UPDATE:
Pre-orders have been reopened until May 30th.
- Single/double decks are sold out but booster boxes and other options are still available.
- You still get all the physical and in-game bonuses when you order.
- New ongoing rewards: for every $5k, an additional common/uncommon foil card

I thought this was a good enough deal to spin off of the mobile sales threads.

Shadow Era is a cross-platform online CCG for iOS/Android/PC/Mac. They are currently running a crowd funding project to launch their physical cards. Every order is immediately matched with the equivalent amount of in-game currency (shadow crystals) and as the funding increases each order gets more bonuses. So far the free stuff includes:

- Codes included with the cards to redeem for equivalent crystals (in addition to the crystal delivered immediately when you order)
- A full set of rare/epic foil cards
- Playmat (mouse pad material)
- Exclusive foil promo card
- Custom counters and tokens
- Collector's Tin
- A set of foil heroes (20 cards)
- Epic In-Game Avatar
- Set of card sleeves

I've been playing this game for the past couple weeks for free and was considering putting some money in, so this was a no-brainer. Free stuff comes with any order (lowest is $10 for a starter deck, shipping included), so this is great for anyone with even a passing interest.

I actually found about this on a whim looking up card games on iOS.

Ended up getting the $20 You and a Friend bundle, mostly to help out their kickstarter-esque promotion rather than to have the game.

For those that just started a new account, there is also a promotion for a free 100-200 crystals. This gives you enough to buy another starter or booster pack. Or you can just sell the cards you get back to the shop and buy singles to strengthen the deck you already have. It's a one time bonus per account, but you can always make alts to try out the other classes.

been playing this game on android/pc from the start. got the 300 bundle to support dev. forums are great for meta and regular tourneys. the design team was taken from the players on the forums. great dev.
 
Went ahead and got the $20 bundle. I hope this takes off, pretty fun. I will bring this up to the owner of the local game store near me.
 
there are tons of Magic rip offs that are still fun to play and have physical cards for the game.
My favorite i can think of off hand...Pimp the Gathering, an "escort" based card fighting game, still fun
 
I've been wanting to play a trading card game for a while now but haven't felt like spending a lot on buying cards, and the free digital ones have a limited selection of free cards or have other limitations. I haven't tried this one yet, but this seems like a good deal, especially with the bonuses. I've actually had an urge to buy a pack or two of physical cards lately, so I might buy one of the bundles even if I don't care too much for the game.

Also, does it say anywhere how much the booster packs will normally cost? $40 for 24 packs is less than $2 a pack, which is half of what MTG boosters cost, last I checked.
 
Already put my order through. They've reduced it so the $20 orders get the sweet bonuses.

If we break 100k we all get FOILS of each hero. Which means my poor decision to order the decks with the cards that sell the least in-game, will make me feel better as I'm getting every hero. :) :)

Take advantage. This company cares and the bonuses keep coming' with each order. It's a collective effort and the community has been great all month. We are in the final stretch. 50 some hours to go. They're already loooking for ideas for hitting 110k...

$20 bucks. Free shipping. Worst case: You and a friend get to try out an aspiring new card game and were there when it either soared or crashed and burned.
 
About one more day left. 110k was reached so foil heroes for everyone. Next up is 120k for Epic In-Game Avatars (meh) and 130K for sleeves (actually useful).

Any order gets a set of bonus items. Any single order of a tier $40 or higher gets another set of bonuses. So you can order a $10 deck and $40 box and get 2 sets of bonuses.

EDIT: They are actively checking orders for same addresses, paypal, and shadow era accounts .

I can't really spend the $40 right now to get the second set of bonuses, but I did order 2 $10 sets going to different addresses. :)

The game is pretty fun, fairly basic and easy to learn.

I think I'm mostly excited for all the bonus junk I'm getting with it.
 
I wonder if i could order a second $10 and get it sent to another location if i would get another set of bonus stuff. mainly i'd just like to have 2 decks so i could play against a friend in case i can;t find any card sets around here.
I'd probably have to use a different email account too for my online game account too

I decided to spring for this. It's $20 and I could do with saving some cash, but I've gotten into yugioh a ton recently and honestly, another excuse to hangout with friends is a good thing.
 
this is very interesting, have the game on my tablet, but have not tried the game yet... will have to sign up and offer up $20 to fund them, I love CCG's!
 
Thanks OP for the heads up! I've been playing the game on my phone and it's really fun. I ordered the $20 bundle and the $40 booster box. Here's hoping that they get to $130,000 so we can get some card sleeves thrown in!
 
is this crowdfunding sanctioned by any of the major sites (Kickstarter, Indiegogo, etc...)? I didn't know you could crowdfund on your own. Even crazier that they got 130k off their own fans alone essentially.
 
its not like those major sites own the concept of crowdfunding, they are just the main places for companies to set up crowd funding. this company already had their website and concept up not to mention they had an easy way of letting people know they needed funding.
They already had all the channels so they didn't need a third party source like Kickstarter

I just figured there was some sort of permit you had to get or something. I suppose that means they could've gotten one. I've just never seen a company run their own crowd-funding campaign before.

Why the heck would you need a permit to do that? It's no different then any other kind of sale legally. >.
 
Just over an hour to go, all 10 bonuses unlocked. My brother and I each got a deck. The virtual game is pretty good, it's well balanced, as if MTG had a reboot.
 
Looks more like WoW TCG with the hero cards and whatnot.

For someone who's never played this before (but does have other TCG experience), anyone want to recommend a specific starter deck?
 
I hope this game takes off so i can find other people around here to play with. For a college town there is a surprising lack of nerds (i blame the lack of a comics shop around here)
No use having all these shiny trinkets if they sit on a shelf collecting dust

you can check the forums specifically since they have sub forums dedicated to each hero.

if you like fast fun try a human mage. currently eladawen reigns supreme (although a bit nerfed in the next patch). shadow mage gravebone is fun also.

warriors/hunters/rogues are great fun. most starter decks can be fun, it is when you get to start customizing hardcore that you can get slow/fast decks or themed decks.
 
Just a heads up, preorders have been reopened and new stretch rewards added for every $5k. So far an additional 4 limited edition foil common/uncommon cards have been added to the rewards.
 
they've reopened the preordering but the way they put it on the site the new bonuses are only for the new people ordering...who also get the old bonuses. So it seems like preordering ahead of the curve left us with less stuff.
At least thats how it was worded. Hope it isn't the case
 
Not only have they changed the bonuses (foil heroes no longer exclusive) after the fact, but now they're taking all the promos I got in early for and devaluing them. May mother****ing 31st? That's over 2 months for more people to get in on this deal. All this for a game which might flop (they are not inspiring confidence so far). They tried to sell this like it was some kind of underground funding thing with big rewards for contributors, but it kind of seems like there's a lot of bait and switch, especially if they are offering new bonuses that are only available to the people who got in late.

Within the forums its been confirmed the original orders also get the new items. So no harm there.
 
I am really liking this game on my mobile. I am a total sucker for this type of game (magic,wyvern,pokemon) and probably will get a booster box with all of the bonuses it looks like a good deal.
