Stay Classy, America

If it weren't for Paul's economic opinions and I think isolationist streak, I'd actually like him, because on issues like this I think he's got a point. He is one of the few people who will admit that our meddling in southwest asia is largely responsible for our situation today.

Non-intervention, not isolation. Isolationism entails restricted trade, travel, sanctions on other countries, etc.

You'd find some agreement on economic issues, too. He's against the banking cartel, legislation that supports or protects corporate power, subsidies, etc. Eliminating the income tax would do a great deal of good for middle class and poor people, too. Throw in his civil liberties stances, and he's more progressive than the vast majority of progressives.

LOLZ...wut? No he isn't. His policies would bring us back to the days of landed gentry and serfs. He doesn't want no income tax for the non-rich, he wants them for everybody, and by doing so, eliminate the very safe guards that keep chemicals and feces out of our drinking water, as well as eliminating public schools. Add his crazy infatuation with gold and you know this guy is borked in the head.

edit: A broken clock is right twice a day and all that...

He co-sponsored and publicly supported Alan Grayson's "The War Is Making You Poor Act," which eliminated income tax for the first $30k. The compromise of his elimination of the income tax would be something similar. For years, he's on record as saying that he'd much rather spend money here at home than abroad, and that domestic welfare and safety net programs would be funded by the savings from ending our empire, elimination occurring after decades. Even when he was the Libertarian presidential candidate in 1988 he never called for the outright elimination of public schools, only for the elimination of the department of education.

He's infatuated with nearly anything that would limit or incapacitate central banking, not just gold.

Go ahead and support clowns like Bernie Sanders, though. When push comes to shove, he'll sell out (see the audit of the Federal Reserve).
