The old Sears clearance thread was almost a year old, so I've taken the liberty of creating this one. I went back and wrote down the drops and lowest reported prices so far for all of 2007. The games may ring up more or less for you as prices are YMMV (your mileage may vary). The games should ring up at some sort of clearance price at every Sears store that carries games. They may not be tagged on clearance at your store, so you should have them scanned to find out what they ring up as. My local Sears rarely tags the clearance games, so I have to refer to this list. Games drop out of the system about a month after they hit $0.97.

Some clearance games at Sears were restocked over the holidays with new UPC stickers over the original UPC. These are ringing up $9.99-$19.99 as marked for now.

These prices are good at Sears, Sears Essentials, and Sears Grand stores.

Lowest reported prices (games may ring up less or more at your store):

If you have a new game or lower price to list, post it here and I'll update the OP periodically. Even if a game is only a few dollars off, please report it here. The price WILL drop on a regular basis. When reporting a price, please give us the game title AND system.

Here's a link to the old thread: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103736

In my experience, the list of clearance games at Sears isn't YMMV, but the specific clearance prices are (prices drop at different speeds at different stores. Also, people keep complaining that the clearance games are ringing up $15-20 at their stores. If they would actually read this post, they'd know that's because those are restocked holiday games with new UPC tags. The old stock of those games should still ring up on clearance if you can find them.

And because people can't read, I'll say it again:

PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!
PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!
PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!

I'm wondering, is there any clearance crossover with K-Mart since they merged or whatever? Like if Sears has Medieval Resurrection for $3.97, would K-Mart have it at the same or rounded price?
I'm wondering, is there any clearance crossover with K-Mart since they merged or whatever? Like if Sears has Medieval Resurrection for $3.97, would K-Mart have it at the same or rounded price?
Unfortunately not.

I went to a couple of Sears stores recently.

At the first one I got:

Madden 06 (360) - $1.97
Ghost Recon 2 (XB) -$1.97
World Championship Poker (XB) - $1.97
Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee (PSP) - $4.97
Beavis and Butt-Head: The Mike Judge Collection Vol. 1 (UMD) - $1.97
28 Days Later (UMD) - $1.97

And I saw but didn't get:

Elite Beat Agents (DS) - $23.97
Arthur & The Invisibles (PS2) - $15.97
Moto GP4 (PS2) - $31.97
Dead or Alive 4 (360) - $47.97

Halo Triple Pack was in the clearance bin, and scanned as a "clearance" item, but was still $49.99. Not sure why the clearance price is the same as the retail price (remember it showed up in the computer system as a clearance item).

The 2nd Sears I went to was just insane! In the Electronics Dept. they had a table with clearance games on it and a sign that said "Closeout - 75% off." I asked the manager about it and she said it was an additional 75% off the scanned price! Needless to say, I got a few games ;)

Tales of Phantasia (GBA) - $2.74 (normally $10.97)
Kong: The 8th Wonder of the World (GBA) - $1.99 (normally $7.97)
Star Wars Battlefront II (PSP) - $3.49 (normally $13.97)
Chibi Robo (GC) - $1.49 (normally $5.97)
Madden 06 (GC) - $2.49 (normally $9.97)
Dragonball Z Budukai (GC) - $0.99 (normally $3.97)
The Chronicles of Narnia (XB) - $3.75 (normally $14.99)
X-Men: The Official Game (XB) - $0.49 (normally $1.97)
World Tour Soccer 2006 (PS2) - $1.97 (normally $19.97)

That last one was more than 75% off because I told the manager I wouldn't pay more than two dollars for that game. So she gave it to me for $1.97! What a sweetheart! :bouncy:

Have to agree with Richard, whats the best way to score at Sears?

I have 2 by me, one of them has a few clearance items but nowhere near what yall are finding, many of the items that are being found here for cheap is still regular price. The second had a clearance table with nothing good on it and almost all Xbox360 games and items were gone in the store.

Its very hit or miss, out of the many sears Ive been to, only one had consistently had a nice selection of clearance items (as with my 12 game haul last week)

Must check out my local Sears, no one ever thinks of Sears as a game store in my area, I remember when GHII came out for the 360, I passed by a case and they had 3 or 4 guitars where as all the GS/EB, CC/BB were sold out.

She definitely wanted you. >___> Anyway, nice haul. Especially ToP for $3. I've been looking to get it cheap but no dice.... big fuzzy dice...

Found my first cruddy Sears clearance.

Madden 06 xbox was marked 7.97. Everything was marked higher than at other stores. Since I and most people wouldn't be interested in pretty much all of it, I didn't bother price checking, especially since they were placed in a clearance area and seemed to be on top of their clearance stuff. The only interesting game was Tourist Trophy which is still 31.97 and can be found for 19.99 as a new Greatest Hits addition.

Of interest if there is a "frontlane" game you are interested in, I didn't even see a frontlane section and most of what was on the clearance table was frontlane stuff. The semi-interesting part is that several were marked down from 14.99 to 11.99. I've seen this mardown trend with some of KMart's frontlane games as well. They're still too expensive in my opinion.

...A guy I know recently picked up Halo Triple Pack. He got it at a low clearance price. I don't know what it was, though, but he also got an additional employee discount. Then he took it to GameStop and made a profit off of it.

Is it even worth getting Subsistence now that the servers are down (IIRC)? I've already beaten Snake Eater, so I'm not sure if I'd like playing through the whole game again without anything unlocked. There are a few at my Sears.

There's a thread in the PS2 forum talking about the Subsistence servers. The European servers are still up, but according to Pi573, you need a PAL PS2 and a PAL version of the game to connect to them.

I actually work at sears, and I'll be moving to the electronics dept next week. I don't know what deals they have right now, but i'll keep you all posted on what deals they're offering in the NJ area over the coming months.

Nice, which one do you work at, if you don't mind me asking? I've been to 2 Sears stores in different parts of NJ recently and both of them didn't seem to have much in terms of the discounts posted here.

Picked up Mario Strikers (GC) for 19.97. Not a great deal, but good enough for me. All of my area stores are still at 29.99+. Played it a little bit and really like it.

Cool, even though I haven't found any "great" deals or games in general for that matter at any sears recently.

One of my local stores has Shadow Of Aku, which I was gonna ask about the other day on here, in the case at their store. I should hit that store up this weekend and grab it. Anyone know how it is? I miss that show on CN.
I just bought MSG3 Subsistence from Sears today for 19.97. Then I saw this tread saying the game is 6.97. Whats going on?
Taken from the OP:
I went back and wrote down the drops and lowest reported prices so far for all of 2007. The games may ring up more or less for you as prices are YMMV (your mileage may vary).

I think my Sears must have either sent all their clearence games somewhere, sold all of their clearnece games, or they're just in the back. They did move the cases around a bit, but all they had were the standard new releases in the case

I have never found a Sears with Clearance games. Just went to Port Richey, FL and there was nothing as amazingly good as this.

They did have:

Pokemon XD $23.97
SNK vs Capcom Cardfighters DS $23.97

Not really bargains, I passed.

If anyone can pick up an extra MGS3: Subsistence at a good price, please PM me. Just got a PS3 so I can finally play some PS2 games that I missed. All the Sears around me are pretty barren.

Will gladly pay cost + shipping + extra for your troubles.

I saw the Halo Triple Pack for $49.99, Pokemon XD Gamecubes for 89.99, and others with slight drops - not sure if these are one time markdowns or if they are now part of the clearance schedule since this Sears used pink stickers for everything. Picked up:

Mario and Luigi Partners in Time - $14.97
Yoshi Touch and Go - $11.97

Dave

I really may re-check my local Sears, since at least one of the two here had Subsistence and one had that Shadow Of Aku game.....

But, I never usually ask for stuff out of the case, since that's usually consumerese to clerks that 'I wanna get it' and I still feel KINDA bad for not taking the stuff after they lug it out.

Maybe I'm just getting soft though, huh?

I only ask for items out of the case after I confirm the price with a UPC printout at a price checker machine since it's difficult enough to find someone to open the case as it is and I don't want to take the time for them to get the game out of the case on the chance it's the right price. Most of the time though the games I want are already out of the case since most Sears near me tend to only keep the expensive games in the case.

Picked up Stacked (Xbox) for 1.97 at the New Castle, PA Sears. Also rang up at that price at the Sears in the Beaver Valley Mall in PA.

got lucky today. finally got mgs 3: subsistence it was $18.97 the girl was sorta exited about the price since it said $29.99. i also saw the Halo 3ple pack but it was STILL @ $49.99. ouch. i passed on MGAc!d 2 for $9.99

The clearance seems to be universal, however, the clearance rate seems to be YMMV. All the games that have ended in .97 might be higher than the prices posted here.

Examples: Fable was $9.97, Stacked was $9.97, Warioware Twisted was $14.97, and MGS3 Subsistence was $22.97.

This Sears actually had a price scanner next to the games on the floor in the single theft proof cases, so I was able to price check a ton of stuff, however, nothing new to report and all the prices were higher than those listed here.

I hit my local Sears store (the one in Antioch Shopping Center for my fellow Kansas City CAGs). I dug through the $19.99 or less clearance bin and to my surprise found a copy of Rachet and Clank for the PSP! There was no sticker on it so I took it to the electronics cashier. He scanned it and it came up $39.99. I told him I got it out of the bin and he said he needed to get the manager. The manager came over and said that game wasn't supposed to be in there because it's too new. I told him that's not my problem. I told him it doesn't matter how it got there, the sign says $19.99 or under and I wanted it for that price.

They refused to adjust the price and of course locked the game in the case. Of note I saw:
Metroid Prime (GC) for $4.97
Lego Star Wars II (I think it was the second one) 360 for $19.99
NFL Gameday 95 for the PS1 for $14.99 (I can't believe they still have PS1 games!):whistle2:&
Damn, what an arse.

I'm the ass because I wanted the store to honor their advertised price? It's not like I yelled at the guy or anything. I was just pointing out that I found the game in the bin marked $19.99 or under. Once he said no I dropped it and that was that. Maybe they need to pay more attention as to where they put their games. It's one thing if a customer took the game and misplaced it in the $19.99 bin but with Sears IT WAS THE STORE that did it.

They only have the clearance games out in the "open". All of the other regular price games are locked up in the glass case.
I'm the ass because...
Well, maybe I misunderstood what happened in your first post I replied to. Your reply to mine says you dropped it after he said no. That's not what I gathered from your first. I understood that after he denied to sell it for the bargain bin price because it was misplaced, either by an employee or another customer, you then demanded that he do so. Just because (for example) someone picks something up from the new release section and drops it in the bargain bin doesn't mean that they will now magically sell the item for the bargain bin price. Now if the item was actually labeled w/ the wrong price, I could see your argument.

If you indeed did drop it after he said no, I apologize. But that's not what you said you did in your first post.

Sorry I guess I wasn't very clear. Basically what happened was the manager came over and told me the game was misplaced. I did say that it's not my problem and I would like it for the price listed on the bin since I saw it there. He told me no because it was new and not on the clearance list. I said ok. he locked it in the case, and that was that. I may have been a bit of a smart ass saying it's not my problem but being a retail sales veteran I didn't want to be one of "those" customers and give him too much crap.

In most stores I wouldn't have even asked because, like you say, customers leave stuff in the wrong place all the time. In this instance I thought there was a good chance that this game was meant for the clearance as no customer could've gotten it out of the case and put it there.
Sorry I guess...
Ah, OK, that does sound a little different than what I understood earlier.

Of note I saw:
Metroid Prime (GC) for $4.97
Lego Star Wars II (I think it was the second one) 360 for $19.99
NFL Gameday 95 for the PS1 for $14.99 (I can't believe they still have PS1 games!):whistle2:&
I'm going to assume you meant Gameday 2005. If not, then damn.
The only really good Sears near me no longer has it's clearance bin or it's gigantic frontlane display. A few clearance games and all of the FL games were squashed into an aisle of 19.99 and under games. What sucker bought Tourist Trophy for 35 or Call Of Duty 2 for 48 when they can be found for 20 and 30 respectively everywhere else? All of the Gameday 2005s were still there at 15.

This is probably YMMV as it had a closeout sticker over the clearance sticker, but I got two 12 month old xbox live cards with some sort of bag packed in the bottom of the container (haven't opened it yet as I picked it up on the way to work) usually 30 something for 17.97. Worth being a little late.
