The list of closing GC stores here:

Welcome! I've got a FAQ-in-progress on the second post, so go ahead and read through that and hopefully it answers whatever questions you may have about Game Crazy's trade-ins. You can also find a list of guides that you can buy for $0.01 (yes, a penny) at Game Crazy (thanks to IAmTheCheapestGamer).

Anyway, I'm pretty much going to do the same work JP is doing. Post your TiVs from Game Crazy here and I'll update. Simple.

I'll also be posting GC's latest promotions, offers, and price drops (if Scorch posts any new drops, then they'll be added here) Thanks, Scorch!

*DISCLAIMER* These prices and dates are supplied by the CAG community, and as such there aren't always regular updates on every title. The dates at the edge of each game give an idea of when it last received that amount. If the quote is older than 3 days, the likelihood is that the value went down. Not always the case but something to keep in mind. These values are always just a way to give an idea of what to expect, not actual returns. There is no guarantee involved that these prices are 100% accurate.
As far as I can tell, the ski-doo xbox 360 doesn't show up on the iphone app.

I can confirm that the dark spire is now most likely in every GS system and probably Space chimps too.

2 more good flips are these:

http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=72796

and

http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=74041

Both trade in for about $14 used so if you can find them used, good luck. I'll have confirmation on emma in the mountains later tonight and I know track & field does indeed trade in for that much.
I can confirm Emma in the Mountains. I've traded in 2 already for 13.64 at Hollywood Vid not GC. I was denied trading in space chimps at GC but it was accepted at HWV the same day. This was maybe 9 days ago.
Not even PS2 stuff? I have been holding out for TR:Anniversary.
Well, I braved the rain this weekend and went to 4 GCs around the area.

The ones on Manassas and Centreville were pretty wiped. Esp. the one in Manassas.

The one Annandale and Potomac Yard Gamecrazys still had A LOT of stuff (as of Sat. afternoon).

The PYard one is one of those gut everything stores so all the new games were gutted and mixed in on the shelves with the used ones. If you searched a little, they had a lot of "new" gutted PS2 stuff ... Soul Nomad, Atelier Iris, Mana Khemia x2, Tales of Legendia, Shadow of Rome, and a lot of others I don't remember. I did NOT buy anything there as I already have all of those but these are still good titles. Especially for 50% off starting today.

The 360 and PS3 stuff was a little more limited but not a bad amount of inventory still left there. It's just that they've all been gutted and mixed in with the used games.

The GC in Annandale was the BEST one of the four. Lots of inventory there still. They had a decent amount of PS2 stuff still new and sealed. The 360 selection was pretty good. The smallest sections were PSP and DS stuff. I only bought a new Rule of Rose and TR Legend (360) there so there's probably a lot left. Not many people were at that one.

Keep in mind, these are still clearance closeout stores so don't get too hyped thinking you'll find new release stuff but I think there's good stuff to be had still at PY and Annandale. Good luck.

Excellent report.

I am planning on heading to both the PY and Annandale locations on Wednesday. I really shouldnt be buying games right now, so its no big deal if theyre cleaned out by the time I get there...

Enjoy Legend, it was the game that restored my faith in Lara Croft and the reason I am looking for Anniversary.

I'll be heading to the GC in Portland (Gateway) to see if it's been ransacked yet. I went a few times when it was 30% off and they still had a few games I'd buy for a few bucks left. Hopefully they haven't boxed those up or sold them.

First post, BTW \\:D/
I'm just hoping to find things that GS will give me >$2 for. Bigs, Crackdown, Enchanted Arms, etc. At 50% off, it will be a real good way to move credit.
and this my friends is what we call... wasting time and effort. lol save your gas.

some of you are ridiculous with your tivs. If you put nearly as much effort into your career you probably wouldn't have to stoop to this nickle and dime crap. Just a thought...

oh well... at least it's GS you're getting over on. I hate that store. :)

Can confirm 50% off. Employees said they weren't sure if they were going higher, but either way they're closing in 5 days.
Can confirm 50% off. Employees said they weren't sure if they were going higher, but either way they're closing in 5 days.
the store near barely had anything weeks ago at 30%.

I picked up the following at a soon to be gone Gamecrazy store: (2) Pelican Leather Gloves for the GBA SP at $0.50 each and Both sets (1 & 2) of Super Mario Bros 3 E-Reader card sets at 0.50 each. Both brand new and sealed. Everything else was bleh.

So, confirmation on the Annandale/Alexandria store, it is 50% off (though the sign outside still only says 30%). It's actually still got a lot of worthwhile stuff for 360/PS3/PS2/GC/Xbox, and some Wii stuff as well. I only got two things, because most of what they had was worthwhile stuff I already HAVE.

I may swing by again tomorrow after checking out reviews on a few games I saw that I'm not sure about...since I've never been one for flipping, I'll only get games I would consider playing.

Went to the GC on Little Creek in Virginia Beach today, 50% off confirmed and the inventory was still pretty decent. The guy behind the counter was pretty cool about the store closing and gave some recommendations on the games remaining. All and all worth the trip. I only picked up three items, but plan on visiting another one in the area tomorrow on the way home from work. BTW Accessories are included in the clearance.

Stopped by my local store and picked up a few things at 50% to flip. I'll probably go back tomorrow too and get a few more things. One of note is Pokemon Battle Revolution for around $20. That'll probably be to keep tho.

Yes, starting Yesterday (October 19th) all Liquidation stores are at the 50% off, granted who knows their status in this final week, as some of you guys are reporting stores beginning to shut down. I have a sneaky feeling that could be the reason why our District Manager could be heading up to our store this week.

We still have some good "oldies" or titles that you should give a try for the low low price...
(these are ones I've been suggesting)

ALL USED PRICES BEFORE THE 50% OFF
Marvel Ultimate Alliance (360) - $4.99
Perfect Dark Zero (360) - $4.99
Frontlines: Fuel of War (360) - $12.99
Mass Effect (360) - $14.99
Forza Motorsports 2 (360) - $4.99
Lego Indiana Jones (360) - $9.99
Splinter Cell: Double Agent (360) - $7.99
Call of Duty 2 (360) - $9.99
Final Fantasy XII (PS2) - $9.99
Grand Theft Auto 4 (360/PS3) - $14.99
Guitar Hero 2 GAME ONLY (360) - $9.99
Rainbow Six: Vegas (PS3/360) - $9.99
Rock Band GAME ONLY (PS3) - $14.99
Devil May Cry 4 (360) - $12.99
Condemned 2: Bloodshot (360/PS3) - $12.99
Resident Evil 5 (360/PS3) - $19.99
Mercenaries 2: World In Flames (360/PS3) - $14.99

Hopefully these give you guys some idea if you wanna check stuff out
Also if your looking for DS & Wii Stuff, those are selling out of our store like hotcakes, I wouldn't expect a large library of them when you walk into the store, we have like under 10 Wii and 10 DS games left in ours

Swiped Call of Duty 4 LE, Crysis SE, C&C Kane Edition, Red Alert 3 Premier Edition, and Sam & Max Season One (all PC) for about $96 from the Nashville location at 50% off. Probably shouldn't have spent the money, ah well. There are still a few good things at both the Nashville and Brentwood locations, still a few Collector's Edition doodads at the Nashville spot for those of you into that sort of thing, but I think I'm gonna shrug it off from here unless they survive for an 80%. The games were "gutted" by the way, but my lady (who kindly acquired them for me) said they were otherwise intact and in good condition.

Well, there are still a few hundred 360 discs at the GC in Portland that is closing. About half are 06-07 sports titles and Kung Fu Panda, though. Still, a handful of titles I'd get for 80% off, so I hope they go to that before they close.

I'll keep checking this thread.

my one local closing store shut down early. they didnt pay their rent and were locked out by the building owner. i would definitely call ahead to make sure your location is still open before wasting time/gas.

are they even planning on having the 80% off? I assume it's on a store-by-store basis, depending on sales and remaining stock. The worker I spoke to told me that they weren't going to, but plans changed already before since they did 30% for 2 weeks and are currently planning to just stay at 50% till closing.

anyone have additional input on if there will be 80% off or not? thanks

Anyone from Portland/Beaverton have a more detailed report on those stores? I'm in the area for training and debated checking them out.

This seems to be happening quite a bit lately. Especially at hollywoods around here. My store is closing and the store I'm transferring to just got an eviction notice on their door.
I've got a really bad feeling that the next week is going to be rough for a lot of people

Picked up Prototype for 17.99 used 360, new is 19.99. for the PS3 it went from 59 to 49, so I guess PS3 games are holding their value a little more, good thing I have both systems.

I went to 4 stores in San Diego area (El Cajon blvd, Palomar St, Highland Ave, and 13th Street in IB) and nothing good mostly 2007-2008 sports games with a few copies of Turok and Lair thrown in. Though I did pick up a Nyko Media hub for the PS3 for $8, it sells for $19.99 on Amazon

Hit up the Game Crazy at 3707 W WILLIAM CANNON DR in Austin, TX today. It was picked over clean and most of the stuff they had was used without the manual or original case. Needless to say, I didn't pick anything up. They said they sent most of their stock to the Game Crazy at William Cannon and I-35.

I went back today and picked up a couple more things to flip (WWE 08 & other things that'll give me ~5>9) as well as Pokemon Battle Revolution for $20 & Super Mario Galaxy for $17.50. I just got my Wii last week, mostly from flipping stuff from GC>GS so it's nice to have games for it now.
re5 went up to 35 used..

or did it stay at 20 used at liquidation stores?
It might of went back up, but we sold our last one a few days ago...

Also, Scorch, have you heard anything about they are extending the liquidation stores up to 6 more weeks? I got a call from a co-worker saying that our store is remaining open till December now....though I wanna say that my leg is being pulled. I'll find out tonight.

I've heard rumors of "outlet stores" could be that
i wouldnt get my hopes up

good luck

Just asking...

Is Gamecrazy closing because customers' lack of willingness to trade-in games, and GC's lack of ability in reselling those games?

If so, why don't these companies make policy to give more value for trade-ins?

The vibe I'm getting is general mis-management on the corporate end. I could be wrong, though.

I finally got back to the closing store near me last night, but the two items I was interested in (Halo 3 Legendary, the only one I've seen in a store in a long long time, and 12 month Live subscription) both were sold before it hit 50%. There were a couple of tempting items, used Burnout Revenge (360) would have been $7.50, and used Metal Gear Solid Essentials would have been $8, but I decided to pass... for now.

Picked up some old xbox 1 games as well as some 360 games. I'm usually late to the party when it comes to sales like these, but I lucked out this time and got some of the games I've been eyeballing for a long time.

GC in general gave more value for trade ins than GS, so that's not it.

They have been mishandling the whole GC brand wrong for a long time and it basically took Movie Gallery buying them and coming out of bankruptcy for them to realize that they have been stupid and can't continue on the way they were. Thus closing down a ton of under performing stores.

During the 4.99 sale this you could get wwe vs raw 09 for 4.99 at hollywood viedo and trade it in at game crazy for 15.00 credit. I'm sure flippers from CAG didn't sink the company, but it is a symptom of the poor foresight on managements part. Now it worries me that they believe Game Crazys can stand alone as profitable entites when they've never had to pay for their own rent. I like Hollywood Video though, they are the only local video/game place in our town.

The manager at my local store talks openly about why (he was told) his store was closing. That particular store wasn't making enough incidental sales - that is, they weren't bringing in new customers. The other stores around here are in shopping centers, or right next to grocery stores. But my local store is the only thing in it's area. There used to be a grocery store, but it closed years ago.

But who knows if it's true or if they just wanted to tell him something other than the company is losing money like crazy.
GameCrazy is shrinking primarily because it is harder to copy GameStop's business model than it looks.
It's tough to compete when the tools you're using are from the last century.

Scanning UPC codes from a print-out for deals? Come on now, there is so much potential for fail there it isn't funny. How many times did customers have to fight with store employees to get them to honor promos?

No web-site sales? Can't go online to see what a local store may have? Jeez, they've probably lost countless sales that way.

When you do something half-assed, you usually have your ass handed to you.

Just found my store is staying open past the 25th. It is the 22nd, and we literally JUST found out that we aren't closing on the 25th as we were scheduled to. The actual closing date is now completely up in the air without so much as an estimate for when we will actually close. Still no news on the 80% discount, but I can't imagine it's too far off.

As for the past few posts, I can definitely confirm that just about every problem this company has had leading up to these store closings and in all likelihood eventually leading to the company going under completely is courtesy of absolute mismanagement above store level.

I can't remember the last time any promotion, new function in the system, or change in procedure started without some sort of huge technical issue that took days to fix and caused all sorts of headaches. We just laugh these days when things go wrong. It's a huge joke to us at this point. It seems like every day the company does something so inept and ridiculous that we are certain nothing will top it, and the next day something inevitably does top it.

So yeah, there is no question why this company (not just GC, either; Hollywood and Movie Gallery too) is failing. They have been completely mismanaged for years. The higher ups just don't have a clue how to catch up to the times, they wait far too long to try to compete with new business models, and they react hastily and foolishly to each new problem without ever considering the obvious consequential new problem that will arise as a result of solving the old problem the way they did.

He's not pulling your leg. This entire thing is a clusterfuck.

How bizarre, so they are paying staff, rent, utilities, with little to no remaining stock to sell. Looks like they fired the guy at corporate who's responsibilities included firing all the remaining staff, and forgot to tell his replacement what to do.
He's not pulling your leg. This entire thing is a clusterfuck.
Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. So that extension thing IS true? :D Seems like the 80% off WILL happen, then! :O Someone notify the OP, and/or change the thread title to reflect the extensions.
How bizarre, so they are paying staff, rent, utilities, with little to no remaining stock to sell. Looks like they fired the guy at corporate who's responsibilities included firing all the remaining staff, and forgot to tell his replacement what to do.
It might be a coup.

Not all of the stores are staying open past the date and they haven't given any sort of definite date for closing. Could be an extra couple days, could be an extra couple months.

As for stoned99's comment, there's more to it than that. Game Crazy stores are in Hollywood Video and technically don't contribute to the rent payment. If the HV is still under contract, they aren't going to shut everything down and still pay the rent unless the store is making so little that they aren't covering the cost of product and payroll (VERY unlikely). The utilities are also tied to HV, so those are no extra cost to GC.

The thing is, these stores are clearing out crap at a pretty decent rate. My store is pulling in anywhere from $500-$1000 a day, open only 8 hours, with everything 50% off. When you take into account that the average payroll cost is under $150 a day and all of the product being sold is crap that was taking up space and not selling at other locations, it makes sense to keep some of these stores going. We're out of several 360 titles that we started with over 50 copies of and we're actually selling PS2 and GBA stuff.

Lots of things that this company does make no sense, but keeping these stores open to make SOME money off of the junk is, for once, not a bad idea. Now if only they could get a handle on communication with their employees so they actually knew what was going on...

I drove by my Hollywood Video today on the corner of Katella and Tustin in Orange, CA with a GameCrazy attached/inside or whatever... And I noticed it said "Store Closing" plastered all over the place. It looked dark so it might already be closed, and whether that applied to just the GameCrazy or both the GameCrazy and the Hollywood Video I don't know. I didn't have time to hang a u-turn and go in or to see what was still open. Anyone know anything more about this location?
