They ASM said they were closing and that most stores had come and taken most of what they needed. Unless these next 2 days, which indeed could happen, become full transfer days, I should make out well on Saturday. They still have all the GBA games and DS used games so Im happy either way.
 
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday were full transfer days. All liquidation stores in my district were ordered by the DM to have all systems out of the store before Saturday. They have complied.

I've been shipping things to liquidation stores all day today and yesterday and I'll tell you now - it's shit. It's all shit. The only decent title I've sent off was Heavenly Sword. It's possible you'll find some decent stuff, but don't get your hopes high.
 
This may be a little off-topic, but when do Game Crazy stores usually open? I want to know when to leave Saturday morning, and I'd like to get there 10 minutes or so before opening time. XP Man... It's going to be a madhouse. I can feel it.

9/30/09 Union City NJ - They just received a box (at least I saw 1 box) full of games from other GC. The box was cut opened. It was behind the counter, but the top was flipped open. I saw some Batmans for PS3 and Xbox, NFS Shift, some DS games and I think a PS3 slim.

This store is definite not closing and they are receiving items from other stores.

Thanks for the warning. :D I wouldn't say my expectations are really that high. I mean, I can't see myself walking out with NOTHING, as I've passed up quite a few games these past few years, especially for my Xbox/PS2. I would be happy to find a few gems, but like I said, if I can just find a couple games I wanted to, but never got the opportunity to play, that would be great. :3

Starting Saturday ALL GC's that are closing will be open Noon-8pm.

all i know is the gamecrazy that closed near me about 2 years ago hit 90 on the last day and i did pretty good. over 50 games for 90.00 dollars

A: You should expect older product. Closing stores have been ordered to ship newer games and systems off to stores that aren't closing and stores that aren't closing have been ordered to ship $18.99 new/cheaper used games to the stores that are starting a liquidation.

the store at Cape is closing. Fenton should not be participating, as I think their inventory has already been transferred. other than that, all other stores in MO are staying open

I know not to expect a PSPGo. But you said newer games and systems were shipped off. Could I go and find a PSP fat or DS fat or maybe even a PS2 fat?

We shipped ALL of our systems. Don't expect to see a PSP fat, DS fat, PS2 fat, Xbox, Game Cube, etc. No systems at all remained in our store except for our interactives which I don't believe are in inventory, but are still property of the store and Microsoft/Nintendo/Sony.

I understand now what you guys have been saying. It's a chance for GC to clear out years old non wanted games.

The one near me is still open I go there from time to time. But I'm still bitter about the LBP pre-order. I don't hold it against the locals, but rather corporate, so I do shop there, just not as often.

So will MVP transfer to other stores, I actually was never given an MVP card, and will the MVP discount apply on clearanced used items ?

MVP will work at other stores. They'll ask for your phone # and you should show up. If I were you I'd go to the "new" store and check to make sure that your account shows up. If it doesn't show, then they can call up the store where your account is at for the info. If you wait until after it closes, you could be SOL.

As far as MVP stacking with clearance, my guess would be no. Maybe Scorch or Joe can help with that.

23 and gratiot in chesterfield will be it. the rest are closing in macomb county. thats what 2 stores told me :cry:

Thats what I was told today, too. The GC on Dix in Lincoln Park is closing, and they've got nothing left. It's almost not worth it to me to go tomorrow when the sale starts. The only thing I spotted was a set of Wii Rock Band drums. Once they go 80% off, I'm cleaning out their guides.

MVP didn't stack during the last round of closings, so I really doubt it would now.

The store in Oak Ridge, TN is staying open. I was there last night and they had a couple big boxes behind the counter. I guess they're starting to get stuff from others stores.

I had 6.99 in store credit, they told me they couldn't put the 99 cents on the gift card, even if I gave them a penny. Then I told them I just wanted my cash since it's a gift card under $10 (which the law allows) and they told me I'd have to call it in and get a check mailed to me. Instead, I took it to a different store and they gave me it with no hassle.

I look forward to Hollywood Video going out of business next, good riddance.

With the way businesses are going bankrupt or getting bought out, it doesn't seem so impossible that we could be seeing one massive conglomerate make everything in the world (like Buy N Large in Wall-E).
 
Well, looks like the nearest GC thats closing is just too far out of the way. Hope people will be able to find some good deals.
 
As much as I love these clearance sales I can't help but think it sucks for any store to close, or any work place in general. This country is already losing tons of jobs, and It's pretty bad when companies that pay little are closing even more.

Of course at the same time I always see openings at McDonalds and pretty much every fast food joint. I guess the shitty jobs continue to exist :p
 
Wonder if it's going to be worth it to make the drive out. Nearest GC that's closing is about a 20 minute drive. :cold:
 
Stopped by the Game Crazy in Blaine, MN (which is staying open) and they had piles of boxes that they were filling with games to ship to the closing stores for the sale -- while at the same time they were receiving boxes from those stores.

They told me that the closing stores were under orders to send to them any item valued at more than $29.99 -- including new and used games, as well as any consoles. The only consoles he knew the closing stores might have were old Gameboys.
 
anyone know if the store in North haven CT is closing. I learned today that you wont get a answer if you ask a store if they are going out of business -_-

MVP is starting to stack with trade promos.. for example, GC gives 20% more if you trade it towards a new release game.. for MVP customers, they give 30.

And I keep telling you guys, they're shipping shit out left and right. They posted a memo on the intranet saying stores can only send out 38 transfers in a day (or some random oddball number like that). The liquidation stores won't be worth going to at all. It's going to be a bunch of shit games.

Unless you slept through the last 5 years, then enjoy Madden 2005 and NBA Live 2005 at discounted prices :whee:
 
Just called my Game Crazy on Hampton in Dallas, TX. They are one of the stores that is closing. But the manager told me the sale isn't going to start until Monday, October 5.
 
Talked to a guy at the Santa Clara, CA store and he said that the only ones in the San Jose area staying open are the ones in Los Gatos and the 370 N Capital Ave locations.
