killed in the crossfire, that would be okay."
Mr Mohammed, 44, who lives in Edmonton, north London, but is originally from Syria, also claimed that the Chechen rebels were not responsible for the deaths of more than 350 people - at least half of them children - who are so far known to have died in Beslan.
"The Mujahideen [Chechen rebels] would not have wanted to kill those people, because it is strictly forbidden as a Muslim to deliberately kill women and children. It is the fault of the Russians," he said.
The father of seven came to Britain in 1985 after being deported from Saudi Arabia because of his membership of a banned group. He has since been given leave by the Home Office to remain in Britain for five years but the Government is reviewing his status.
He gave an interview yesterday to promote a "celebratory" conference in London next Saturday to commemorate the third anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
Andrew Dismore, the Labour MP for Hendon, was infuriated by Mr Mohammed's comments. "That sounds to me like incitement and I will report him to Scotland Yard," he said. "It is an insult to most moderate Muslims, who are sick of people like this claiming to represent them."

It's too bad I can't read Arabic. I'm sure what's written on their own publications would turn your stomachs. Go on pretending this is just a fringe minority of Islam. You'll notice that the American based Council on American Islamic Relations, American Muslim Council and even Louis Farrakhan's Nation of Islam have said NOTHING to denounce the actions in Beslan, Russia. 340+ dead, 155+ children murdered, shot in the back while fleeing and not one American Muslim group has spoken out against this attrocity.
Now we have a Britain based iman saying that this behavior is acceptable. Do you not think there are people preaching the same thing in America? Do you not think that these people are viewed now as warriors instead of terrorists by practitioners of their faith? Don't be shocked when this happens here or in Britian. Of couse the same usual suspects will call me racist, a bigot or whatever. I don't care.
If the majority of Muslims are opposed to these actions and preachings why don't they say so? Why don't they protest their religion being hijacked by a violent minority that will do nothing but bring the wrath of the world against Islam? Why don't they make a stand in this country where their faith is protected, they would have the backing of civil protections and government protection if their speech was met with violence?
The only answer any resonable person can come to is that the silence of "mainstream" Islamic leaders, even in America, is tantamount to tacit approval of such actions. After World War II we were told to believe that there were indeed "good" Germans that were against everything Hitler did and stood for. Unfortunately because they did nothing they ended up standing by and watched their country was destroyed and countless millions died.
Isn't that example of history the "good" Muslims are embracing by saying nothing as the modern day brown and black shirts carry out acts of horrible violence, treachery and murder under the guise of a headscarf and the monnicker of "Islamic Freedom Fighters"? It's time to recognize this threat for what it is, fascism in a headscarf. There is no other goal for these radicals than to overthrow every government they now enjoy protections from and overthrow secular constitutional rule with a Sharia based theocracy.
