Selling digital items online safely?

BoogieWithStu

CAGiversary!
So I have a digital download code for an item that is worth $60 new, right now. I want to sell it, but I'm afraid of being scammed. I used to sell codes on eBay (I used to get World of Warcraft CE keys at midnight launch and sell them on eBay for some easy cash) but that was years ago and I don't know if that will work anymore.

I was thinking of selling on Craigslist with PayPal but now all I hear is "NEVER USE PAYPAL BECAUSE THEY CAN JUST TAKE THEIR MONEY BACK" and I don't know if that's true or not.

Safest way would be to find someone locally and do the transaction on-site but with this particular item it'll be tough. It's always a possibility but I'd much rather sell it online. Any suggestions?

Trying selling to a CAG is a good bet.  And regardless of where make sure you get Paypal payment before sending the code.

If you're leery of PayPal (I've never had any issues), you can always ask for an Amazon (or other store) e-gift card to be e-mailed to you first.

I did that recently to buy a SMT IV Club Nintendo code from a fellow CAG.
