SNES Classic Discussion Thread

I vote for the 21st.

#1 - It is a solar eclipse.

#2 - There are 21 games on the system.
#3 - The SNES Was originally released on the 21st (of a month) in 1990.

LOGIC !!!

I'm thinking of ordering a month of Prime. Have to figure preorders will be Prime only. Might be the best chance of orders being up longer than 5 minutes, no?

Anyone know why this thread (and other threads) always shows as 0 replies for me? I'm logged in. Mobile version. It doesn't come up to the top of the page or show as new posts when someone posts.

Edit: fixed autocorrect nonsense

I doubt the pre-orders will be limited to Prime only on Amazon, but if you order from Amazon often enough the free 2 day shipping will pay for the membership cost pretty quickly.

I wouldn't trust Amazon on this. For high-demand pre-orders Best Buy is really the only place that is reliable. Amazon tends to oversell and cancel later. Walmart is okay, but look what happened with the fiasco earlier.

I plan on preordering anywhere and everywhere that offers them just to increase the odds. I can defintely see Walmart or GameStop screwing up orders. Have more faith in Target and Best Buy but with this being so highly sought after anything can happen really.

I think a lot of us are going to do just that for the same reason. I've got 2 EU orders locked down and I'll probably end up keeping the 2nd for trade bait. Still haven't had any luck with the Metroid Legacy Edition incidentally if someone wants to trade... lol

No sign of Japanese preorders yet either. Although they are probably last one everyone's list since you can still get a Famicom mini now.

Me too. I want to get 3 as im helping 2 of my brother in laws who arent a CAG like me. If i get more thats fine cuz i know others who want them and im not some scrub scalper and will simply charge them what i paid for it at retail.

Well Walmart already screwed up once already.

I received a customer satisfaction survey about my recently completed order for an SNES Classic from Walmart.  I was not satisfied.

Haha That made me laugh out loud, literally. Nah but seriously whenever I get duplicate stuff in the past I sell it to someone I know for what I paid. I want items to go to people who actually want it and not those looking to make a quick buck. The universe pays you back with stuff like that because a while back I obtained a few of the gen 1 amiibo i was missing from a fellow CAG who sold them ro me at retail (plus tax & shipping of course).

I hope to find more like that again on my quest for Smash yoshi, Smash metaknight, Smash Rosalina & Luma, Smash wii fit trainer, and Skyward sword link. Those are all I need to own one of every current USA amiibo.

Thank you. It's about time that this thread becomes strict with that. I'm just about tired of getting notifications with hopes of a preorder live alert of a sort only to stumble upon politics or anything irrelevant. With that said, sorry about posting this reply. To all those in my situation, I mean. Have a nice day and happy hunting!

Why do people assume Nintendo purposefully creates a shortage with production? There's two sides to supply and demand, and it doesn't profit them to not sell as much. It just makes no sense.
Actually, it makes perfect sense. It's been talked about and rehashed to death. Don't start the shit again.

Any chance we can get the Gamestop trade thread to be back here too?

Really should just make a new thread and sticky that. The 3200+ replies here are not doing anyone any good and to anyone new, they may not know it'd be a total waste of time to look at any of them but the first.

I didn't want to start a new one since this one had around 400 followers but I think it is best to start a new clean thread. Thanks for the suggestion.

I was in gamestop today, and the csr that rang me up said that their store did preorders last year for the nes classic, and were definitely going to get the snes classic in stock, but no idea when exactly that was going to happen, This was nyc, I can try swinging by the nintendo flagship store in midtown the next time I'm in the area to see if any of the reps there have any up to date news.

The gamestop worker said that IF there are no pre orders, it will just be first come first serve on the day of the launch.

i just got this email from amazon. is there anything i can do to get my snes classic from the UK.

Unfortunately, due to delivery restrictions on such items, we won’t be able to send you B071G84PFQ Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System from your order. This is because this item contains flammable, pressurised, corrosive, environmentally hazardous or otherwise harmful substances classified as dangerous goods under the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Air.

Although the amount of these substances in these products is usually quite limited, these products need to be transported in a certain way to ensure that they are handled with care and are therefore assigned to a specialist carrier. Unfortunately this means that we can’t dispatch it to any destination outside of mainland UK, PO Box addresses, or pickup locations.

Please update your address for this order by selecting "Order Details" when you click on the following link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/yourorders

If you don't update the delivery address for this order within 5 days, it will be automatically cancelled and you won't be charged.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused and hope to see you again soon.

Use borderlinx, I made a post about borderlinx earlier in the thread last month detailing how to get it done

http://www.borderlinx.com/en/pages/how-it-works

edit, I have not got an email from amazon uk just yet, asking me to cancel or update my addy, but I will definitely use borderlinx if and when I do. Seems like an ideal workaround for cases like this, it looks like they charge about 10 bucks as a handling fee, and we would pay the actual shipping charges for the second shipment, maybe 15 bucks all together to make sure you that your pre order goes through.

I am sorry you had your order cancelled, I was able to change mine in time to my borderlinx address. The amazon UK standard shipping cost to anther UK address is free, but I am paying about 11 pounds in taxes(called VAT in UK), and I will pay about another 15 dollars in shipping and handling to borderlinx to ship the package to me when it arrives. Borderlinx will give me a discounted shipping code for my first purchase with them, so that is something, but all in all, I am going to be paying about 20 dollars extra than what I would be paying if I just stood in line on the day of the launch at gamestop, or best buy or whatnot, and bought a USA version for 80$US + tax. I may end up doing that as well to try to mod one of them but at least I know for sure I will be getting at least one of these consoles. I had to take extra steps, but it is worth it to me for the peace of mind, I know a lot of you ordered from amazon of UK and may be fretting that your order will get cancelled after reading about other people on here getting their orders cancelled, This is one way to make sure that it will not get cancelled.

I made my own SNES Slim. Used motherboard from early heavyweight super nintendo with the separate shielded audio box & of course S-Video capabilities. Accepts Super Famicom games too no pesky adapters needed. Sure, it's not as mini as the snes classic but it has a much larger game library. No Starfox 2 but I think I can live without it. Still I will grab a snes mini if the opportunity ever presents itself to me, for collecting purposes that is.

Not yet so far...

Just wanted to ask, for the ones that got an email, which shipping did  you guys choose?

I read a similar story on reddit/r/minisnes Hopefully this isn't a replay of the Walmart disaster where they trickle cancellations out then cancel them all a couple days later.

Do what I did and pay a little more for borderlinx(essentially a European shipping service, you buy items on a euro website, they ship it locally to borderlinx and then borderlinx ships it to you.  No stress, no chance of a cancellation.

you sure?
Yes, because Amazon of uk will be shipping mine to a U.K. Address. Then borderlinx ships it to me(I do pay them a ten dollar handling fee and any shipping costs)

People are getting their orders cancelled because they didn't use a U.K. Address. They even had on their site that people outside of the U.K. May get their orders cancelled. Use a U.K. Address and sleep easy. Just don't lament that there was nothing you could do when you intentionally left your usa address on the order and it gets cancelled

I've used Tenso before to get stuff from amazon japan. I can't speak for borderlinx, but the tenso is solid. The only bummer is getting stuck paying VAT since it's a UK address. Oh well, beats paying ebays premium

would it be wise to update my shipping address with borderlinx

That's totally your call. I already did that but that was me being overly cautious to make sure that I get a console

I live in New York, it will probably be available on launch day with a long ass line at the Nintendo flagship store In midtown and a lot of the GameStop stores on launch day. But it is possible I get assed out and don't get a unit and have to spend hours/days/weeks/ months running around just to score one of these. Now that I know I for sure have secured one from Amazon UK I know I can rest easy and for sure know I will not get assed out

I'm a little surprised that we haven't heard more posts on here about guys getting their amazonuk orders cancelled but that may not happen at all or it may only happen to a few people

Changing anything on an Amazon pre-order resets your place in line.  Normally not a big deal, but for something that's sold out, it's a risk and your order may get cancelled when it comes out if they don't receive exactly how many they sold.

I'd leave everything as is unless you absolutely have to change it.
