Spike TV has given the green-light for a television series based on Marvel Super Hero “Blade” as the network’s first original scripted series. The network has ordered 11 one-hour episodes, in addition to the previously announced two-hour kick-off episode, to be produced by New Line Television, set to commence production in Vancouver this spring. “Blade” premieres in June 2006.

With a library of over 5,000 proprietary characters, Marvel Entertainment, Inc. is one of the world's most prominent character-based entertainment companies. Marvel's operations are focused in three areas: entertainment (Marvel Studios) and licensing, comic book publishing and toys (Toy Biz). Marvel facilitates the creation of entertainment projects, including feature films, DVD/home video, video games and television based on its characters and also licenses its characters for use in a wide range of consumer products and services including apparel, collectibles, snack foods and promotions. Marvel's characters and plot lines are created by its publishing segment that continues to expand its leadership position in the U.S. and worldwide while also serving as an invaluable source of intellectual property.

Except for any historical information that they contain, the statements in this news release regarding Marvel's plans are forward-looking statements that are subject to certain risks and uncertainties, including a decrease in the level of media exposure or popularity of Marvel's characters, financial difficulties of Marvel‚s licensees, changing consumer preferences, movie- and television-production delays and cancellations, toy-production delays or shortfalls, continued concentration of toy retailers, toy inventory risk, the imposition of quotas or tariffs on products manufactured in China and a decrease in cash flow even as Marvel remains indebted to its noteholders. These and other risks and uncertainties are described in Marvel's filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, including Marvel's Annual Reports on Form 10-K, Quarterly Reports on Form 10-Q and Current Reports on Form 8-K. I actually saw a commercial for the show about 2 weeks ago. It seems that Chuck Liddell from the UFC is either a character in the show, or makes a cameo appearance.

I'm not too sure about this one, I liked Blade and Blade 2 was alright, but didn't really like Blade: Trinity.

On a side note, you're freaking kidding me, the screen name of the guy playing Blade is "Sticky Fingaz"?

I dont have much hope in this series its sad what new line did with wesley snipes how they turned there back on his complaints and let david goyer 'the writer for all the blade movies' direct blade trinity and basicly did what joel shumocker did to batman. Killing the series by making a crapfest .

The script for trinity shouldnt even have been cleared there was a better script made by goyer where blade was in the future going against a world over run by vampires.

The director for blade 2 wanted to do that version but was to busy with his own projects so new line let goyer pick a horrible cast and change the script into blade trinity.

The series looks good so far but..spike tv? who knows...why is blade bald? well marvel doesnt care to follow there own comics in there movies..thats why dc movies are now coming out as classics and marvel is going downhill.

Rapper from the group Onyx, I think.

blade 2, despite it's very obvious flaws in terms of acting quality from a few key people, transcended the boundaries of "guilty pleasure" to become one of my all time favorite movies. blade:trinity really let me down. if they'd gone with the original script, it would have been a hell of a movie. as it stands, it's mediocre at best. i have yet to hear any good things about the show either, citing that despite being a blade tv show, they spend more time focusing on some other female character for most of the show. that was either a review of the pilot or the pilot script, though, but either way that sounds a lot like blade:trinity where the focus lay on everyone BUT blade. hopefully they really pull it out and make a quality show.
isn't Sticky Fingaz too skinny and short to play blade ?
Well he is short, but he's cut all to hell. I think he should do a decent job. He is a pretty good actor from what little i've seen.
