Desperate times of Blu-Ray.
99 dollar players is desperate.
B1G1 free is a treat.

I need a second movie. I have picked enemy of the state, but the second one is tough.

I'm looking at:

Casino Royale
Momento
Prestige
Pursuit of Happyness
Donnie Brasco
Pirates of the Caribbean (1)

The only one I have seen is Pirates, which I enjoyed much.

Anyone can make a recommendation?

I don't know if you were asking for another Sony or Disney title:
if Sony, then Layer Cake or Big Fish

if Disney, then Apocalypto

Since you can't mix and match, if:
The title you want is Disney, go with POTC
If it's Sony, Casino Royale.

Wow, Trench. You're as clueless in these other forums as much as you are in the CAGCast ones.

If you think that the B1G1 free deal with Blu-Ray is desperate, then what, pray tell, do you think of the HD-DVD deals from Best Buy a few weeks back? I personally netted 5 mail-in HD-DVDs, plus 2 free in-store HD-DVDs, plus Season 1 of Heroes on HD-DVD all for the cost of the Xbox 360 HD-DVD player -- oh and we might as well count the King Kong movie that comes with the player.

For the record, I don't think anybody is actually desperate. The original DVD format is mopping the floor with BOTH high-definition discs.

This isn't desperate -- this is the benefit of excellent competition. Both formats want to get as many people exposed to their format as possible, and during the holiday seasons they're going to do as much as possible to build exposure and expand their user base, which includes B1G1 free deals. With a (admittedly crippled backwards-compatibility-wise) $400 PS3 and a B1G1 free deal with Blu-ray, perhaps this will be the time when PS3 and blu-ray start gaining a significant momentum.

I think you meant increase their already significant momentum. :D

The Prestige is an awesome movie. Casino Royale is not a bad choice either.

Didn't realize I couldn't mix and match. Thanks.
Hmm... I emailed since they were closed when I found out about the amazon deal. I'll try calling them first place in the morning to make sure it goes through. Sounds like they're being a hassle about it though.
Just an update, JR cancelled my order through the email, and then I called them this morning and they confirmed it. So if you jumped on that deal and now want to do this one, its easy to cancel. Eight movies for the price of their five is the deal of the century if you ask me.

This blu-ray deals are great, but I hate them because I can't turn these deals down since it makes blu-rays less than dvds cost. I ordered Stranger Than Fiction and Lives of Others.
The Prestige
Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest
Apocalypto
Reign of Fire
Memento
The Fifth Element:

Total: 54.28 shipped. Rock, rock on.
How is that possible?

The Prestige - $23.95
PotC: DMC - $23.95
Apocalypto - $23.95
Reign of Fire - $23.95
Memento - $19.95
Fifth Element - $19.95

$23.95 (first two)

+

$23.95 (next two)

+

$19.95 (last two)

= $67.85 plus free shipping.

So did I miss something? Another free deal??

I can't get the deal on Fifth Element and Donnie Brasco. (yes, i have the right versions) They come up as two orders. Very frustrating.

You do know that the discount doesn't show until you leave the cart and go to check-out, right? It should automatically show as a promotional discount. Worst case scenario, place the order so long as you put the right versions in your cart...and then call Amazon.com to correct the error. They'll do it no sweat.
The Prestige, Pirates of the Caribbean 1 & 2, and Apocalypto are BS movies?
Those movies are not worth buying... renting yes, buying no.
You can buy both and get $10 off, or have you been asleep this week?
How do you get the $10 off? Please do tell...
Those movies are not worth buying... renting yes, buying no.
all 4 of those movies are great and at least 3 of them are must haves in a blu-ray collection especailly at a heavily discounted price

also try to edit your posts rather then make 3 in a row

Damn these BOGO sales...w/my 10% off, Prime and no tax I have no excuse not to stock up during these...I can't resist blu-rays for $8-$11 a movie. My wallet hates you amazon.com.
who makes scary movie? why isnt it included...
I clicked on the Disney link in the original post and saw Scary Movie on there, it's part of the deal. Just not listed in the first post.

Does anyone think there will be a better deal for Casino Royale anytime soon? I've been wanting to pick it up for a while but I try to keep waiting in hopes that something besides the usual B1G1 will come along. Not too interested in the movies that would go with it besides possibly Memento and Hostel. Should I wait or grab it with Memento?

I picked up Casino Royale and Ghost Rider, as well as Shrek the Third on HD DVD. I still get the 10% off HD discs from the HD DVD player I bought from Amazon last November. What's cool is that they applied a 10% credit from the price of the free BD, in addition to getting it free. So, I got the three for just under $46. $15 and change per movie is pretty decent for these three, IMO.

EDIT: Went back and looked at some of the $19.95 movies, wound up getting 4 (gave me free shipping). I got GI Jane, Haunted Mansion, King Arthur and Scary Movie. A few cents under $32 for the four, with the 10% credit on the four.

nice i already got all the movies from amazon i ordered on sunday using super saver shipping

j&r from sat? still processing :(
Huh it is giving me free shipping even though my order is below $20. Snazzy.
Shipping is calculated before any discounts, so most any BOGO offer will give free cheap ass shipping.
How is that possible?

Amazon offered a 10% off to early adopters last year. If you bought 3 HD movies together they would give you 10% off all purchases for a year. Chances are he is one of those people. I get this discount myself.

The best part about this which makes it a killer deal is that you get 10% off all of the movies in your cart (even the free ones). So you buy a 20 movie, get $2 off. You get a free $20 movie and get another $2 off. Averaging an amazing $8 per movie, shipped. haha. Great!

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Pirates 1
Pirates 2
Remember the Titans
Kung Fu Hustle
Big Fish
Memento
Layer Cake
The Fifth Element (Remastered)
Donnie Brasco

$107.xx

About to order. Crazy deal.

Is the Kung Fu Hustle extras same as the regular DVD or is it like the Axe Kicking Edition? I heard the orginal DVD edited out some blood and the Axe Kicking Edition is the uncut edition of the original Hong Kong film.

I like it better without the extra blood.
In the same way I felt they did a bit much with Hot Fuzz in terms of gore when it's a silly action/comedy movie.

Sony has invested so much into Blu-Ray, they have these deals to try to get people to buy crappy movies, people wouldn't otherwise buy for full price. Some movies are worth paying full price, but a lot aren't worth $30. Sony and the other investors want Blu-Ray to rule the market. They want to tote their sales (especially against HD DVD) so they can promote Blu-Ray in a way only Sony can do. Make it sound like all the cool people buy Blu-Ray. I couldn't care less about HD DVD or Blu-Ray, both will probably die before the masses accept them. DVD smokes them all.

That's not to say this isn't good for CAGs, but it's pretty clear what they are trying to do. They aren't doing this as a treat for you because they love you. Don't lie to yourself. Buy all the movies you want HD DVD or Blu-Ray, get your deals when you can!
