So the daily deal game looks pretty good, and the deal on it is good. So why am I having trouble pulling the trigger?

Oh, that's right, bundles have screwed my perception of what's a good deal.
It was also in that AMD bundle with Alien Isolation and Star Citizen for a buckaroni.

VR has been a pipe dream for decades and will continue to be a pipedream for another few decades.  Maybe when we're all 80 we can gave fun in the holo-suites.

Also, if anyone even thinks of fakeybroing Magicka 2, you deserve to be stabbed with a frozen hotdog.
You best stock up on hotdogs. I'm buying a 4 pack once it's available.
For a +1 it's expensive but if it's better than the first one, it's a good price for those (just me) that need to own it right away.

Also, I'm moving house so keys for Corona Motorsport, Fortune's Tavern winners, and anything else I've forgotten may be delayed.

All of that for a single buckaroni? When did this happen?

Yes, I'm being sarcastic due to all of the greedy individuals that wouldn't share and later sought ~3000% profit. Booooo!

What part of it is a pipe dream though? The tech works now and works at a level many would find enjoyable. It's just very demanding.

Maybe this is what you're looking for?

Quick question...

This vs This...

I'm thinking about buying it for my wife. She has a 17" laptop, and with this kind of tablet she can, in some ways, get some work done without carrying her laptop with her (she's a web developer/designer)... I'm thinking about VNC and maybe some kind of mini (and portable) server.

I have a Winbook TW801 and if I didn't get it for cheap and only use it for a specific work use, I wouldn't recommend it. It's mostly an OK low power W8.1 tablet with the exception of the touchscreen. Not the visual display, but the touch, as the sensitivity is inconsistent at best. Sometimes it reacts with a mere molecule of touch sometimes it won't react at all. I don't like HP, but I'd say in this comparison it would warrant the increased price.

If your looking at something for use with vnc, MS makes a very good RDP client for both android and ios, so I wouldnt limit your search to just win tablets for that reason. Of course that only really applies if its windows running on the server, not sure how good the rdp servers are for *nix

Weird, there are a lot of good reviews. Sure you didn't got a faulty unit? But if the touch interface is that bad, it's a pass...

The server is Windows, but what I like the most about those tablets is the price ;)

I exchanged it the day I bought it and the second unit was exactly the same, as was the in-store demo model (which I didn't try prior to purchase). I suppose it could have been just a funky batch, but I didn't care enough to try for a third unit. I figure I'll drop the thing off a ladder and destroy it soon enough. Totally not on porpoise.

I have a HP Stream 7. I picked it up out of curiosity. (My primary tablet is a 2013 Nexus 7.) The Stream is a surprisingly solid tablet for the price point. I was disappointed with the Windows 8.1 experience on a tablet. Much like Windows Phone (I played with a Nokia 521 for a bit before giving it to my father), the very core of the experience is there. IE runs surprisingly well. The 1 GB of RAM never felt like a limitation, to my surprise. There are very very few 3rd party Windows Metro/tablet apps. The desktop experience (using only the touchscreen) is finicky but doable.

I suspect the Stream 7 is best tablet at it's price point. The hardware is solid, the screen is surprisingly good. The main limitation is Windows 8.1. I'll also note that with good headphones (ATH-M50s) I hear digital noise -- there isn't proper grounding between the digital components and the audio/analog amplifier. This is a design mistake I haven't heard since my 1996 Sharp Mebius (Widenote), which clearly had IDE controller noise leaking into the audio/analog... noticeable with good headphones (but cheap headphones hit the issue).

Not Steam related, but Harrison Ford was in a plane crash and is said to be in critical condition.

If you pray, I don't but some might, throw one out there for Indy.

Honestly, I wouldn't get the Winbook700 when the 801 and 802s are available.

I've been thinking about the 10 inch winbook for a while now and the full-sized usb port is great (grab a tiny USB drive like a sandisk cruzer fit & you won't even know it's there).

(Edit: the reason I mention the usb drive is easy transfer of files between the tablet and laptop as well as the cost - I picked up a 64gb sandisk cruzer for $23 dollars last December in anticipation of a tablet.... yeah I put the cart before the horse sometimes, but it was a good deal)

In other news.. I finished Metal Gear Solid: Revengance a little while ago and I'm not sure how I feel about it.

On one hand the gameplay was fun and the enemy designs interesting and well-done.

On the other hand: My earlier complaint about the the way-too-frequent-cut-scenes never really stopped and I thought 90% of the writing was pretentious and filled with bad-anime-melodrama that I don't think even my inner 13 year old would have liked or thought was cool.

Not really a
That final boss fight especially. Jeez. Way too much gameplay interruptions and way too talkie (especially since every conversation could have been whittled down to 2 sentences).

I didn't time anything, but I would bet that one of the conversation cut-scenes early-on in the fight went on for nearly 10 minutes.

Anyway, I can't say I recommend it, nor can I say it was bad.... if you're going to play it and you think the first few cutscenes are as ridiculous as I did - start skipping them - you'll enjoy the game more.

FYI... two different stories have come forward saying he was in "moderate" and some saying he was just "fine".  So I think the critical condition report is a bit exaggerated.  Like Brian Williams' career.

Hey.. we made the cag tweet deal thing.... without any real deals to be had... must be a slow day.

I completely agree with what you've written, and hell, even by the end, I was still having issues with movement and the blocking mechanics. Enough so that I don't see myself returning for a second playthrough anytime soon.

I'm optimistic about the sequel (that's happening, right?), though, and I'm hoping that they implement a few extra training modes for noobs like myself :baby:

I bought Space Run a while ago. It's kinda like a tower defence, but not.

I'd play more but it has one of those silly 1-5 star rating systems for each level which really bugs me. I feel like I can't go further until I've done my absolute best on the previous level.

Decent game, mind. I need to revisit. Worth it at this price if you're awash with Steambux.

:whee:

I'm currently stressed out trying to maintain my honor roll GPA in Valkyria Chronicles. I'm not a fan of grades or star ratings in games. I don't need that kind of judgement coming from my video games. Let's just keep it pass or fail.

So, should I wait for it to be really cheap or for it to be in a Konami Humble Bundle?

What kind of huge files are you moving between devices that necessitates a 64gb usb drive? Just curious. I find it easier to use cloud storage since most of the stuff I need to move/access across devices is relatively small stuff like pictures, mp3s, documents, and the like.

It may be exaggerated and I know he's tough, but he's also old and old people are just fine, until they're not and they die in your guest bedroom at around 2 a.m. on Christmas Day, shitting the bed as their soul departs to the hereafter, and your young nephew is the one to find them and he won't stop screaming until you dose him with benadryl, forever ruining this and all future Christmases for him.

So, just think happy thoughts for Mr. Solo.

Foils are like  :D/ when you first get one then  :???: when you realize that just because the lowest listed price currently is $10 doesn't mean anyone will pay that and even if you sell it at half that it will probably take you 3 months of checking constantly to make sure you aren't undercut in order to sell the damned thing.
