I had a class from 9:00-9:50, which got out exactly at 9:50. Took me almost ten minutes to walk to my car, and then another five to get across town to the store.

When I walked in, there were quite a few older adults. I think there were three people around my age.

What's funny is that almost all of them were congregated around the GBA and GC sections, which were in the same aisle. So, I hopped over to the 360 section, to DS, to PSP, to PS2, and then to the GBA/GC section which I knew would already be cleaned out.

I saw one guy with 20 or so games, two of the people my age had a basket full each and a couple of the older adults had mostly GBA games.

I ended up with:

Final Fantasy XI (360) for $9.99 (Dunno if I even needed this, since I know I'm not going to play after the first free 30 days!)

A PSP RPG by NIS. I cannot remember the name off the top of my head. It had an anime chick on it. :lol: $1.99

So, I spent $12 on two games I probably won't play much of. I only got the PSP game so that someday when I get a PSP I'll have something cheap to play.

The thing that annoyed me most today was people following me around asking to see my list, if a certain game was on it, or if they could have the list when I was finished. I eventually just let some girl walk away with it, because I knew I was finding nothing else.

Oh, and I do know the local BB had at least a decent amount of the PS2 and Xbox titles, but I really didn't jump in to see what they had. I know Samurai Champloo is still there, and I was tempted, but passed. And I didn't need any Xbox games, so I stayed out of that section altogether. Mega Man X Maverick Hunter or whatever is still in abundance; they had at least five to seven copies. I didn't pick it up though.
 
Chandler, AZ had absolutely nothing. I went up there at opening and it was me and about 3 other guys. Walked in to the game section, and looked around, there was a big bin, but nothing from the list. Associate came out and we inquired about the clearance, his response "We don't have any of the games, not a single one, however that bin is 30% off."

Start dissapointment sound.....

However on the way out, an associate walks out and puts 3 Wii's out on the floor, so I decide to pick one up.

Score!
 
I work there and after changing all the stickers for the clearance games that have them (non-budget titles) one worker came out to PULL a huge number off the shelves.

I'm not sure if they're being sent back to the company or if they're going to be sold.
 
Well, maybe I will stop after all after work.....unless someone says the Roseville, MI one is picked over. I really just want a few PSP or 360 games.

I did pretty good, got about 20 games, including Zelda: Four Swords (I'm glad I didn't buy it earlier!), Brothers in Arms, Mortal Kombat Deception, MGS: 3 Subsistence, Fight Night Round 3, Castlevania: DS, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, Killzone, Katamary Damacy, among others.

The Best Buy by my house is awesome, they actually had the games on sale pricemarked, and the employees just laughed and gave us baskets for easy game-carrying:lol:. I saw one kid with his dad I guess they were going to take the games to EB or Gamespot and trade them (is there a point to that?), but everybody else looked like gamers. I doubt there's much left even though they had a healthy supply at the beginning.
 
Buffalo was pretty much a bust for me. Hit all three locations and found nothing on my list that I wanted (MMX Collection, Sonic Gems), and anything that might've been an impulse buy (Enthusia, Sprung) was re-UPC'd (or, in the case of GTA:SA, was a GH edition).:cry:

I did pick up a Final Fantasy IV at the Blasdell location, they had plenty of 'em. But 9.99 is a little over my cheap-ass limit (hard for me to spend more than 5 bucks on a game these days, thanks to CAG!) Totally forgot to bring coupons with me, too, so I think I might try to do a return/rebuy at the location closest to me (Niagara Falls Blvd.) and see if they'll apply a coupon.

I got 2 copies of We Love Katamari, LoZ WW for the Cube, and Super monkey Ball 2 for 8.64. I then went to GS and traded them in for $43 in store credit. I am happy.

My BB had 2 copies of Oblivion Collectors Edition, but they did not ring up for 9.99. They rang up for 59.99, face sad.

All in all I am happy.

We Love Katamari gets 12 trade in at GS.
 
I was wondering why the other previous gen game shelves were virtually empty when I went to Best Buy on Friday. Oh well, it was nice to hope for cheap games, but it's harder to find these games than in the TRU clearances.

Best Buy usually has a meager selection of older titles, let alone with a clearance around.
 
Here's my story.

The employee in the games department had no idea which games were on sale. His supervisor didn't tell him; he was just sent out to the games with a price gun and told to scan and pull the clearanced titles. So when he saw that I had a list, he began working with me, scanning games I had in question. Pretty cool guy ... a real credit to the customer service at Best Buy that seems to have taken a hit with this sale.

I got there about 45 minutes after opening due to a fucking test. Apparently I missed out on Valkyrie Profile and Monster Hunter Freedom, according to this one employee I shoot the shit with whenever I'm in there. :'(
 
Man, this is one of those times where I have no way to go, more than likely wouldn't find anything, but yet, the curiousity kills me! The nearest Best Buy has some dolts working there anyway, since when I went on release day and bought Talladega Nights, they were supposed to have a dale in the WEEKLY AD where if you bought it you'd get two free 20 oz. I bought it, grabbed a couple cokes (one for me and my dad) and then he would only give me one for free, and I've seen that goober workin' there lots of times before. Idiots. Well, I'll just assume they didn't have squat to make myself feel better! :)
 
Just got back from the one in Mesa AZ. Picked up 3 titles for the kids... not much to choose from in Cube at all. Kind of bummed as there were a few titles I had wanted to buy for them in particular that were gone already. Oh well. Got 3 PS2 titles - Chicken Little, Rugby, and the Spy EyeToy one.

8 or so others there with lists... hey guys
 
I hit up the Canton, OH Best Buy about an hour after they opened, I basically bought one copy of all the $1.99 games that were left, including:

GCN - Madden 2005
PS2 - Micro Machine V4
PS2 - One Piece Grand Adventure
PSP - FIFA Soccer 06
PSP - Tokobot

Some other people had gotten there when the store opened and bought up alot of the stuff including GBA Drill Dozer's and Madden's, College Hoops for the 360, Killer 7 for the PS2 and some others.

I was a little upset about the fact that they had a bunch of $9.99 budget titles, hat were one the list that I would have gotten for $1.99, but they had those damn upc stickers on them over the actual on-the-box UPC. Or they were in those lame christmas wrapper boxes, and I they none rung up clearance. If those stickers weren't there I could have gotten about 10 more games.

My best Buy (Destin, Fl) had some games.. but they were not marked down!? WTF is up with that?! They had 4 copies of Oblivion and they rang up $59 bucks.. booooooo!
 
absolutely nothing at framingham, ma store.. I went there during lunch. There were a few other people, but no luck. the cheapo game shelf has been pretty much cleaned out. I only looked at ps2 section, but I am pretty sure other sections are in the same shape.

They will price adjust to the original SKU - they did for me.

Just tell them (nicely) that the original SKU underneath rings up for less than the stickered SKU, and it will work just fine.

Trust me.
 
Just got back from the BB in Totowa, NJ. There were a bunch of people hunting through the game section with lists in hand. A friendly enough bunch and we all chatted while looking for those elusive games. The majority of guys were from SD with one person who printed out the list from IGN.

A BB employee even printed out the list (think it was the one from IGN) for one of the guys who showed up without it. I didn't ask the employees about the sale, but I'm sure they were quite aware of it as they were patrolling the game section in a way I've never seen before. Seriously, the guys were walking up and down each isle in the game section then starting all over again. It was a bit odd...

Sadly, yet not surprisngly though there were no games from the list anywhere in the store. No bins or endcaps - though there was a minute little section with discounted games (not part of this clearance). Pure crap in that section, and only 1 - 2 copies of each title at best.

To make matters worse I stopped at Taco Bell across the highway to grab something to eat and now I'm sitting here at my desk with no games and a stomache ache :(

I was able to get NHL 2K6 at the Outer Loop and NHL 2K6 for my brother in law at the Shelbyville store. Shelbyville store also had on WWE reckoning GCN left. There were a couple other GCN games I found but nothing worth remembering.

yo i live in bedminster and i bet my BB in Bridgewater is cleaned out. i would expect the same for iselin and woodbridge since they are on Rt 1..and its always high volume their. this reminds me the time when the KB Toys had that huge going out buisness sale..and two guys in jersey cleaned out every single one of the KBs. this sucks because i really wanted Moto GP 06 for the 360...and no i doubt i will ever see one unless i pay full for it. =(
 
My wife went this morning for me. Of the games on my list (the 360 games, and a few of the others), she only came away with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for $4.99. Not a great deal (used it is $9.99 at EBGames), but it is a game I've been wanting for a while.

i tried one of these and no luck, just wondering if maybe this is what they did with all these games to 'clearance' them.......

By the time I got to the South Salt Lake BB (about 5 minutes after opening), there were already several kids there with lists. I didn't see anything I hadn't seen yesterday, and so just price adjusted the Popolocrois I had picked up.

Well that eliminates yet another Best Buy I could have gone to. My cousin lives near New Brunswick (which sucks btw) and yesterday it was already a bust. He's going to try later today and hope for a better result. Guess the only one left I have is the Islen/Woodbridge one. Hope someone lets me know if I should save myself the trip or not.

nothing at the bb off 121/183 in dfw area. I went at lunch with a friend that was looking for ps2 games (i was looking for gba/nds/cube) and nothing was found. ran into two others looking for the same sales. clerk told told one guy that the games were marked and mixed in with regular priced games so we spent a good part of lunch hour going thru each shelf. no sale games. i'm trying one more bb on way home.
 
Well.. I was there at around 10. Holy shit.. I couldn't tell who were CAG's, FW'ers, or SD. Avoiding the madness, I picked up Unforgiven, Enter the Dragon, and two 300 special DVD's with the movie tickets for a total of $9.99. So yes, the DVD glitch STILL works. I also went by and picked up Lumines should I ever buy a PSP. I noticed a large guy buy up both of the MotoGP's that were in stock, but everybody else seemed to be scrambling over everything else. No bin, no table, nada. I'm going to go back and price adjust the two games that I bought this weekend, but it was funny to see people get pissed (I saw a very large guy throw down a yellow BB basket in frustration and walk out, obviously from FW).

Now.. this story doesn't end. I saw an earlier post for the Denon home theatre price mistake in CC's ad. That was my aim. I went to CC and talked to a good friend that works there to shoot the shit, and then tried to get the Denon HTiB w/ seperate upconverting DVD player. For those interested, model # DHT487DV. Now.. This thing is usually around $800, $700 or so. The CC ad mistake has it for $269. Montgomery's CC has new management that has their shit together, so I knew I wouldn't succeed there (though I tried, they had a posted ad mistake notice). I considered trying to PM Full Auto for 360, but said to hell with it. Went back to BB.

I go to the home theatre area, and talk to a guy about the PM. He looks, and heads to customer service. After around 10 minutes, he comes back pissed. "We have two questions for you..why didn't you buy this at CC? This is way below cost for this." I tell him "I have to be back at work soon, I don't want to go to that side of town, and I have a BB card." He buys it, doesn't ask the second question, and got management approval.

All in all.. fuck a $2 Luigi's Mansion. I just pulled off my greatest PM: A Denon HTiB for $269 plus tax! Gotta say.. I'm kinda proud of myself :)
 
Well back from the "storm". For the first time ever I was greeted by other people who had lists. I guess this spread like wildfire and lots of people found out about it. I heard 2 employees talking and it sounds like some of the staff hoarded some games in the back (didn't specifically hear them say "games" but what else would they put back in the stockroom?). Didn't come home empty handed though:

Daxter PSP - 9.99

Harry Potter PSP - 1.99
SSX 4 PSP - 1.99
Valkyrie Profile PSP - 9.99
Tomb Raider PSP - 9.99
Ape Escape PSP - 4.99

Daxter was at the top of my wants so I'm glad I at least got one game I was really wanting. The rest was alright. Anybody that's played either Tomb Raider or Valkyrie Profile want to comment on if they're actually worth $10? I just got my PSP 2 weeks ago so I'm really in the dark.

just got back from hitting up 3 BBs in the chicago area.

first 2 were pretty much busts. i was tempted to get open season DS for 5 but passed.

last BB was a goldmine for xbox. picked up:

I showed up the BB in Greenville, NC and had no luck. Only a $1.99 copy of DDR for the PS2. I got home and decided to call Rocky Mount, NC BB and she said they had a bunch in stock. I drove down and was able to pick up quite a few titles, nothing outrageous but a pretty good deal $92 for 23 games.

Also the Best Buy in rocky Mount had a display right as you walk into the store. There were still a lot of games on it when I left though not as many $1.99 titles. The storein Greenville did not even have the tags setup with the right prices.

Both sites knew what I was talking about as soon as I asked them about the video game clearance.

Yeah seriously...just cross off Jersey off the list to find BB clearance games and we are done. Ill still go check out the BB today because i want to go get the Departed on DVD. if i find anything at all...ill post up..which i highly doubt.
 
Well my closet bestbuy had nothing in gamecube and nothing I was looking for on other PS2 and xbox360. The few I had them check for inventory and the bestbuy on the other side of town didn't have either. I was really hoping to atleast get POP3 and Ultimate Spidey on the gamecube.


I wonder if this clearance was only on old games that they average only had 2 of anyway, because I didn't even see dividers for any game I looked for.

On another note the Best Buy customer service didn't suprise me again, "crappy", they always act like I am takeing them away from talking with their buddies when I ask them something that requires them to go in the back or look up in the computer, since this is the only time I ask them anything, especially when BB is last resort because of price or availabity. And there buddies or coworkers seem to have to follow the person I am asking to the computer like a shadow don't they have shelves to clean/sort or invetory to replenish. If circuit City goes out of buisness eventually i will have to 100% order everything online, god I hate bestbuy.
 
I got to the Champaign, IL store a bit before opening and there were 4 other guys there waiting outside. We all rushed to the game section and found pretty much nothing. I think I found the one and only $1.99 game in the store (King Kong for DS), and there was basically nothing else. There were quite a few other people who had lists, included some very "non-gamer" types. Most people left empty-handed. I did find a $4.99 copy of King of Fighters Neowave on a cart in the aisle.

The funny thing was that there was a BB employee in the game section pulling games to put in a cart, but none of them were on the list (and for the most part they weren't good games either, so I didn't bother to have them scanned).

the tropicaire store in miami had next to nothing... but the shelves were packed, which was strange since last week they were bare, but had alot of the listed games... made off only with samurai champloo ps2 :( really wanted valyrie profile and popolocrois psp...

but incase people want to check it out... they did have some KOF: Neowaves for xbox....

Has anyone been to the Aventura Florida Best Buy? I was GOING to go, but I had no ride at the last minute, and the bus would have taken forever, and I would have never got there in time. So, has anyone been there? Any good? What did I miss? :(

I was at the East Brunswick and Manalapan BB's today and they were cleaned out yesterday. Brunswick had a couple of games but nothing to good.
