I think the local game crazy is closing soon. Today I saw empty shelf, stuff being packed away and they have no used console.
 
I just realized that Treasure World (DS) would make a good flip right now- but today is probably the last day.

It's $9.99 new at Gamestop, $8.99 used, and trades in at $16.25 with the 30% promotion going on right now. Tomorrow you'd only be making pocket change after tax.

I know. Literally about every other time I go in there the computer is frozen or tech support needs to be called. Those guys must field alot of calls. Today they couldn't place my balance on my gift card and had to call (it was resolved, although there's no phone# or website to check my balance).

Scorch, is there some kind of policy that does not allow a store to put your trade credit on a gift card. A store on Freeport in Sacramento will never do it for me, saying it is considered a "cash" transaction or something. I feel like they are BSing me cause its the only store to refuse to give me my credit on a gift card.

They're BSing you. Credit leaving the store on a giftcard is revenue the manager will be losing from his store, since you won't spend the money there. It ultimately hurts their bottom line and they're watching out for thir own store.
 
My GF never had any good stock of ps2 or Gamecube games, but now I don't even have a GF within 30 miles of me anymore, so I guess I can't complain :D
 
Sorry if this has been posted already, but I just got an email from GC & they're giving a 20% trade-in boost if you buy Darksiders between 1/5 & 1/10. It actually *stacks* with MVP, so you can get 30% that way.

Today I tried calling the mvp plus program to avoid charges and it took about 10 minutes more than I expected. The person kept saying I'm going to leave the account open and you can enjoy the benefits, on the fifth try they were upset and finally canceled it. Anyone have this problem?

Nope just told them I dont use the benefit and cancel it right away

Yup. That's about what my experience was. It took forever and I eventually I was so pissed off that I asked to talk to a manager. At least they seemed to be pretty reasonable to talk to.

I also got hassled by the phone reps on multiple occasions, who I might add barely spoke any English so it was like they had an excuse to say stuff like, "We will keep your account active and let you try it more, okay?". I'd respond no I wanted it canceled immediately and then another comment from them about keeping it open. I had to call 3-4 times to get it canceled and even then I was worried they didn't tell me the truth.

I know they are trying to make a buck, but the MVP Plus program is not beneficial for someone like me. Maybe if I went out of my way to break even on the deal. If they offered more GC exclusives as part of the deal, similar to how only MVP's get the B2G1's, then I might bite on it. I don't need an entertainment book type of service out of them, I can find others much cheaper and more effective.
 
GC have had amazing limited time price drops in past 2-3 months of what we have seen, with scorch posting those right away to help the community....It seems that GC has got good sale done during Christmas and they are not doing those exciting limited time price drops any more.

Yeah, those great price drops were the only things I've ever bought from GC, so that tells you a lot when you consider how much I spend on games in a year. GC is only getting a tiny percentage of my budget, and none for the past 1+ month now.

Not a lot of people know this, but the MVP Plus program and the VIP program from F.Y.E./Sam Goody/Suncoast are (from what I can tell) the same thing. $11.99 a month, benefits elsewhere, coupons, etc. The only real reason you would want it is if you take full advantage of it in every location you can- which is actually kind of a lot, but nobody ever bothers to check the list in which it works. Still, though, I had no problems canceling my VIP before the trial period ended- yeah, the lady was Indian and a bit hard to understand, but I straight-up told her that I didn't want to continue my trial, and she understood. It's not a bad idea, especially if you wait until you can shell out some money to save with it. Like I stated before, though, the problem is that no one uses the card to its full potential.

I can understand that, but we only go out to eat so often, and do so many things that were on that list. Trust me, I looked through that list to see if there was ANYTHING we would use it on, and there just wasn't. Now you have to consider the different demographics, because I've got a young family with a toddler I'm not a swinging single guy. Like anything, for some people it works better than others. If I wanted to go out and spend a bunch of money on stuff it might be more valuable. Most of our money goes towards bills and investments. Our level of entertainment is doing stuff with our child, watching TV, renting a movie. Not a lot in that service for those types of things.
 
If anyone doesn't mind PMing me GC's latest offers or posting them in this topic, I would appreciate it. I could use it to update the OP often since sometimes GC doesn't send me their latest promotions via e-email... something must be screwed up on their end since I've got three e-mails subscribed to their newsletter. The problem is that it's hardly ever updated, now that they've started sending the newsletters. Look at the promotions on there now- they're all outdated, and who's to say the TIVs aren't, too?
 
Product allocations are extremely tight to the point where many stores aren't getting resupplied with product, so you need to buy whatever you want now. I don't see allocations getting any better in the next month or so.

Also, heads up, the company has reached their limit for Dante's Inferno pre-order gifts. You can still pre-order Dante's Inferno, but you are not guaranteed one of the figures.

Alien vs. Predator Hunter Edition preorders have also been cut off completely.

And the company is doing ok, I said what I said because there's a lot of product restrictions right now. I haven't seen a new or used Wii system in a month.
 
Anyone know if this sale is the same as the last one? That is, it's only new copies that are actually on sale? Assassins Creed II for $40 is great, but a used copy for $35 or less would be even better! =)

My GC finally put out strat guides on sale, I was talking to one of the employees a few weeks ago about penny guides so I'm wondering if that sparked the idea. It looks like they're pricing them on their own accord though... still some good deals. Got a KOTOR II guide for $5, and MGS 4 Limited Edition for $15.

My Game Crazy has been pricing guides on their own. I've seen old guides that we to have been pennied. But mine Sells them for $5-10. I'm just glad to be able to get get a copy locally and don't mind the discounted price. I hope the restricted stock isn't an indicator, however I think it started this way for CC. I will have to wait and see, but ours does a ton of business it's the only gaming store in the area for 10 miles and it's always crowded.

Cool. I preordered Dante's Inferno for the Figure(so I can fight him against my War Fig), AvP Hunter's Edition for the Hugger, and the Collector's of Splinter Cell: Conviction too. Include a free toy, then I'm in.

Started to think I'd have to start moving credit over to the other place.
 
With the recent concerns over Movie Gallery's finances and "restructuring," I worry just a bit about the fate of Game Crazy.
 
Hmm if Excitebots and Pikmin still fetch $13+ I might trade in 3x of those to get ACII, that'd be awesome. Would get Avatar too but I'm sure that will drop in price fast and I just got Darksiders and Bayonetta too.

They get about $8 each. I was able to get $13 a few weeks ago by having Gamecrazy match Gamestops promo of "trade 4 get an extra $20" but that promo is over now.
 
Hey Scorch, how long do they hold preorders at GC? I preordered Darksiders and went to pick it up today and they sold out and gave my figure away. WTF!! I was not a happy camper.

This has been a problem with pre-order bonuses from the start. Not enough come in to fill all orders, "extras" are given away by accident, etc.- that's why I never bother pre-ordering anything any more, unless it's something concrete like Amazon's promotional credit.
 
WHOA!

I was checking a trade-in on the iPhone app this morning and there's been a big drop in most trade in values this morning! A lot of the slightly older games that I've checked on have had 1/3rd shaved off overnight. I had two games to trade and it went from $21 credit to $14! Oh well, all good things must end I suppose.
