The list of closing GC stores here:

Welcome! I've got a FAQ-in-progress on the second post, so go ahead and read through that and hopefully it answers whatever questions you may have about Game Crazy's trade-ins. You can also find a list of guides that you can buy for $0.01 (yes, a penny) at Game Crazy (thanks to IAmTheCheapestGamer).

Anyway, I'm pretty much going to do the same work JP is doing. Post your TiVs from Game Crazy here and I'll update. Simple.

I'll also be posting GC's latest promotions, offers, and price drops (if Scorch posts any new drops, then they'll be added here) Thanks, Scorch!

*DISCLAIMER* These prices and dates are supplied by the CAG community, and as such there aren't always regular updates on every title. The dates at the edge of each game give an idea of when it last received that amount. If the quote is older than 3 days, the likelihood is that the value went down. Not always the case but something to keep in mind. These values are always just a way to give an idea of what to expect, not actual returns. There is no guarantee involved that these prices are 100% accurate.
Yeah, that's really a bit overboard. If GC keeps getting raped 10 times over on these kind of flips, GC will close down completely.
GC closing was inevitable the minute they stopped taking in classic games, and now there's nothing to separate them from the more powerful Gamestop (in the eyes of the average consumer, at least). It's just a matter of how long it takes.

I signed up for the GC newsletter yesterday, but I haven't received the 30% off coupon yet. Does anyone know how long it takes for GC to email the coupon to me?

3-5 days is what i've heard, it varies

I signed up for the newsletter a few days ago and got the coupon, so just give it a couple of days, it'll show up.

I've made a killing off Target clearance, which is not usually very good in Phoenix. Cloudy With A Chance of Meatball & the Bigs 2 for both 360/PS3 for a $100-->$300 GC credit flip. I've been to about 10 local Targets, so I've put in some time, but only took 2 trades to cash out (no more than 2 copies of the same title/console per trade). Not quite the Pipe Mania level of trade, but higher return if you are looking for a quicker build. The GI Joe Movie Game, Skate 2, and G-Force are also profitable flips. Oh yeah, and I was using the $10 off 2 coupon @ Target.

I signed up for the newsletter about 7-10 days ago, finally got my email coupon last night.

On the flipping subject, I'm not trying to abuse policy, I always flip one copy of a title at a time. But I had never bought anything at GC ever, until this thread got started a couple months ago. Without the flips, they wouldn't get any business from me. I do agree it's a little ridiculous when people trade in 5 or 10 copies of a game. But it's silly that GC let's them do it. I don't want to see the company go under, or my local store close, but if they more closely enforced their own 2 copy limit, they wouldn't have a big problem. So I have mixed feelings on the subject, I guess.

My thanks to the people who have posted deals here, and I also suggest we keep the bragging to a minimum to avoid encouraging the hoarding/raping.

Killzone 2 ---- 16.00
Demon's Souls ------ 25.00

Scorch, when does the extra 30% trade in start? BF ad doesn't say. I assume it will be friday.

The deal is listed under the Thursday thru Sunday banner.

For the steelbook collectors out there, GC is selling the Turning Point CE (360) for $9.99 brand new and includes a steelbook case, soundtrack, and artbook. Picked one up earlier.

Does the Ipod match up with titles that are still being/not being taken as trade ins anymore or can there be discrepancies?
let me get this straight you guys are upset that i am taking advantage of a company that makes it's money giving people 30 dollars for game they bought for 60 and reselling them for 50 dollars??? I think flipping is just leveling the playing field.
I'm not upset because of flipping. I'm upset because of the abuse. If you wanna trade-in 2 copies of Pipe Mania ($3 @ GS = $20 @ GC) and 2 copies of Steambot ($18 @ GS = $36 @ GC) then great! Spending $21, to get a $56 store credit is what CAG is all about (brag to your friends how you spent $25 to get COD or Assassin's Creed)... but when one person exploits one flip (14 Pipe Manias) to such an extreme, it raises red flags.

I have been flipping Ski-Doo at GC for over six months because I only sell 1 per week AND to different stores. It's not easy finding flips, so I'm upset that people aren't smart enough to avoid drawing a store's attention about flips. Too many flips of the same game within a small period of time shortens the life of the flip!!!

Personally, I will continue to flip at GC, GS, Amazon, whatever. Flipping has allowed me to get every new release of the past 4 months for practically free, but I won't share my finds because I would like the flip opportunity to last for more than 1 or 2 weeks.

I'll wrap this up with an analogy: taking medicine when you're sick is good, you get better. But if you take more medicine than the prescribed amount, they call it an overdose! Get the point?

I'm not sure how you managed to find one "brand new" since it was a Gamestop exclusive. GameCrazy never had that brand new, only used.. so you probably had someone take one in on trade and put the new disc inside or something. Was it sealed?

..are you serious? The deal is sitting right under a "Thursday through Sunday" header.

oops, just saw that Papa Smurf already answered. Sorry!

And like the other guy said.. for me personally, I'm not upset about the flipping. I've let people flip at my store because I know that's exactly what they're doing. Target clearance games come in all the time, as do cheap things from GS. I don't really care. It's the abuse that pisses me off. If you want to flip one or two things a week, that's fine. But when you bring in 5+ copies of any title, fuck off.

Scorch, my GC here in Renton was selling "brand new" ones (yes, sealed) for $9.99. They had more than one copy, too. If it's a GS exclusive, then I guess the UPS guy must have dropped a package or two at the wrong location...

Hey scorch,

I have a solo copy of pipe maina and was wondering if I should hurry and trade it in today or wait till the 30%. I want to wait for the 30% because I plan on trading more games in then, but because of this abuse, I am afraid if I wait, pipe manias value will be a lot lower by then.

Advice?

The Game Crazy I used to work at had 3-4 copies of the Steelbook as well, all brand new. I almost bought one because I'm a sucker for CE/SteelBooks, but I figured the game was too crappy, even at $10. Probably gone now, as that was back in August, but they have had them for a while.

Edit:Amazon has them as well. GS probably had something included in their CE that made it exclusive.

I've been hunting for steelbooks as of late, and my first stop today was at GC. Saw Turning Point CE for $18.99, but rang up for $9.99. No matter how crappy a game may be, I'd still get its steelbook even though I won't play it. I'm just a nut for these things. =p

I agree that raising flags would be a bad thing, hence the reason i went to 6 different GC stores, i don't agree with the medicine analogy though. They have rules in place to stop abuse and as long as i stay within the GC's own guideline i don't see how it's a problem.

just joined and your first post is this -

"was able to flip 14 pipe manias and 8 steambot chronicles today. I can confirm the pipe mania's are still 9.09 tiv and steambot is still 16.xx. had to hit up 5 Gamestops and 4 Game crazys to get it..."

16/4 is 4 per store
contributing to this site Vs
abusing info and then bragging about it would be something to consider.

I found a good one at Target today (2x)...may post later... I'm in the camp bothered by the lurkers/abusers...

i just don't get it GC and GS are have both built up their businesses by ripping people, the sell "new" copies of games that are open already for full price, they only knock off 5 or 10 dollars if you buy games used. I have no problem posting every flip i can find to share with all. They set the price they will pay for a game, i don't. If they are willing to pay more than other retailers are selling them for so be it.

stupid question

how do u guys find these "flips"?

like i mean pipe mania, i never heard of this game until i saw it here, etc etc,

is there a secret website or a GC psychic?, or just calling GC with cheap GS games?

There is an ihpone app you can check game crazy trade in price

I suggest all talk of flip abuse be done with for now. Lets just leave it at what it currently is. Just don't post that you traded in 10 copies per store or anything like that. If you want GC to remain open past the new year, limit yourself. Killing them will not help in the long run. Blockbuster is on the way out, and so is hollywood. Pretty soon, all go places to flip will disappear unless we just simply control ourselves.

Just a suggestion.

What day does GC update TIVs? I also don't know whether to wait until BF for 30% or just sell now.

And does anyone know if the value on the Ipod is always legit, as in if they don't take a game anymore or the value has dropped the Ipod will show this every time?

I was there yesterday, :wii: MPT was no longer $25 but rang at $49.99, bought Punch Out! for $25 new, and they had a sign up for 3 for $10 on all original Xbox games.

ok, THIS IS MY LAST POST about flipping... promise!! :applause:

TECHNICALLY (or even legally) you did nothing wrong. What you (not you personally, but the collective abusers) did was to help alert GC to the fact that they had a mis-priced TiV. Now, they will act to remove this loophole (and if they are smart, look for other mis-priced TiVs). So now, we (us fellow CAG'ers) probably won't be able to use this flip to pay for new releases in Dec, Jan, Feb, etc... Personally, I won't miss the Pipe Mania flip, I follow selling prices at over 85 stores, flip to 9 different companies and have over 100 flip candidates (my friends call me a "video game day-trader"). That's more than enough to keep me and my nephew gaming for free, but the collective CAG will probably miss that flip (500% flip is RARE!!!). I think a better idea would have been for you to spread your 14 flips over 10+ weeks.

From the GC point of view, I'm pretty sure they won't miss the losses sustained from buying 200-300 copies of Pipe Mania per month (about $3,000 across the entire company). But I'm willing to bet my ass, they will surely notice when they lose $100,000 during the month of November because they bought 10,000 copies of some old PS2 game.

So... since you didn't like the medicine analogy, try this: you can sheer a sheep for life, but you can only eat lamb chops once. Better?

Actually, the company that owns Hollywood Video/Game Crazy/Movie Gallery is hurting majorly financially. From what I've heard, last year Game Crazy was the only one that showed profits, and those profits were eaten by the losses taken by the other two. While GC branch may not feel a loss of $3000, the company surely will.
i just don't get it GC and GS are have both built up their businesses by ripping people, the sell "new" copies of games that are open already for full price, they only knock off 5 or 10 dollars if you buy games used. While I somewhat understand this mentality, it completely misses the obvious point that THIS IS A BUSINESS FOR THEM. They employ thousands of people as a company, so they need a way to make money.
Brand new games/hardware have such a low profit margin. They are sold basically to bring you in the store, get you loyal to the company. They pay $50+ for a game from the company, and sell it for $60, so there isn't a high profit.
Used games, however, are where they make their money. They give you $30 for a game, and sell it for $50. They make more money selling used games, that is why it is such a big push for them to sell them.
Are you forced to accept $30 in store credit for your game? No, so there is no need to take offense. It is an offer. They are not forcing you to accept $30 any more than they force you to pay $60 for something brand new on their shelf. If you don't want to pay $60, you walk out the door. Don't want to accept $30? Follow the same path.

The reason Toys R Us and Amazon and Best Buy can offer higher values on used games is because they make money in other areas. Come in the store, get tempted to buy a new TV or computer. Gamestop/Game Crazy does not have that going. They make their money on used games and that's about it.

Managed one more copy of Pipe Mania from my local GS (hiding in the "Under $20 rack) and traded in to GC (duh).

Whoever found these flips is in a love-hate position for me right now. I love the fact that they're making it so easy for me to build up GC credit (I actually go there quite often- the employees are great), but I know there are WAY too many people taking CRAZY advantage of them... Really- 14 copies of Pipe Mania, and 8 Ski Doos? That's WAY overboard, and things like that are going to drive even more GC stores to close.

In all honesty, though- if I were presented the opportunity to trade in that many at a time... I definitely would. I mean, the margin of profit is just way too tempting. 14 PMs at ~35 w/tax and 8 Ski Doos at about ~45 w/tax: $140 + $120 - $80 = ~$180 in credit/profit. I mean... If GC is just going to let people go on with trading in games like those at $10 a pop, they deserve the damage that's being done. If they were really worried about the TIV of these games, they DEFINITELY should have / would have done something by now- and like Scorch said, they're aware of it, and they SHOULD be fixing it soon. If they don't, they can't expect people to not take further advantage of the situation. End of story.

Traded 2 pipe mania and steambot with the + 30 % towards L4D2 purchase. Total paid for l4d2 was about $20, but plan on return it so I can re-buy when the price drops to $15 less. Still have another steambot and pipe but will wait till later to traded in at a GC that's close to my work, since the one by my house already had four pipe manias prior to my 2.

Wait, they'll let you trade in games for another game at +30% of their value, and let you return it without deducting anything?

Geez! Who's in charge of their policies?

Question:

HWV shares the same.. value system as HWV, correct?

So, for example, during a HWV Black Friday Sale where the prices of.. Punch-Out, Prototype and Brawl are dropped, I could get them at HWV too?

(Note, the HWV I go to is one with a Game Zone, no GC)

i actually agree with you on that point. i was under the impression that they quickly fixed these flip anomalies so it was best to get what you can while you can. If that is not the case and it works as you say you all have my apology. I will flip slowly from now, thanks for the heads up.
Wait, they'll let you trade in games for another game at +30% of their value, and let you return it without deducting anything?

I've traded in towards a game to get the bonus a few times and never really thought of returning the game just assuming that could not be possible. Especially since they will let you trade in an amount over the price of the game itself. If it were like the GameStop promos where you trade in 3 for a free game, at least the damage is limited with a return. In this case GameCrazy could potentially be giving away free credit. I am making one more trade run today. Perhaps I will ask how they deal with returns.

The HWV I frequent had a sale going on ($5 each for all games priced 15 and under), and I noticed the 13 copies of Pipe Mania that I flipped sitting out in the PS2 section. Five dollars each. I could have easily raped the system again.

I think they'd get wise to it pretty quickly, but it's fun to dream. This is just payback for all the HWV late fees and the poor TIVs (like the kid mentioned earlier who couldn't afford the 360) I've suffered over the years. But with the company not doing too well, maybe I'd better use my store credit soon.

Wish I still had a GC around me to take advantage of any of these bf deals they are going to have. Still got credit I will probably never be able to use again. T___T

i traded in 14 copies of pipe mania for 10 each, then i went to more gs and bought 7 more. Then when I went back to gc he was like yeah the trade in value went to 7.20 or 8 with mvp because we got so many copies. So i spent 35 and got 196 instore credit
